Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met his 81-year-old schoolmate, Asgarali Vohra, who sought the Prime Minister’s intervention in a land dispute. Asgarali Vohra, who studied with PM Modi at BN School in Gujarat’s Vadnagar, sought a CBI investigation into a decades-old dispute over his 2,810-square-metre plot of land in Mira-Bhayandar.
As per reports, during his meeting with PM Modi on September 8, 2026, Vohra alleged that builders linked to BJP MLA Narendra Mehta used forged documents to grab his property. He handed PM Modi a letter detailing the dispute. Vohra filed an FIR in 2015 regarding the land dispute. The case dragged on for years, and this year, the CID finally submitted a report.
Vohra, however, suspects that since it took over a decade for the CID to file a report in the case, the officials may have acted under political pressure. Last year, a counter-FIR was also allegedly filed against Vohra. After exhausting all his options, Vohra approached his schoolmate PM Modi seeking his help.
The land in Navghar in Bhayander East was purchased by Vohra in 1989 through a duly registered document. However, in 2011, the land was allegedly encroached upon by Swayam Builders and Seven Eleven Constructions. He alleged that the documents relating to his property were forged and that he was not informed about the developments.
He further alleged that a portion of his property is controlled by Swayam Builders and another portion by Seven Eleven Constructions, which he alleged is linked to BJP MLA Narendra Mehta. Vohra said that the Town Planning Department of Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation allowed construction on the disputed land despite his ownership claim. He held the municipal corporation, the Revenue Department officials, and the local police accountable for not taking action against the individuals who forged the property’s documents.
After pursuing the matter with the police, revenue authorities, and the municipal corporation for years, Vohra approached PM Modi and sought his intervention. He requested that the dispute and the role of the builders and government officials be investigated by the CBI.
After his meeting with PM Modi, the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation took cognisance of his grievance. A hearing has been scheduled for September 16, 2026, when the attendance of all the parties to the dispute is required.
