Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal unfollows ‘journalists’, Bollywood entertainers, radio jockeys over criticism during Delhi riots

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal last night ‘unfollowed’ his support and fan base on Twitter after they criticised him over the current law and order situation in Delhi following the riots in national capital. In middle of the riots which broke out in Delhi last afternoon which has till now claimed lives of three people including a police officer, Radio Mirchi RJ Sayema, who has been quite a vocal Aam Aadmi Party supporter and has gone as far as soft-promoting AAP on her radio show, questioned Arvind Kejriwal’s ‘silence’ during the violence.

Sayema sarcastically put across her anger that the reports of communal tension in Chand Bagh did not solicit a reaction from popularly elected Kejriwal. Soon after her tweet, Kejriwal tweeted to urge the LG and Home Ministry to restore law and order in the national capital. Only then was Sayema relieved.

Except, the sarcasm didn’t go down quite well with Kejriwal who eventually unfollowed her on Twitter.

Along with her, Kejriwal also unfollowed other anti-Modi ‘journalists’ like Abhisar Sharma who urged Kejriwal to ‘speak out’ and end his opportunistic politics.

Abusive troll Swati Chaturvedi also tweeted similar appeal but Kejriwal didn’t unfollow her because he never followed her in the first place.

Also unfollowed by Kejriwal last night was junior Bollywood entertainer Swara Bhaskar. All she had done was tweeted and instructed Aam Aadmi Party leaders to do more than ‘tweet’.

This didn’t go down quite well with Kejriwal who promptly did more than tweeting and simply unfollowed her.

Amusingly, Kejriwal also unfollowed former AAP members like Krishan Pratap Singh and Arvind Jha for generally being critical of AAP in recent times. This is not the first time Kejriwal has cut off those who are critical of AAP. Earlier he had kicked out AAP founding member Kumar Vishwas, Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan amongst many others.

Man who opened fire at police during Delhi riots identified as Shahrukh: Here is how The Quint tried to hide his identity and affiliation to Islamists

On the day of US President Donald Trump’s visit to India, the national capital has witnessed unprecedented violence. A Delhi police constable has lost his life in the riots that have ensued in the national capital in wake of the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Another DCP has been injured during clashes between two groups in Delhi’s Gokulpuri. In the midst of all this, the photograph of a certain gun-wielding rioter wearing a maroon t-shirt has gone viral on social media. Some people claim that the gun man who opened fire at police during Delhi riots is from the ‘rightwing’ while others have claimed that the said person is a Muslim rioter.

Source: Twitter

Several Muslim anti-CAA rioters went on a rampage after a clash broke out between Pro-CAA and Anti-CAA groups in Maujpur near Jeffrabad, thereby leading to open firing in an attempt to intimidate the cops countering the mob, heavy stone-pelting and vandalism of public property. However, despite all evidence to the contrary, the usual suspects on Twitter are trying hard to blame ‘Bhagwa terror’ for the ruckus.

A video of the man confronting a policeman with a gun has also spread like wildfire on social media. In the video, the man can be seen pointing the gun at the policeman as the latter stands his ground. Later, stone-pelters join him and that is when the policeman moves back from his original position.

The Police has now confirmed that the man has been identified as one Shahrukh.

Amidst all of this, the behaviour of one particular ‘media outlet’ has been very questionable. The featured image of a report shared by the Leftist anti-BJP propaganda outlet The Quint shows the same man in the presence of people wearing skull-caps with evidence of arson in the background. The colour pattern of the clothing matches perfectly with the same as the gun-wielding man.

The screenshot of the tweet by The Quint

However, for reasons that are known best to The Quint, the featured image of the report was changed as of the time of writing this report. But we can safely guess what those reasons might be. The featured image that was used by The Quint was actually captured by the PTI.

Source: PTI

The high-resolution image of the same as shared by The Quint which is still available on Google makes it pretty clear and obvious that it is the same person. The attire of the people in the photo makes it pretty clear that the person was with those from the Muslim community.

A high-resolution image of the PTI photo

Furthermore, a video shared by Aishwarya S. Iyer, senior correspondent at The Quint, further confirms that the baskets which can be seen in the above pictures were being carried by people from the Muslim community.

Intriguingly enough, the current featured image of the report on The Quint appears to show the same area and the same scene but without the gun-wielding man in it. The current featured image makes it abundantly clear the nature of the mob the gun-wielding man was trotting around with.

