The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Ram Temple donation case in Ayodhya has found no discrepancies in the records and handling of several valuable silver donations, including 200 kg of silver bricks and another 38.288 kg of silver bricks. The findings were mentioned in a status report placed before the Supreme Court.
Silver bricks and other donations verified
The report, dated 16th September 2026, was prepared by the SIT headed by UP IGP Kiran S. The team checked the donations after reports on social media and in the media raised questions about their handling.
Kiran S’s report said, “The involved individuals have been interviewed, and the pertinent materials have been examined by them. No discrepancies were identified during this verification process.” The SIT said it had “duly verified” the specific claims concerning the 200 kg silver bricks, 38.288 kg silver bricks, a silver necklace, Charan Paduka and a donation related to the Ramcharitmanas.
The Supreme Court said receipts generated through TCS software for 803 valuable articles were checked, and their records were found with the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The articles were kept in an SBI locker, which was also physically checked. No discrepancy was found in these 803 items.
The SIT also identified and physically verified 86 valuable articles for which receipts had not been issued.
Nearly 944 kg of silver-like metal checked
The report further said records of around 944.411 kg of white metal, believed to be silver, were sent by the Trust to the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited for melting. The SIT examined the report and related records.
Currency case also under probe
The SIT found 105 instances of unauthorised currency removal or concealment from the temple’s counting room through CCTV and other digital evidence. Eight accused persons have been identified, while statements of 173 witnesses have been recorded.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the Supreme Court that the SIT plans to file its chargesheet by 25th September, before the 90 days from the first arrest ends. The SIT, formed on the Supreme Court’s directions, is accountable to the court and not the temple Trust.
