Complaint filed against Goa Sunburn Festival organisers for hurting the Hindu sentiments by insulting Lord Shiva

0

Complaints were filed against the organisers of the Goa Sunburn Festival for insulting the sentiments of people following Sanatana Dharma by displaying Lord Shiva’s image inappropriately. The complaints were lodged by Congress leader Vijay Bhike and various Hindu organisations, including the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, at the Mapusa police station in Goa.

The primary grievance in these complaints revolves around the depiction of Lord Shiva on an LED screen during the festival, where attendees were seen consuming alcohol and engaging in disrespectful activities like indecent dance. The festival, which took place from 28th to 30th December in Vagator, North Goa, has also witnessed other legal violations, including thefts and unauthorised sale of event passes.

Vijay Bhike’s complaint states, “The organisers have intentionally insulted the religious feelings of Hindus by portraying that Lord Shiva supports drinking alcohol, consumption of prohibited substances and other illicit activities that take place during the event.”

Similarly, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, in their complaint, expressed that, “It has been observed that at the present Sunburn Festival, the image of Lord Shiva was flashed on the screen…and people have been drinking alcohol and indecently dancing to loud music. This has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus.”

Additionally, Samiti’s complaint highlighted concerns about communal tension, describing the incident as, “This is also creating communal tension by using God of one religion for communal purpose and could create a law-and-order situation.” They had previously called for a ban on the annual festival, citing the promotion of a “drug culture.”

As of now, no FIR has been registered in this case, but a senior Goa police official has confirmed that they are thoroughly examining the complaints to ascertain the facts of the case.

Apart from these complaints, the Goa Sunburn Festival has encountered other legal issues. The Goa police arrested seven individuals from Mumbai for allegedly stealing high-end mobile phones valued at approximately Rs 25 lakh during the event. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mapusa) Jivba Dalvi confirmed the recovery of 29 mobile phones stolen from festival-goers.

The police had anticipated such incidents and had deployed plainclothes officers at the venue for surveillance. Furthermore, five individuals employed by the festival organisers were apprehended for purportedly stealing passes worth Rs 82 lakh and attempting to sell them, following a complaint lodged by the organisers themselves.

Goa’s Sunburn Festival is no stranger to controversies. Previously embroiled in issues relating to noise pollution, the festival once again found itself amidst allegations of breaching noise pollution regulations this year. Despite stringent measures by the authorities and judicial oversight, the festival’s organisers faced legal action from the police for not adhering to established noise pollution standards during the ongoing event in Goa.

The Goa Police intervened at the Sunburn event at 10 p.m. on Thursday (28th December), acting against the organisers for breaching noise pollution regulations. Following complaints about the festival exceeding permissible sound levels, local law enforcement officials arrived at the scene, leading to the cessation of the program. Additionally, the organisers were formally charged and received a stern warning from the authorities to adhere to noise pollution norms.

Shot in the head, wife struggled to find dead body: Story of Karsevak Ramesh Kumar Pandey who sacrificed his life for Ram Mandir

The construction work of the temple at the birthplace of Lord Ram is going on in full swing in the holy city of Ayodhya. The Ram Lalla idol will be consecrated here on January 22, 2024, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  This historic occasion has created an atmosphere of joy and the spirit of devotion for Bhagwan Ram.

Amidst the happiness over the “return of the king”, the Hindu society remembers all the Karsevaks who sacrificed their lives for the Ramjanmabhoomi from the era of Mughals to Mulayam.

OpIndia’s team has been in Ayodhya since December 2023, where we have met several such families who devoted their lives to the struggle of reclamation of Ram Mandir. Amongst these is the family of Ramesh Kumar Pandey. Pandey was shot dead on November 2, 1990, on the orders of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s government.

Ramesh Kumar Pandey’s family resides in a rented house

The family of the late Ramesh Kumar Pandey resides in the Ayodhya Rani Bazar area. This place is very close to the Hanuman Garhi Temple. When we arrived at his house, it was locked. When we called, a youth named Suresh came out and introduced himself as Ramesh Pandey’s son. Suresh took us inside his home. There were not even enough essential items for daily living in the house. The house where Ramesh Kumar Pandey’s family lives is hundreds of years old.

