A protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper leak controversy entered its second day on Sunday, 21st June. The demonstration was originally called to demand accountability over irregularities in the NEET examination and to press for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
However, the protest took another turn, as usual, and Danish Ali, Joint Secretary of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU), made anti-Hindu remarks during her address to the gathering. A demonstration focused on examination-related concerns was turned into a political platform featuring “Azadi” slogans.”

She is proud of what Terrorist Shrajeel Imam and Umar Khalid did.
She is falsely targeting all Hindus to play the victim card.

Danish Ali spoke in support of terrorist Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid
During her speech, Danish Ali spoke about terrorists Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid, both of whom have remained at the centre of political controversy in recent years. Addressing the crowd, she said, “Friends, my name is Danish, and I come from the Centre for Historical Studies. This is the same centre from which our friends Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid come. Ask why they have been in jail for so many years. It is because they dared to challenge the ruling government and question those in power.”
She further went on to say that Muslims in India are being made to feel insecure and treated as “second-class citizens.” “Across the country, an Islamophobic atmosphere is being created. Muslims are constantly made to feel that if they want to live in this country, they must live in fear. They are repeatedly made to feel that they are not equal citizens, but second-class citizens. They are told that if they want to live here, they must accept only one culture and one religion and give up their own cultural rights,” She said.
Ali also argued that JNU provides a space where students from marginalised communities can express themselves freely and challenge political narratives.
Her speech quickly went viral on social media, with many users questioning why a protest centred on the NEET paper leak had shifted towards discussions about terrorists Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid, which are unrelated issues unrelated to the examination controversy.
Similar controversy during earlier protest
This is not the first time CJP supporters have done this. Earlier, during a protest held at Jantar Mantar on 6th of June, a group of protesters harassed women journalists who had arrived to cover the event.
A video from that protest went viral on social media. The footage showed several protesters surrounding a woman journalist, shouting slogans and making an obscene gesture in her direction. The incident had triggered strong reactions from media professionals and social media users.
Saturday’s protest once again shifted focus from the party’s demands over the NEET paper leak to the anti-Hindu remarks.