Current featured image used by The Quint

Thus, quite clearly, it appears that The Quint deliberately made an attempt to hide the political affiliations of the gun-wielding man so that rumours could be fueled about the same on social media. The propagandist nature of The Quint is quite well known and at OpIndia, we have documented their propagandist inclinations quite significantly. Earlier, Facebook had removed a fake ‘Fact-Check’ by The Quint where the propaganda outlet claimed that the slogan “Hinduon Se Azadi” was never chanted by the Jamia students.

The Quint had also tried to whitewash the Islamist attack on Durga Puja visarjan in Balrampur. It was also forced to delete a sob-story video of an alleged Muslim cab driver it had published earlier in the day in order to fuel an anti-NRC sentiment across the country. The deletion came after filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri accused the propaganda website of paying the ‘cab driver’ for the video and claimed that the alleged ‘cab driver’ was, in fact, a junior actor in Bollywood.

India puts in a formal request to Great Britain for restitution of the 15th-Century murti stolen from Tamil Nadu

India has formally demanded from Britain the return of a 15th-century Bronze murti which was believed to have been stolen from Tamil Nadu and eventually made its way to a UK museum through auction.

The Ashmolean Museum at the University of Oxford acquired the figurine of Saint Tirumankai Alvar from Sotheby’s auction house in 1967 from the collection of a collector named J R Belmont (1886-1981).

The murti is believed to have been stolen from a temple in Tamil Nadu, after which it was auctioned at an auction in London, and finally, the murti was eventually found at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford University. (Ashmolean Museum) arrived.

According to the museum authorities, when informed about the origins of the murti in November last year by an independent researcher, it alerted the Indian High Commission and initiated the verification process.

A statement released by the Ashmolean Museum said that the research from the photo archive of IFP-EFEO (Institute Française de Pondicherry and the Ecol Française d’Extreme Orient) appears to show an uncanny resemblance to the bronze in the temple of Shri Soundarrajaperumal Kovil in Tamil Nadu in 1957, confirming murti’s provenance.

“It was informed to the Ashmolean Museum that the bronze is similar to the number of bronzes in collections in Europe and the United States identified by the aforesaid researcher through the IFP-EFEO archive,” the statement said.

The Museum claimed that it had no inkling as to how the bronze entered its collection, adding that investigations are underway with the help of Indian High Commission. The Museum said that the murti was acquired in “good faith” in 1967.

Though no claims were made against the statue, the Museum proactively brought the matter to the attention of Indian High Commission on December 16 last year by seeking more information, possibly police records to establish the figurine’s origins.

Acknowledging the Museum’s request, Indian High Commissioner in the UK Ruchi Ghanashyam forwarded the matter to the Indian authorities with a formal request for restitution of the murti sent to the Museum earlier this month.

The First Secretary (Trade) at the Indian High Commission in London said that that the police report furnished by the Idol wing clearly shows that the murti as found in the IFP archives was stolen and replaced with a counterfeit one and that the stolen statue is in Ashmolean Museum’s possession.

“After we have tendered them a formal request for restitution and provided them with the police report, the Museum has informed us that they are carrying out further due diligence, with an official from Ashmolean also scheduled to visit India shortly. We have asked them to speed up the process so the final decision can be taken without any further delay,” he said.

Gujarat: Communal flare-up between two communities in Khambat leaves 13 injured, shops and houses torched

0

Communal clashes broke out between two communities in Akhbarpura neighbourhood of the Khambat taluka in Anand district as the enraged mob set aflame shops, houses and vehicles. This is the second such strife between the two communities in the last one month.

Earlier on January 24, a communal clash between the two communities and resulted in the death of one person. According to the police, the investigations are underway to determine the exact reason that triggered communal violence.

The police said that at least 25 houses and shops were burnt down by the members of the two sparring communities. The Superintendent of Police, Kheda who is at present in charge of the neighbouring district of Anand, Divya Mishra said, “The area has a past history of communal violence. However, the exact reason why the clash broke out today is yet to be determined. Investigations are underway as the FIR filing is under process. About 46 people have been arrested by the police so far. At least 15-20 shops have been set on fire by the rioters belonging to both the communities but the assessment of damage is yet to be done. The clash also witnessed incidents of arson and stone-pelting. No one has suffered any major injury in the case. Six of those admitted in the hospital have been discharged as well.”

About 100 policemen have been deployed in Akhbarpura, the epicentre of the violent clash to restore normalcy in the region. According to the sources, the situation deteriorated as the violence between the two communities intensified, prompting police personnel to resort to lathi-charge and tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.

Watch: Man heard saying ‘Hindu ki gaadi jala di, Hindu ki dukanein jala rahe hain’ in video of Delhi riots

Violence and anarchy have erupted across Delhi on the day of Donald Trump’s official visit to India. A Delhi police constable has lost his life in the riots that have ensued in the national capital in wake of the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Another DCP has been injured during clashes between two groups in Delhi’s Gokulpuri.