This house is the property of Ayodhya King, and Ramesh’s family has been residing here for nearly 40 years as tenants. When we asked Suresh if he did not have his own residence, he replied ‘No’

Ramesh Pandey used to support the family by working at a brick kiln

Suresh told us that his father was originally from the neighbouring district of Gonda. In the 1970s and 1980s, he moved to Ayodhya for work. He was a clerk in a brick kiln here. Ramesh, an ardent devotee of Lord Ram, wanted to rent a house near Shri Ramjanmabhoomi. He eventually found a room to rent in Hanuman Garhi, where his family continues to reside. Suresh grew emotional while showing us a picture of his father.

After father’s death, mother raised the family

Ramesh reminisced about his childhood, saying that his father was around 40 years old at the time of his death in 1990. Ramesh’s wife was roughly 35 years old at the time. Ramesh was the father of four children, two daughters and two sons. In his absence, his wife took care of the whole family. Ramesh’s wife raised their children all alone and got them married as well. Suresh runs a modest shop now to support his family.

Ramesh Kumar Pandey was shot in the head on 2nd November 1990

Suresh Pandey recounted what transpired on November 2, 1990, while speaking about his father’s sacrifice. After the firing incident on October 30, 1990, the then-Mulayam Singh-led government believed it had crushed the Ramjanmabhoomi liberation movement. Suresh told us that his father had set out together with a group of devotees towards the Ram Jamnbhoomi with the desire to have the darshan of Lord Ram. Many other residents of Ayodhya were also in the group. Meanwhile, bullets were fired on the orders of the Mulayam Singh government. Ramesh Kumar Pandey was leading the group when a bullet hit his head, and he died on the spot.

The location where Ramesh was shot is close to Hanuman Garhi. This location is just three hundred meters from Ramesh’s residence. The Ayodhya police station is also only half a kilometer from Ramesh’s house and the spot where he was shot dead. It is said that after spotting the group of Ram devotees singing the Ram bhajan, police force that came out laid siege and opened fire, killing Ramesh Kumar Pandey. Suresh says that this pain will stay with him for the rest of his life, even though he was only two years old in 1990.

The heart-wrenching struggle to find Ramesh’s dead body

Suresh told OpIndia about the struggles his mother went through to get her husband’s dead body. It is said that no administrative officer was initially willing to explain what happened to Ramesh Pandey. Her husband’s death was revealed to her by people accompanying Ramesh in the group. Suresh recalls that his mother pleaded incessantly and kept trying to retrieve her husband’s body, foregoing food and water. Eventually, Ramesh Kumar’s body was found among the dead bodies of other victims.

Ramesh’s last rites were conducted in Ayodhya, after the legal formalities. Even at the time of the funeral, Ayodhya Police was present and the people who attended the funeral procession were also under the shadow of guns.

Old newspaper cuttings are still present in Ramesh Pandey’s house

Supreme sacrifice went unacknowledged, and the family struggled for dignity

Suresh told us that after his father died and his mother was struggling with raising a family of four children, nobody came forward to help her. The local administration provided Rs 1 lakh, which was insufficient for sustaining this family. Suresh further said that for the past three decades, forget financial assistance, he and his family have been not been invited to any platform recognising his father’s sacrifice and his family has been deprived of the respect they deserve. However, Suresh is hopeful that in the changed atmosphere in the holy city, the government and people of Hindu society will take care of his house.

“Peace to father’s soul following Ram temple construction”

The late Ramesh Pandey’s family is overjoyed that a spectacular temple of Lord Ram is being constructed. Suresh told us that it felt like his father’s soul had found eternal peace. Suresh opined that the greatest credit for the construction of the temple goes to those Ram devotees who sacrificed their lives. Ramesh’s family also complimented the Modi and Yogi governments for the development of Ayodhya. In addition, Suresh hopes that the present government will erect a memorial in Ayodhya honouring his father’s sacrifice, which will serve as an inspiration to the bhakts of Bhagwan Ram today and in the future.

On 31st December (Sunday), the Police arrested all three accused in the alleged gangrape incident of a female IIT-BHU student near her hostel in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi in November this year. The Crime Branch and Lanka police station arrested the three accused from the Susuwahi area, and the accused are now under interrogation.

