Pakistani journalist’s son bludgeons his Canadian national wife to death with a dumbbell, Pakistanis seek #JusticeForSara: Details

0

On Friday (September 23) morning, the son of a renowned Pakistani journalist killed his wife of 3 months in Shahzad Town of Islamabad in Pakistan.

As per reports, the accused was identified as Shahnawaz Amir. He is the son of renowned Pakistani journalist Ayaz Amir and his wife Sameena Shah. Shahnawaz had married the victim, identified as a Canadian national Sara Inam, about three months ago. She worked in Abu Dhabi but moved to Islamabad at the insistence of Shahnawaz’s parents.

A day before the brutal murder, Sara had a fight with the accused after the latter changed the ownership of her Mercedes car to his name without her knowledge. On Friday morning, they fought again over the same issue and an angry Shahnawaz then bludgeoned her to death.

Reportedly, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Shahzad Town police station, Nawazish Ali Khan, was informed by the accused’s mother about the gruesome killing of Sara Inam. On receiving information, he rushed to the farmhouse with a team of police officials.

The cops detained Shahnawaz, whose hands were said to be soaked in blood. As per reports, the accused confessed to killing his wife with a dumbbell and hiding her dead body in the bathtub of his bathroom.

The police recovered the body of the deceased, besides the murder weapon that was hidden under the bed. Sara’s body was sent to the Polyclinic Hospital in Islamabad for autopsy.

Arrest warrant issued against parents, Shahnawaz remanded to 2-day custody

On Saturday (September 24), a local court in Islamabad issued warrants for the arrest of Shahnawaz Amir’s parents. The court had also remanded the accused to 2-day police custody.

However, the police had initially sought 10 days remand of Shahnawaz. They also sought custody of his parents under the belief that they could influence the probe in the case. According to a police official, the duo went into hiding after the issuance of the arrest warrant. The police official confirmed that efforts were underway to nab them at the earliest.

Calls for Justice for Sara took the Pakistani internet by storm

The incident sparked a massive social media outrage, with celebrities and influencers speaking out about the plight of women in the Islamic republic.

Artist Muniba Mazari wrote, “Another day. Another life. Another hashtag. This society has raised monsters & this ongoing vicious cycle of violence & terror seems never-ending. While Noor Muqaddam still awaits justice, we’ve lost Sara, another soul, another human killed by her own husband! #JusticeForSara”

Feminist Maheen Ghani questioned the deafening silence on the murder of Sarah Inam. “Is it because he’s Ayaz Amir’s son? #JusticeforSara”, she asked.

“We haven’t yet gotten justice for Noor Muqaddam and #JusticeforSara is trending. How many hashtags is it going to take as the dead bodies of brutally murdered Pakistani women pile up? Justice through hashtag isn’t working. Systemic rot is delaying justice. Take a look at that,” wrote journalist Saba Eitizaz.

Journalist Asma Ali Zain pointed out, “We believe that when a woman is educated and financially independent, it becomes easier to walk away from toxic relations. But neither could Noor do that nor Sarah. Toxic men just don’t stop until a woman stops existing. #JusticeforSara”

Journalist Hamza Azhar Salam pointed out the political connection between Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf and murder accused Shahnawaz Amir.

“Unfortunate that most PTI leaders are not condemning Ayaz Amir’s son for murdering his wife just because the father-son duo enjoy a close relationship with Imran Khan. Ayaz Amir once sought a PMLN ticket for his son but it was rejected by the party,” he emphasised.

Earlier, the high-profile murder case of Noor Mukadam had generated shockwaves across Pakistan. The 27-year-old woman was killed on the night of July 20 by her boyfriend Zahir Jaffar.

Mukadam was the daughter of former Pakistani diplomat to South Korea and Kazakhstan, Shaukat Ali Mukadam. She was shot then stabbed and mercilessly beheaded with a sharp weapon by Jaffar. The accused is the son of the chief executive officer of a leading construction company in Islamabad.

Reports suggested that Jaffar had brutally murdered the victim after she broke up with him. He could not handle the refusal and killed her. He was arrested on the spot and taken to the police station.

London: Police increase security of Hindu temples after Islamists plan demonstration outside Sanatan Hindu Mandir, MP Barry Gardiner asks protestors to stay away

After Islamists called for a large-scale protest outside the Shree Sanatan Hindu Mandir in Wembley in London on Sunday, the police have increased security around Hindu temples in the area, including the target temple. Barry Gardiner, MP for North Brent, also directed police to beef up security at the temple after messages calling for a protest outside the temple were circulated on social media. Gardiner also advised Hindus not to congregate outside the temple to ‘defend’ it and warned Islamists of legal action.

