Modi govt issues statement after attack on Saudi Arabia’s Dammam airport kills 1 Indian national, injures 2 others

The Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia issued a statement following an attack on the Dammam airport in eastern Saudi Arabia, which left an Indian national dead and two injured. The embassy said that it is ascertaining further details and trying to contact the affected families.

“Saudi authorities have informed that one Indian national was among two people who unfortunately lost their lives in the attack on Dammam airport yesterday night and two Indian nationals were injured. We are ascertaining further details and contacting the affected families. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of the deceased, and we wish speedy recovery for the injured,” the Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia said on Thursday (October 22, 2026).

Two people, including an Indian national, were killed and eight, including two Indian nationals, were injured in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday (October 21, 2026) evening. Two Bangladeshi and one Nepali nationals were also among those injured in the attack.

Saudi’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has not yet specified the nature of the attack. However, it comes amid successive attacks by Houthi militants on the country’s oil and civilian infrastructure. The attack on the Dammam airport follows a deadly attack on King Khalid International Airport earlier this month, on October 10, 2026, in which 13 people, including an Indian national, were killed and hundreds were injured.

This was preceded by two earlier attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport and Abha International Airport that happened on October 6 and 7, 2026. The attacks left three people dead and 36 injured. The total casualties in attacks on Saudi’s airport have reached 22 this month so far.