As per reports, the arrested accused have been identified as Kunal Pandey from Brij Enclave Colony Sunderpur, and Anand alias Abhishek Chauhan and Saksham Patel from Jivadhipur Bajardiha. The police have also recovered the motorcycle used in the crime.

Speaking to The Indian Express on Sunday morning, a senior police officer said, “The three accused have been arrested. We will release more details during the day.”

The arrests have taken place two months after a female student was allegedly disrobed at gunpoint, gang-raped by three unknown men, and recorded the incident. It had triggered a massive protest on the campus with thousands of students staging a protest against the sexual assault incident.

As per reports, late on the 1st of November night, three unidentified men forcibly kissed the victim student, took off her clothes, and then recorded a video of her. She also alleged that the miscreants had brutally beaten up her friend before sexually molesting her. They snatched her mobile phone and threatened to kill her if she spoke about her ordeal with anyone or approached the police.

In her complaint to the police, the student said, “I am a resident of a hostel at IIT-BHU. On November 2 around 1.30 am, I left my hostel for a walk. I met a male friend at the Gandhi Smriti hostel intersection. We were walking together and when we were 300-400 metres from Karman Baba temple, a motorcycle approached us from behind with three men.”

In her complaint, the victim wrote, “They parked their motorcycle and separated my friend and me. They shut my mouth tightly and took me to a corner, kissed me forcibly; took off all my clothes, and recorded photos and videos. When I shouted for help, they threatened to kill me. They let me go after 10-15 minutes.”

The complaint further stated, “When I ran towards my hostel, I heard the sound of the motorcycle. I got scared and went inside the professor’s house. I stayed there for 20 minutes. After that, the professor escorted me to the main gate of his house. From there, Rahul Rathore of the Parliament Security Committee dropped me to the IIT BHU patrolling guard booth.”

As per reports, on the second day of the incident, all three accused riding a bullet were captured on CCTV cameras in Chetganj. The purported CCTV footage is now viral on social media. Following the confirmation, the police arrested all the accused in this case.

In the initial FIR, a case was lodged against unidentified men under sections 354-B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under the IT Act.

Days later, on the basis of the fresh statement of the victim, police added charges of gangrape to the FIR. IPC sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 507 (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication), and 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) were also added in this case.

Meanwhile, as per various local media reports and social media posts, it is alleged that the arrested accused were connected to the BJP IT cell. It is alleged that Kunal Pandey holds the position of metropolitan coordinator in the BJP IT cell in Varanasi, while Saksham Patel is said to serve as the Varanasi metropolitan co-convenor in the IT cell. Numerous social media users have shared screenshots of the Facebook profiles of the arrested individuals, alleging links with the BJP IT cell.

Kerala: Orthodox church priest and around 50 Christian families join BJP after the party launched ‘Sneha Yatra’ to connect with the community in the state

A priest and fifty families from the Christian community embraced the Bharatiya Janta Party in Kerala on 30th December. The party has been courting the minority population in the state for some time. The saffron party stated on Facebook that around fifty Christian families with Father Shaiju Kurien, Secretary of the Orthodox Church Nilakkal Bhadrasanam located in southern Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district joined the party with Union Minister V Muraleedharan in attendance.

A large number of members of the Kerala Congress (Jacob) faction also became part of the party in the presence of state president K Surendran in the Thrissur district in central Kerala on the same day. Bharatiya Janata Party ascribed the appeal for minorities to join its ranks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi government’s imaginative approach to development and added that it is refuting the idea that misinformation can discourage minorities from entering the party.

“The Modi government is moving ahead with the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.’ Over the past decade, it has shown a strong dedication to development. This is a significant factor motivating minorities to support and join the BJP. Programs like ‘Sneha Yatra’ aim to debunk misconceptions that minority groups have regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party. More people will likely join it in the near future to participate in development politics,” the post read.

This news came soon after the saffron party kicked off its outreach initiative, ‘Sneha Yatra’ which seeks to build stronger connections with the state’s Christian community. The campaign was first started during the Easter season this year and the party resolved to carry out the yatra over the Christmas period at a recent meeting of the state committee.

The prime minister’s Christmas wishes were personally delivered to notable clergymen in the state including Cardinal George Alencherry, the previous leader of the well-known Syro-Malabar Church at St Thomas Mount in Kakkanad and Archbishop Joseph Kalathiparbil of the Latin Archdiocese of Verapoly by the BJP state chief.

