Uttar Pradesh has become the country’s leading electronics and mobile manufacturing hub under the Yogi government, with the state now producing nearly 65% of all mobile phones made in India. It has also secured around 55% of the country’s electronics component manufacturing, marking a major shift in India’s manufacturing landscape.
Noida and Greater Noida lead the growth
The biggest contribution to this transformation has come from the industrial clusters in Noida and Greater Noida. Several global smartphone brands, including Samsung, Oppo, Vivo and LG, are manufacturing mobile phones on a large scale in the region.
The state is also home to major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) such as Dixon Technologies, Optiemus, Padget Electronics, Zeton (Zetwerk) and Bhagwati Products (Micromax). Their presence has helped Uttar Pradesh meet domestic demand while strengthening India’s position in the global electronics supply chain.
Electronics components manufacturing expands
Apart from mobile phones, Uttar Pradesh has become the country’s largest centre for electronics component manufacturing. Companies such as Samkwang, Holitech, KHY, Khvatec, Minda Corporation, JWorld, Shinsung C&T, Sunwoda and Dreamtech are producing key components like PCBAs, displays, capacitors and other essential electronic parts.
Meanwhile, Haier and Panasonic are continuing to expand their consumer electronics manufacturing operations in the state, making Uttar Pradesh’s industrial base stronger.
Policies drive investment
The Yogi government credits this growth to its industry-friendly policies. The Electronics Manufacturing Policy-2017, along with its 2020 and 2022 amendments, and the Uttar Pradesh Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy-2025 have attracted investments worth more than Rs 28,000 crore from over 75 companies.
The state has also taken a major step into semiconductor manufacturing by securing approved investments of Rs 32,146 crore. One of the biggest projects is the HCL-Foxconn Display Driver Chip Plant near Jewar, which is expected to strengthen India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
Exports see a sharp rise
Uttar Pradesh’s electronics exports have grown rapidly over the past decade. From being almost negligible in 2015, electronics exports reached USD 2.58 billion in 2022-23, accounting for 16.65% of India’s total electronics exports.
The growth continued in 2024-25, when smartphone exports alone touched USD 17.5 billion, helping the state emerge as an important player in the global electronics export market.
Strong infrastructure and digital ecosystem
The state has also built a strong digital network. More than 1.85 lakh Common Service Centres (CSCs) are providing over 314 e-governance services across Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, a consumer base of over 24 crore smartphone users has boosted domestic demand.
Improved roads, expressways, better logistics, a skilled workforce and an investment-friendly environment have helped Noida become a major manufacturing centre for mobile phones, LED TVs, electronics components, consumer electronics and lithium-ion batteries.
Looking ahead, the Yogi government is encouraging investment in Industry 4.0 sectors such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, robotics, drones, automation and advanced electronics. The government believes these efforts will create large-scale employment, attract more global investment and help Uttar Pradesh play a bigger role in making India a global technology superpower.
