On 31st August, 31 Bangladeshi illegal immigrants detained across Karnataka’s Bengaluru were sent to West Bengal for deportation to Bangladesh. The arrested Bangladeshi nationals, including women, departed from the Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal along with over 20 police personnel.
Travelling under police escort, the 31 Bangladeshi illegal immigrants are being taken to West Bengal’s Malda via train. After they reach Malda, the authorities will initiate the deportation process to send the Bangladeshi illegals back home.

Bengaluru Police is conducting Operation Mukta to detect, detain and secure the deportation of illegal Bangladeshi illegals residing in the city.
M. Narayana, IPS, DCP of the Electronic City Division, Bengaluru, has appealed to the city residents to inform the police about the presence of illegal immigrants to police and refrain from taking the law into their hands.
The Karnataka Home Department’s data indicates that the State Police have detected over 771 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants across the state in the last three years. Of those identified, around 571 have been deported while 57 remain under arrest.
Earlier this month, the Karnataka government said that out of the 771 identified, 656 were residing in Bengaluru city and 44 in Bengaluru district. The Mangaluru police said that they have identified 23 alleged illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, while 12 have been found in Kolar.