On the occasion of Easter, prominent Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and workers had undertaken the yatra and visited houses and places of worship belonging to Christians.

For the first time, a serving Catholic priest in the state joined the BJP in October this year 73-year-old father Kuriakose Mattam was officially accepted into the political party as a primary member, according to confirmation from the Diocese of Idukki. KS Aji, the president of the BJP’s Idukki district unit granted a membership to him. The past three years have been spent by Father Kuriakose Mattam as the parish priest of St. Thomas Church in Mankuva. He has two more years left before he retires. KS Aji reported that after ‘keenly observing’ the current occurrences, the priest decided to sign up for the party.

Interestingly, “Members of the clergy are not allowed to side with a political party. The simple reason being that a parish will have people of different political views and a priest cannot be partisan,” alleged the representative of the diocese.

West Bengal, Delhi and Punjab tableaux rejected for Republic Day ceremony: Ministry of Defence dismisses claims of ‘discrimination’

On Sunday (31st December), the Ministry of Defence (MoD) rubbished allegations of ‘discrimination’ against the States of Punjab, Delhi and West Bengal after their tableaux were not short-listed for the Republic Day Ceremony (RDC) to be held on 26th January 2024.

Sources at MoD pointed out that both Punjab and Delhi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Union government and have agreed to display their tableaux in only one of the three years starting from 26 January next year.

“As states have to be treated equally, it is essential that states should be given the opportunity to display their tableaus as per a formula. GOI is preparing a 3-year program covering all states/UTs which will be shared with all the States/UTs. Hence, the criticism by these states is baseless,” the sources added.

The Ministry of Defence clarified that even though it received proposals for tableaux from all States and Union territories, only 15-16 of them are selected each year for display at the Republic Day Ceremony (RDC).

It has requested all States, which failed to make it to Republic Day Parade of 2024, to display their tableaux at Red Fort in the National Capital between 23rd January and 31st January 2024.

In order to ensure that the process is transparent, MoD has constituted an ‘Expert Committee’ comprising of eminent personalities across various fields to evaluate the tableaux proposal of each State.

Punjab, West Bengal tableaux did not align with 2024’s tableau theme

It added that tableaux for the States of Punjab and West Bengal were considered until the first three and two rounds respectively but the proposals were ultimately dropped for not aligning with the broader theme of RDC.

“The tableau proposal of Punjab was considered in first three rounds of meeting of the Expert Committee. After the third round of meeting, the tableau of Punjab could not be taken forward by the Expert Committee for further consideration for not aligning to the broader themes of this year’s tableau. While, the tableau proposal of West Bengal was considered in first two rounds of meeting of the Expert Committee. After the second round of meeting, the tableau of West Bengal could not be taken forward by the Expert Committee for further consideration for not aligning to the broader themes of this year’s tableau,” the sources added.

History of Punjab, West Bengal tableaux participation in Republic Day Parade

The Ministry of Defence also pointed out that the ‘Expert Committee’ had previously short-listed 6 tableaux of Punjab between 2016-2022 and 5 tableaux of West Bengal in the past 8 years.

During the last few years, the tableau of Punjab has been shortlisted for Republic Day Parade by the Expert Committee in the years 2017 to 2022 (6 times in last 8 years) and the tableau of West Bengal for the years 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023 (5 times in last 8 years) by following same procedure as stated in para 2 above,” the sources added.

PM Modi asserted that there is no greater mantra than “Rashtra Pratham – Nation First” adding that by adhering to this mantra, we Indians will make our country developed and self-reliant.

‘Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir’ founded by Syed Ali Shah Geelani declared ‘Unlawful Association’ under UAPA by union govt

The government of India on 31st December declared ‘Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir (TeH)’ as an ‘Unlawful Association’ under Section 3(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) 1967. Tehreek-e-Hurriyat is a separatist organisation party founded by Syed Ali Shah Geelani. It was founded on 7 August 2004 after Geelani quit his former party Jamaat-e-Islami Kashmir.