Now, Tanushree Pandey, a journalist at India Today and Aaj Tak, has shared a video of the Delhi violence through her Twitter account which appears to throw some light into the nature of the violence. In the video, a person can be heard saying in the background, ‘Hindu ki gaadi jala di, Hindu ki dukanein jala rahe hain’ (They have burnt Hindu’s vehicles, are burning Hindu shops).

Tanushree Pandey shared the video with the caption, “All this happening in the National Capital. Can’t believe my eyes as I report from ground zero in #Maujpur and witness all this”. We cannot vouch for the authenticity of the video or the claims made therein by the individual whose voice can be heard in the video.

Meanwhile, a petrol pump has also been set on fire at Bhajanpura in East Delhi. While the riots by anti-CAA Islamists and the stone pelting has caused the death of a head constable, the ‘students’ of Jamia have now planned a protest march against “police brutality” in Delhi.

Violence in several parts of Delhi appears orchestrated to coincide with US President’s India visit: MHA sources

A Delhi Police constable lost his life and 37 other police personnel, including a DCP, were injured Monday after violence erupted in the northeast Delhi on the second consecutive day. According to the government sources, MHA believes it’s a deliberate conspiracy to orchestrate violence in the national capital while the US President Donald Trump is on a two-day visit to India.

The Sources close to MHA believe that the violence was choreographed to clash with US President Donald Trump’s visit to India. The American President who is on a two-day visit to India will be in Delhi tomorrow where he will meet with PM Modi and President Kovind before departing for the United States.

Clashes broke out across the national capital again as anti-CAA protesters escalated their efforts to spread anarchy in the national capital by resorting to arson and stone-pelting. A petrol pump was set on fire at Bhajanpura in East Delhi and many vehicles have been burnt.

Delhi Police took to Twitter to inform about the violent incidents in several parts of the city. It said that districts, especially in the areas of Maujpur, Kardampuri, Chand Bagh and Dayalpur have witnessed extensive violence and incidents of arson. It also appealed to people to maintain peace and harmony.

As the situation in Delhi remains tensed, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi tweeted that Delhi Police and Delhi Police Commissioner have been instructed to ensure law and order is maintained in the city. He has also exported residents to exercise restraint for upholding peace and harmony.

The violence comes on the heels of yet another Shaheen Bagh-kind of gathering mounted by a group of over 500 Muslim women near the Jafrabad Metro Station.  The protesters blocked road No. 66, which connects Seelampur to Maujpur and Yamuna Vihar and were demonstrating against the enactment of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). The protestors warned that the road would be blocked until CAA is revoked. The police tried to negotiate with the demonstrators to clear the road, but it was in vain. It resulted in traffic woes and massive security deployment in the area.

Earlier, protesting group of Muslim women had blocked one of the busiest thoroughfares of Delhi in Shaheen Bagh to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Act. The protests which have now entered its third month has seen hundreds of Muslim women squatting the road to coerce the government into revoking the Citizenship Amendment Act. The model was replicated at Jaffrabad Metro station where protesters staged a similar demonstration against the CAA, causing a ruckus and massive inconvenience to the commuters.

After months of drama, Sunni Waqf Board ‘graciously’ accept alternate 5 acre land to build Mosque, away from Ram Janmabhoomi

0

The months of vacillation whether to accept or reject the Supreme Court’s offer of a 5-acre land to build a mosque at an alternative site in Ayodhya drew to an end as the Sunni Waqf Board on Monday decided to accept the allotment of 5 acres of land suggested by the top court in the Ram Janmabhoomi and has also decided to build a Mosque on it.

Earlier, the Board had shown reluctance in accepting the court offer after suggestions poured in from several quarters asking it to reject the offer made by the apex court. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi too had requested the Board to reject the offer, saying that they were fighting for their rights and they don’t need any land in charity.

The Sunni Board’s demurral to accept 5-acre-land was strengthened after the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) decided to file a review petition in the Ayodhya dispute case. Though the Board said that it was not going to file a review petition, however, it was not sure to accept the 5-acres land to build a mosque in Ayodhya elsewhere.

Ending the longstanding dispute, the Supreme Court of India passed a historic judgment granting the then contentious piece of 2.77 acres land to Hindus for building a Ram Temple while offering a 5-acre land to Muslim plaintiffs to build a mosque at an alternative site. Shia Waqf Board had said that the land should be given to them if the Sunni Waqf Board rejects the offer.