The Police have started patrolling Hindu temples in the Borough of Brent amid threats of protests by Islamists. “Police are patrolling religious premises across the borough, currently visiting the Shri Vallabh Nidhi Mandir Temple in Wembley,” Brent police tweeted on Saturday. It is notable that the Santan Hindu Mandir is run by Shri Vallabh Nidhi and therefore some people call it Shri Vallabh Nidhi Mandir Temple.

On Sunday, Brent police tweeted, “We continue our patrols of religious establishments across the diverse borough of Brent. Visiting Shree Swaminarayan Temple Kingsbury.”

Following the Leicester violence, Islamists have called for a mass protest in front of the Shree Sanatan Hindu Mandir in London on Sunday (September 25), falsly accusing it of sending ‘busloads of RSS supporters’ to Leicester. The said Hindu temple is located on Ealing Road in Wembley, northwest London.

The development came just days after Islamists propagated rumours that the Hindu temple was harbouring and ferrying Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) workers to Leicester via a travel agency in order to allegedly incite communal strife. Islamists had called the Shree Sanatan Hindu Mandir a ‘hornet’s nest of Nazi Hindutva’ and called for gathering outside its premises on Sunday for a demonstration.

On Sunday, after Islamists called for a large-scale protest outside the Shree Sanatan Hindu Mandir in Wembley, the temple’s Chairman released an appeal for peace. Two Muslim men were also standing next to him, and one of them said that they agree with the appeal made by the Temple committee chairman.

“We are a peaceful community that has always lived in harmony with its multifaith surroundings.” (We have done so) without incident for many decades and plan to continue doing so in the future,” the temple Chairman was heard saying.

“We strongly advise everyone to do so.” We believe that these protests (outside the temple premises) should not take place for the sake of peace and harmony of all the communities,” he stressed.

Naomi Canton, a London-based journalist pointed out that a protest is planned outside the Hindu temple and Hindus are being asked to leave it to the police to handle. “There is a protest planned outside a Hindu temple in Wembley on Sunday. Hindus are being urged not to go to the temple to defend it and to leave the police to manage the situation,” Canton tweeted.

The outbreak of Islamist violence began shortly after India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup group-stage match on August 28. Leicester City, in England’s East Midlands, has seen a rise in targeted attacks on the Hindu minority.

0

On Tuesday, a high school student named Aditya Tiwari was murdered in Jalalpur in Bihar in front of the school. the 10th-class student was stabbed with a knife during a fight with some students, and the attackers fled after fatally attacking him. Now, it has come to light that was killed over an affair with a girl that attended coaching classes with him. Reportedly, the youths killed Tiwari over a girl from a neighbouring village who attended classes in the coaching centre in Bhatkesari.

Tiwari had earlier gotten into a fight with the other youths at the coaching centre, and when he arrived at his school to appear for the exam, he was confronted by them, who were appearing for them. They launched an attack on him in front of the school and stabbed him with a knife. Reportedly, three boys have been identified as the main culprits in the case, and coincidently all of them are from the Muslim community.

The incident occurred when the second term exams were going on in the school, and the question papers were already distributed. At that time some students spotted Aditya Tiwari and informed the teachers. He was immediately rushed to the community hospital where he was declared brought dead. After the incident, the students and teachers fled from the school.

The motive of the murder was uncovered following the arrest of two of the accused and their interrogation. Reportedly, both of them are minors. At present, the main conspirator who has been identified as Taif aka Sonu Khan is absconding. The cops are also questioning the coaching centre owners. In the meanwhile, the coaching centre in Bhatkesari Bazar and the school both are currently closed following the incident. Both the arrested accused have been kept at the Kopa police station for questioning.

The Jalalpur police retrieved the knife used to murder Aditya Tiwari from Enamipur village. The knife was found in a field at the side of the road. After the incident, the three accused threw away the knife. SFL will investigate the knife, according to Jalalpur Police.

In the meanwhile, the situation is tense in the area over the murder, and the school was vandalised by angry people from the locality. Headmaster-in-charge Prabhatesh Pandey said that the benches and desks of the school were broken and a LED TV was also damaged during the attack. As a result, the teachers from the school went to the District Education Officer’s office and demanded a security guarantee. They have said that will not run the school without security. The Headmaster-in-charge has lodged a complaint about the attack on the school following the incident, and the police have registered a case against unknown people.

Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA Shalabh Mani Tripathi took to Twitter to demand justice for Aditya Tiwari. “Aditya Tiwari of Bihar was only 15 years old when he was murdered in his school by Taif, Shahid, and Arshad, three barbarians who used to tease schoolgirls every day. Aditya had shown bravery and fought them!! #JusticeForAditya,” he tweeted. He also posted an Instagram story posted by the main accused where he had written ‘Aak Jalalpur me khela hoe’. In another video, the accused was seen cutting a cake with a country-made pistol.