As per a notification issued by the home ministry, the objective of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat is to separate Jammu and Kashmir from India and establish Islamic rule in Jammu and Kashmir, and the leaders and members of the group have been involved in raising funds through various sources including Pakistan. The ministry said that TeH and its proxy organisations are perpetrating unlawful activities, including supporting terrorist activities, and sustained stone-pelting on Security Forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

The statement adds that the TeH and its members by their activities show sheer disrespect towards the constitutional authority and constitutional set up of the country. The ministry also notes that members of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat are paying tributes to terrorists who were killed in encounters with Security Forces and its members have been involved in supporting terrorist activities with an intent to create a reign of terror in the country, thereby endangering the security and public order of the State.

“The TeH and its leaders and members, have been indulging in unlawful activities, which are prejudicial to the integrity, sovereignty, security and communal harmony of the country”, and “the TeH never believed in a democratic system of governance and TeH leadership gave repeated calls to boycott assembly elections on multiple occasions,” the ministry statement further said.

As a result, Central Government is of the opinion that if there is no immediate curb or control of unlawful activities of the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir, it will use this opportunity to continue advocating secession of Jammu and Kashmir, continue anti-national activities and continue propagating false narrative and anti-national sentiments, the statement added.

Therefore, the union govt has decided to declare ‘Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir (TeH)’ as an ‘Unlawful Association’ under Section 3(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) 1967. The order will remain in effect for 5 years.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah in his post on ‘X’ said that “The outfit is involved in forbidden activities to separate J&K from India and establish Islamic rule. The group is found spreading anti-India propaganda and continuing terror activities to fuel secessionism in J&K”.

The Home Minister said that “Under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, any individual or organization found involved in anti-India activities will be thwarted forthwith.

The objective of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir (TeH) is to separate Jammu and Kashmir from India and establish Islamic rule in Jammu and Kashmir. This organization has been involved in fomenting terrorism and anti-India propaganda for fueling secessionism in Jammu and Kashmir, which is prejudicial to the sovereignty, security and integrity of India. Many criminal cases have been registered against this organization under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Arms Act, RPC and IPC etc.

“Mandir wahin banne wala hai”- Former Indian fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad shares his prediction for 2024

On 31st December 2023, former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad conducted an “#AskVenky” session on X (formerly Twitter) as the year 2023 comes to an end. In response to a comment asking to fill the blank about what will happen in 2024, the cricketing legend said that the temple of Lord Ram is to be constructed in 2024.

“Last day of the Gregorian Calendar year. Would love to do a candid #AskVenky,” Prasad posted.

An X user who goes by the name “Yo Yo Funny Singh” wrote in reply, “2024 mein ___.”

Responding to this, Venkatesh Prasad wrote, “Mandir wahin banne waala hai (The temple is about to be built).”

Known for his unapologetic opinions, Venkatesh Prasad replied to an X user who wrote, “Since when have you become a sangi.”

“From your perspective, since childhood”.

Venkatesh Prasad also gave a piece of advice to the unholy “I.N.D.I. Alliance” for the year 2024 as an X user asked, “Any advice for Opposition for 2024.”

“Stop belittling or threatening Sanatan Dharma and take a stand against alliance partners doing so,” Prasad wrote.

Moreover, the cricketing stalwart of the 90s also expressed his pride over the construction of the Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and its upcoming consecration ceremony. He thanked the Karsevaks and the Supreme Court for their respective roles in taking the 500-year-old struggle of resistance and reclamation to its rightful conclusion.

“For every person with identifies with what this great land is and the sacrifice of so many karyakartas and kar sevaks, glad that the Supreme Court delivered justice. Proud to have been invited for Pran Pratishtha& 22nd Jan is going to be a great day for this land, one to remember for generations to come. Jai Shree Ram,” Prasad posted.

In response to another comment asking Prasad’s projection for the number of seats the Bhartiya Janata Party might win in the coming Lok Sabha elections, the former cricketer predicted a bigger majority for the BJP than that of 2019. He also pointed out the opposition’s lack of public sentiment.

“Going by the performance in recent State elections and the lack of understanding of the public sentiment by the opposition, looks like a bigger majority than the 2019 Loksabha elections for the BJP,” Prasad posted.

Notably, Venkatesh Prasad has been vocal about the issues concerning the Hindus. Earlier this month, he slammed the anti-Sanatan lobby asserting that the lobby is facing consequences for abusing Sanatan Dharma.

