On Sunday night (26th July), at least two people were killed, and five others were injured in a shooting at the Seattle Center near the Space Needle in Seattle, United States. The two people were pronounced dead after life-saving efforts failed.
Taking to X, the Seattle Police Department said, “Police are investigating a shooting. Multiple shooting victims. Shots fired at the Seattle Center. More information to come. Please avoid the area.”

Local media reports that a witness heard multiple gunshots before fleeing the scene. Witnesses revealed that they heard at least“seven to eight shots” inside the venue while the people were running “everywhere”.

“Everybody started running, and so we just ran too, and we ran through the garden, and we ducked, and we decided to keep running with the crowd until we got- I looked up for the Space Needle to try to keep track of where we were. It was really scary,” a witness, Leanne Coles, told KIRO TV.
“At first, thought there were fireworks, and then everybody flooded and ran past us,” another one said.
The shooting occurred during the annual three-day food festival, Bite of Seattle, attracting around 3,50,000 people.

Among the injured in the Sunday attack were a 56-year-old woman and three other victims, including a 2-year-old boy. Another victim had minor injuries. The injured were taken to Harborview Medical Center.
There are no confirmed reports about any arrests in the matter so far.
Notably, shooting incidents have been a big menace in the US. Earlier this month, at least 8 people were shot and injured in a shooting incident in New York. A similar incident was reported in early June 2026, wherein a mass shooting near the annual Old West End Festival in Toledo, Ohio, left at least 12 people injured.