According to the Jalalpur police, Raids are being carried out to apprehend the third accused and primary conspirator, Taif aka Sonu Khan.

Ankita Bhandari murder: Concerns raised over the demolition of resort as it may have destroyed evidence

0

Concerns have been raised over the demolition of the Vanantra resort in Ganga Bhojpur, Rishikesh, which was demolished after the revelations involving the murder of a 19-year-old girl Ankita Bhandari. As per reports, the room of Ankita, which was sealed by police to save the forensic evidence, was the first to be demolished.

As per a report by Amar Ujala, Police are investigating the matter as to who ordered the demolition as it has come to light that the demolition drive, which was halted halfway, was not ordered by the district administration. As per the report, the bulldozer first demolished Ankita’s room and then went on to demolish the front part of the resort. However, it stopped after a while and returned from the spot the next morning.

Now, the police are investigating who was behind the demolition. The report stated that Ankita’s room now lays open and there are chances of evidence being tampered with. Locals claim that the destruction was carried out to erase the evidence. Tampering with evidence is a violation of the law. The administration, on the other hand, is looking into the incident. According to ASP Shekhar Suyal, action would be taken against the accused in accordance with the regulations following an inquiry by the administration.

It was reported that officials had begun the destruction of the resort a day after Pulkit Arya, the son of a former BJP leader, and two workers of a resort he owned were detained by Uttarakhand police on suspicion of killing 19-year-old receptionist Ankita Bhandari. However, it has now come to the fore that the demolition was not ordered by the administration.

Ankita Bhandari murder case

Three people were arrested by the Uttarakhand Police on Friday, September 23, in connection with the murder of Ankita Bhandari. The three people who were detained have been identified as resort manager Ankit, Saurabh, and Pulkit Arya, the son of former state politician Vinod Arya.

According to the reports, Ankita worked as a receptionist in the Yamkeshwar Vidhan Sabha’s Ganga Bhojpur resort named Vanantra resort which is owned by Pulkit Arya. She was reported missing five days before the arrests. However, the police launched an investigation after the girl’s family reported a missing case and feared murder. The culprits have informed police that Ankita was murdered after an argument as she was refusing the demand of the resort owner for sexual favours for himself and his guests in the resort.

The police interrogated the three accused who confirmed that Ankita Bhandari had been murdered. According to ASP Shekhar Suyal, the three accused murdered the girl and threw her in the Rishikesh Chila barrage. The dead body of the girl was recovered later.

OpIndia Impact: Thermal cameras to be installed on the Indo-Nepal border, operators of Madarsas in border villages missing, pujari’s killer held after 2 years

The OpIndia team visited the Indo-Nepal border from August 20 to August 27, 2022, to learn about the ground realities of the demographic change amid the growing Muslim population and media reports of Islamic places of worship along the border. During this time, we obtained information about the Indian districts of Shravasti, Balrampur, Maharajganj, and Siddharthnagar, as well as the Dong and Kapilvastu districts in Nepal. From September 3rd, 2022, we began posting all of the information we had gathered one by one.

This series has 21 reports published as of Saturday (September 24, 2022). The reporting has also had a significant impact on the government and administration, as witnessed not just in India but also in Nepal.

Madarsas on the Shravasti border locked

On September 6, 2022, OpIndia published a report on the increasing number of Islamic worship places in the Shravasti district. We included information regarding mazars and dargahs in common spaces in the Shravasti district in this report. During our ground reporting, we visited the Nepal border areas and obtained statements from the Khadims of these dargahs.

Our ground report has now had a significant impact. According to a report published in ‘ABP News’ on September 23, 2022, when administrative authorities from the Shravasti district went to examine the madarsas near the Nepal border, the operators of several of these madarsas were reportedly missing and these madarsas were locked up.

Thermal cameras to be installed on the Nepal border

OpIndia published a report on smuggling from one country to another on the Indo-Nepal border on September 5, 2022. In this, we mentioned certain incidents in the districts of Bahraich, Balrampur, and Siddharthnagar in which the actions of Nepalese criminals and smugglers within Nepal and within India were described with proof. Then we went over a number of events, chronologically, in which criminals or smugglers belonged to a specific group.

Aside from that, on September 21, 2022, OpIndia released a report on DSP Sunil Dutt Dubey’s remarks from the Nichlaul border in Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh. He highlighted the importance of installing CCTV cameras along the Indo-Nepal border. He felt it would help strengthen the border monitoring system.

On the same day, Amar Ujala reported that the Superintendent of Police of the Bahraich district, Keshav Chaudhary, had announced the installation of thermal sensor cameras along the Indo-Nepal border. Afterward, he declared that the task of placing wires etc for this project will begin shortly. According to the report, this decision was taken by the Government of India.