However, months after being in the limbo of indecision, the Sunni Waqf Board has graciously accepted the 5-acre-land offered by the court. Stating that the rejection of 5-acre-land as “out of option”, the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board on Monday said it will build a mosque as well as an Indo-Islamic research centre, a hospital and a library on the five-acre plot allotted to it.

One of the members of the Sunni Waqf Board, Farooqui said that the Board did not have the choice of rejecting the plot of 5-acres-land allotted to it as it would amount to contempt of court.

Following the SC verdict, the central government had asked the UP government to allot five acres of land to the Sunni Waqf Board. The allotment was made after UP cabinet’s meeting on February 5. As per the allotment letter, the Board has been allocated with a plot at Dhannipur village in Ayodhya’s Sohawal area, on the Ayodhya-Lucknow highway about 20 km from the district headquarters.

As Muslim rioters go on rampage, open fire at police in Delhi’s Jaffrabad area, liberals insinuate ‘Bhagwa terror’: Here’s how it’s misleading

The police resorted to shelling tear gas to disperse the crowd. While 15 people had been reportedly injured, including two cameramen and six police officers, a head constable Ratan Lal has been killed in the ensuing. A petrol pump has been set on fire at Bhajanpura in East Delhi and many vehicles have been burnt. The situation in Delhi remains tense

A video of the same was shared by journalist Saurabh Trivedi.

While the Islamist rioters are seen going on a rampage injuring several cops and civilians there is this assortment of liberals on Twitter who have been insinuating ‘Bhagwa terror’ behind the ruckus. Basically, members of the liberal gang on Twitter are trying their best to safeguard the Muslims by shifting the blame on Hindu’s. A phenomenon which is very typical with these left-liberals.

‘Liberals’ were quick to concoct that the mob were running with ‘Bhagwa’ flags in their hand. They claim that at least three flags were visible in the video.

Jamia coordination committee also took to Twitter to slyly link this gross act of terror perpetrated by Muslim mob to “Bhagwa terror”.

However, some alert Twitter users quickly pointed out that those were actually not ‘Bhagwa flags’ but orange coloured crates, seen in the hands of these Islamist rioters.

A closer look at the images shared on Twitter shows that these rioters are carrying orange crates in their hands and not orange flags as ridiculously claimed by these liberals.

In fact, journalist Saurabh Trivedi also took to Twitter to confirm that he was there for the last five hours and everything happened in front of him.

It has been reported that Delhi police constable Ratan Lal has lost his life in the riots that have ensued in Delhi in wake of the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Another DCP has been injured during clashes between two groups in Delhi’s Gokulpuri.

Though there are pictures which show these Islamists protestors initiating the brutality and the Delhi police simply retaliating to control the frenzied mob, it’s paradoxical how Jamia students have reportedly decided to assemble at New Police headquarters at 6:30 pm to protest against “Police brutality and mob violence”.

Violence has erupted across the national capital again as anti-CAA protesters escalated their efforts to spread anarchy in Delhi.

The violence comes two days after a group of over 500 Muslim women gathered near the Jafrabad Metro Station and blocked road No. 66, which connects Seelampur to Maujpur and Yamuna Vihar. They were protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). The protestors warned that the road would be blocked until CAA is revoked. The police tried to negotiate with the demonstrators to clear the road, but it was in vain. It resulted in traffic woes and massive security deployment in the area.

The Shaheen Bagh model of blocking roads and causing public inconvenience, in an attempt to force the Government to revoke CAA, was replicated at Jafrabad Metro Station. Fuelled by Islamic supremacy, the protestors at Shaheen Bagh had been on a sit-in protest for the past 2.5 months, thereby leading to job losses and traffic woes. And now, it appears, the streets of Delhi have descended into chaos.

As Donald Trump praises Modi and slams Pakistan and China, Communists, Congress leaders and Islamists trend #GoBackTrump

Donald Trump arrived in India today for his first official visit since he was elected the President of the United States of America. After he was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport, he visited the Sabarmati Ashram before proceeding to address the ‘Namaste Trump’ event at the Motera Stadium. While President Trump was busy with his schedule, liberals and Congress politicians were busy on Twitter trending ‘Go Back Trump’ (#GoBackTrump). Despite the high number of tweets under the trend, Donald Trump will go back only after completing his 36-hour official visit to India.

One politician at the forefront of the trend was Salman Nizami from the Congress party. After suggesting that Donald Trump should visit the railway station where Narendra Modi used to sell tea, he called both leaders liars in a tweet under that trend.

