A protest over alleged examination irregularities and unemployment descended into chaos in Jaipur on Monday after Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke was allegedly slapped and manhandled while on his way to address a gathering of students and youth.
The incident took place at Shaheed Smarak, where a large crowd had assembled to protest against alleged paper leaks, recruitment-related issues and unemployment. According to police, tensions flared shortly before Dipke was scheduled to address the gathering.

Videos circulating on social media show Dipke being carried on the shoulders of supporters when a scuffle suddenly broke out. Amid the commotion, he was allegedly assaulted by a group of youths, forcing police personnel and supporters to intervene.
The situation escalated further when Dipke’s supporters reportedly caught hold of the alleged attackers and assaulted them before police stepped in. Authorities later detained two youths in connection with the incident and launched an investigation.
Protesters at the venue carried placards against corruption and examination paper leaks while raising slogans demanding accountability for alleged irregularities in competitive examinations. Calls for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were also heard during the demonstration.
Police said the protest had been organised by the CJP to highlight issues affecting students and job aspirants, including paper leaks, examination controversies and unemployment.
The incident has drawn comparisons with a widely publicised attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during a Lok Sabha election roadshow in Delhi’s Moti Nagar area in May 2019. In that episode, a man climbed onto the bonnet of the vehicle carrying Kejriwal and slapped him in full public view before being overpowered and beaten by AAP supporters.
What made the Kejriwal incident particularly controversial was the subsequent police investigation. While the Aam Aadmi Party alleged a political conspiracy and security lapse, Delhi Police later claimed that the assailant, Suresh Chauhan, was himself associated with the party and had been included in the reception team list submitted by AAP organisers. Police stated that Chauhan had attended party events and was part of the welcoming group at the roadshow venue, though AAP leaders strongly disputed the claim and alleged a larger conspiracy behind the attack.
Monday’s disruption in Jaipur has similarly generated widespread attention on social media, with videos of the confrontation rapidly going viral. The incident also comes at a time when the CJP has been attempting to build a nationwide student movement around examination reforms and alleged paper leak scandals.
Despite the disruption, Dipke announced that the movement would continue. In a video message, he called upon students and young people in Nagpur to gather at Samvidhan Square on June 16 for a peaceful protest demanding reforms in the education sector and the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan.
Whether the Jaipur incident was a spontaneous altercation or something more politically calculated remains unknown. However, given the similarities with Arvind Kejriwal episode and Cockroach Janta Party’s ideological moorings with the AAP, the incident is likely to invite scrutiny, especially around the identities of the detained youths and their motivation, to determine whether they had any prior connection with the organisers, and whether the confrontation was an isolated act or part of a larger attempt to generate political attention and public sympathy.