DM and SP on border visit

In all of its reports on the Indo-Nepal border, OpIndia has expressly emphasised the Balrampur district. These accounts describe the takeover of territories not just on the Jarwa border, but also on routes going to other border districts and up to the city’s temples.

Following the publication of the 21 segments of our report, the District Magistrate and SP of Balrampur district jointly visited the border regions. Balrampur Police has released the specifics of this visit on their official Facebook page, and it is reported that the inspection was undertaken for security reasons.

Murderer of temple priest arrested

In its findings published earlier this month, OpIndia highlighted the growing Muslim population in Nepal, as well as the increase in Islamic worship places and religious radicalism in the area. Then we discussed how incidents of ‘love jihad‘ and ‘land jihad’ are on the rise in Nepal. OpIndia’s team also visited the districts of Dong and Kapilvastu to understand the ground situation there.

According to news released in Nepali media agency ‘Rashtra Sandesh’ on September 12, 2022, a man named Mohammad Qasim was arrested for shooting and killing 68-year-old priest Siyaram Shah of Hanuman temple in August 2020 in Nepal’s Rauthat district. The police launched an intense campaign two years after the murder. Narullahalai, the Dewahi Gonahi municipality’s then-ward president, was the main conspirator in this murder.

UK: Wembley Hindu temple’s Chairman gives a message of peace while surrounded by two Muslim men, hours after threats of violence by Islamists

Hours after Islamists called for a large-scale protest outside the Shree Sanatan Hindu Mandir in Wembley on Sunday, the Chairman of the temple issued a statement of peace. He was ghearoed by two Mulsim men, sporting skull caps and long beards.

“We are a peaceful community and have always been living in harmony with multi-faith surroundings. (We are doing so) for the past many decades without any problems and hope to do it forever”, the temple Chairman was heard a saying.

“We strongly encourage everyone to do so. We believe that these protests (outside the temple premises) should not take place for the sake of peace and harmony of all the communities,” he emphasised.

“Let us all hold unity and respect for each other,” the temple Chairman concluded. One Muslim man, standing by his side, appeared to nod in agreement.

Islamists peddled conspiracy theories to defame Hindu temple, called for mass mobilisation of Muslims

After the attack on Hindus in Leicester, Islamists called for a mass mobilisation outside the Shree Sanatan Hindu Mandir in London from 12 pm onwards on Sunday (September 25).

The development came days after Islamists spread the rumour that the Hindu temple has been harbouring and ferrying Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) workers, via a travel agency, to Leicester to supposedly foment communal tensions.

In a tweet, Australian research scholar Sarah L Gates pointed out how an Instagram account had been instigating violence against the Hindu community. “So what are you going to do? Dress up like ISIS then scream at the Hindus to denounce RSS – a non-terror entity?” she asked.

“Is it time to scrap all taxpayer funding to any Islamic orgs who are feeding this?” she further pointed out. The Instagram story, shared by Sarah L Gates, belonged to an account named ‘Apna Muslims.’

In a story, the handle demonised the Shree Sanatan Hindu Mandir as the ‘hornet’s nest of Nazi Hindutva’ and called for gathering outside its premises. In this way, ‘Apna Muslims’ laid a perfect ground for Islamists to justify any attacks on the temple. The Instagram account boasts of 1240+ followers and is dedicated to promoting Islamist causes in the United Kingdom.

On September 18, a Twitter user named aart123 posted a 1-minute long video, alleging that a bus belonging to Angel Tours has been ferrying ‘masked Hindutva thugs’ to Leicester. It also claimed that the supposed mobilisation of Hindus was being done at the behest of the Hindu temple. The video showed a coach belonging to Angel Tours parked near the temple.

Soon after, Islamists dug out a year-old picture which showed a group of people holding a BJP flag, standing in front of an Angel Tours bus. “This is the coach in Leicester Angel Tours belonging to Ealing Temple London and the group openly supports BJP,” wrote one Ash.

However, the owner of the tour company, Angel Tours, denied all the allegations, and said that his buses did not go to Leicester for the past 2 months. He clarified that the buses of his company always stop in front of the temple as it is a major landmark and people are well-acquainted with the place.

The owner Yatin Bhimani said that his buses are parked there only for convenience, and his coach company has no link with the temple.

In a tweet in Persian, Kamfirouzi said, “This morning, security agents raided the house of my client Niloofar Hamedi, journalist of Shargh newspaper, arrested her, searched her house, and confiscated her belongings. Any news about Niloofar Hamedi is published through me or her husband, Mohammad Hossein Ajarlo (Translated using Google Translate).” It is unclear what charges she would face.