Taking to X, he also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP cadre for the party’s ‘landslide victory’ in these state assembly elections.

On December 3, 2023, he tweeted, “Abusing Sanatana Dharma was bound to have its consequences. Many congratulations to the BJP for a landslide victory. Just another testimony of the amazing leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji & Amit Shah & great work by the party cadre at grass root levels. #ElectionResults”

Mann ki Baat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi urges people to upload creative work on Ram Mandir with hashtag #ShriRamBhajan on social media

On 31st December, during this year’s final episode of “Mann Ki Baat”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his thoughts on the national “excitement and enthusiasm” surrounding the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on 22nd January next year. He also encouraged people to use the hashtag ‘Shri Ram Bhajan’ to post their artistic creations on social media. He pointed out that individuals had penned several devotional songs and poems on Lord Ram and Ayodhya and he advised them to post them online with the hashtag.

He stated, “My family members, there is excitement and enthusiasm in the entire country in connection with the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. People are expressing their feelings in a multitude of ways. You must have noticed that during the last few days, many new songs and new bhajans have been composed on Shri Ram and Ayodhya. Many people are also writing new poems. There are many experienced artists in it and new emerging young artists have also composed heart-warming bhajans. I have also shared some songs and bhajans on my social media. It seems that the art world is becoming a participant in this historic moment in its own unique style,” while addressing the audience.

“One thing comes to my mind, could we all share all such creations with a common hashtag,” he inquired and added, “I request you to share your creations on social media with the hashtag Shri Ram Bhajan (#ShriRamBhajan). This compilation will turn into a flow of emotions and devotion in which everyone will be immersively imbued with the ethos of Ram.” The prime minister as well as other prominent figures including politicians, actors, sports persons, industrialists and religious leaders are scheduled to arrive at Ayodhya for the consecration ceremony of Ram Mandir.

He mentioned that he had utilised the artificial intelligence technology ‘Bhashini’ for the first time in public to speak with the thousands of people who had travelled from Tamil Nadu to Kashi for the Kashi Tamil Sangamam. “The day is not far when an address will be delivered in one language and the public will listen to the same speech in their own language in real-time. The day is not far when an address will be delivered in one language and the public will listen to the same speech in their own language in real-time. The same will happen with films also when the public will listen to real-time translation with the help of AI in the cinema hall.”

A section on mental and physical health was also included in the broadcast as part of the ‘Fit India’ campaign. Notable individuals such as chess champion Vishwanathan Anand, actor Akshay Kumar, Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur and founder of the Isha Foundation Sadhguru Jagadish Vasudev shared their fitness knowledge.

He highlighted, “Friends, today every corner of India is brimming with self-confidence, imbued with the spirit of a developed India, the spirit of self-reliance. We have to maintain the same spirit and momentum in 2024 as well. The record business on Diwali proved that every Indian is giving importance to the mantra of ‘Vocal For Local’. PM Modi talked about how he received congratulations on India’s moon mission, specifically Chandrayaan-3 and expressed his admiration for the nation’s scientists, particularly the women who work in the field.

He recounted the major successes of the movie RRR’s Natu-Natu song and the documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ on the international platform including the Oscars. “Through them, the world saw the creativity of India and understood our bonding with the environment. This year our athletes also performed marvellously in sports. Our players won 107 medals in the Asian Games and 111 medals in the Asian Para Games. Indian players won everyone’s hearts with their performance in the Cricket World Cup. The victory of our women’s cricket team in the Under-19 T-20 World Cup is very inspiring. The achievements of players in many other sports added to the glory of the country. Now Paris Olympics will be held in 2024, for which the whole country is encouraging her players.”

The prime minister remarked, “In these 108 episodes, we have seen many examples of public participation and derived inspiration from them. Now after reaching this milestone, we have to resolve to move forward afresh, with new energy and at a faster pace. And what a joyous coincidence it is that tomorrow’s sunrise will be the first sunrise of 2024, we would have entered the year 2024. Best wishes to all of you for 2024.”

He ended his speed with optimism for the future and wished, “May you all reach new heights of success in 2024, may you all stay healthy, stay fit, stay immensely happy, this is my prayer. In 2024 we will once again discuss the new achievements of the people of the country.”
