On 25th October (Sunday), an alarming incident has emerged involving a newlywed couple in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. They were assaulted in broad daylight, and the woman, Tanzim Mansoori, who changed her name to Tejaswini, was forcefully dragged to a vehicle. She continued to protest, but the men picked her up and carried her away.
Afterwards, her husband Tejpal Rajput filed a complaint stating that the incident happened at a notary’s office while they were finalising marriage-related paperwork. He charged that the members of his wife’s family arrived at the location, attacked him and kidnapped her. The authorities registered a case and commenced an investigation. Both are residents of Chhaigaon Makhan village.
Notably, Tanzim has been traced and returned to her husband on 27th October. According to her court statements, she has wished to remain with him and did not want any action against her parents either. She was then permitted to depart with Tejpal. Her family had earlier launched a missing person complaint regarding her.
The marriage ceremony happened at the Mahadevgarh temple at around 11 am, after which the pair visited the notary office. “I am an adult and capable of making my own decisions. I have come with Tejpal of my own free will. We are now married. I was not subjected to any coercion or force. I am very happy with him,” Tanzim expressed in a video after their union.
“I would like to tell my family not to harass Tejpal’s family by involving the police. I came with him of my own volition, so please do not cause any trouble for his family because of me,” she reiterated.

Ashok Paliwal, the custodian of the temple, also noted that the couple had tied the knot of their own free will and had been in a live-in relationship for a considerable duration, after which they decided to take this step. According to him, the two proceeded to a notary office in the Malikuan region for the purpose of preparing necessary documentation following their wedding. However, the woman’s family came to know about it, and they tried to separate them, which he referred to as “injustice” to them.
Tejpal was accompanied by members of Hindu outfits and Plaiwal to the Kotwali police station. He had submitted copies of documents from the Indore court, an affidavit and photographs and videos related to their marriage. Concerns about Tanzim’s safety were raised along with suspicions that she could be pressured to make false allegations against the young man.
Members of Hindu organisations also staged a protest at the police control room, shouting slogans and delivering a memorandum to the superintendent of police, demanding Tanzim’s rescue and action against the perpetrators prior to her reunion with her husband.