Hansraj Meena, a political activist, spread fake news regarding Donald Trump’s visit and claimed that the US President was on a “family trip to India using government resources”. He called it “shameful”. It is a blatant lie and an example of the kind of fake news that pervades social media. The tweet had almost 250 retweets as of writing this report.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist), which has always been anti-America due to the latter’s anti-Communist stance, also joined the trend enthusiastically. It is quite shocking to see an Indian political party insulting a foreign leader who is on an official visit to India to strengthen ties between the two countries.

Comparing Donald Trump’s note in the Sabarmati Ashram’s visitor’s book where he called Prime Minister Modi a “great friend” with the note left by former US President Barack Obama, ‘ComradeMallu’ used the opportunity to say #GoBackTrump.

Aysha Renna, the Jamia student who had called India fascist for executing the Mumbai terrorist Yakub Memon, trended the hashtag with information that does not appear to be related to Donald Trump in any manner whatsoever.

Another political activist accused Twitter of a “complete breach of trust” and “censoring public opinion” because according to him, the Trump trend had fallen to 15th position from number 5 in a matter of 1 second. Amusingly enough, the attached screenshots don’t tell the story he wants them to.

There were others who combined Donald Trump’s visit with the NRC and said boycott and go back.

While communists, Congress politicians, activists and Islamists were busy trending ‘Go Back Trump’ on Twitter, Donald Trump addressed a massive crowd at the newly constructed Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. Donald Trump heaped praise on India and took unsubtle jibes at China. He said that the USA was working with Pakistan to dismantle the terror networks within the latter’s borders. The US President also professed his commitment towards a strong relationship with India and said that the USA and India were united in fighting Radical Islamic Terrorism.

Career diplomat and Kapil Sibal’s brother says President Trump’s visit is a ‘humiliation’ for Modi haters: Here are the details

In an op-ed in Israel’s The Haaretz, Kanwal Sibal, a former Foreign Secretary of India and the brother of Congress leader Kapil Sibal, said that the visit of American president Donald Trump to India is a matter of ‘humiliation’ for the Modi haters. Sibal served as a member of India’s National Security Advisory board between 2008 and 2010. He was India’s ambassador to various countries such as France, Russia, and Turkey.

He cautioned the opinion makers in Israel to be watchful of the propaganda peddled against the BJP-led Union Government by ultra left-leaning students, the opposition and the ‘Westernised intellectual’ class in India that has been “orphaned” ever since Prime Minister Modi came to power.

“They are agitating about violence against minorities, the poor and the traditionally oppressed classes – the “Dalits”- with no relation to the realities on the ground.”

The career diplomat said that the vehement opposition to the current political dispensation stemmed from its resounding victory in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls. He accused the Opposition of exploiting opportunities to create unrest and ‘resistance’ on the streets due to their inability to counter the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) politically.

Kanwal Sibal praised PM Narendra Modi for enhancing the stature of India abroad and for successfully forging strong diplomatic relations with China, Russia, Israel, the United States, and the Gulf countries.

Sibal argued that the opposition, desperate to tarnish the image of the BJP in the international circle,  portrayed the party as ‘nationalist’, right-wing, intolerant, anti-Muslim, anti-secular, fascist and genocidal. “As such, the hate-filled propaganda found many takers in the ‘liberal’ West”, he added.

“Israelis, whether in the media or civil society, should be concerned that such loose use of terms actually trivializes the abominable atrocities against the Jews. This kind of thoughtless exaggeration ought not to be reproduced uncritically in the Israeli media.”

He also applauded the humanitarian Citizenship Amendment Act that seeks to fast-track the citizenship process of persecuted religious minorities who had fled to India before 2015 from the neighbouring Islamic Republics of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Sibal argued that the law was adopted following an “open, transparent and fully democratic process” and it does not revoke the citizenship of any Indian Muslim. But, hard-hitting facts have not stopped the opposition from casting aspersions about the law.

The former diplomat explained how contrary to the neighbouring countries, India’s minorities have been ensured protection by the Constitution and granted the authority to run religious institutes. He emphasised that while the Muslim population grew from 9.8% in 1951 to 14.2% in 2011 in India, the population of Hindus and Sikhs declined from 23% to 5% in Pakistan.

Kanwal Sibal unearthed the link between local Islamic elements and Pakistani agencies in encouraging the large influx of Bangladeshi Muslims (roughly 20 million) and creating security issues in India. He also blamed the porous borders drawn on the basis of religious demographics in 1947 and the absence of a citizenship roll for being a contributor to the problem.

While batting for the National Register of Citizens (NRC), Sibal said that illegal Bangladeshi immigrants easily merge in the local Muslim population which makes it difficult to identify them. He also pointed out the nexus between local parties and illegal immigrants who are shielded from eviction in exchange for votes.

Sibal stressed on the dangers of Islamic terror in India’s neighbourhood by quoting the rise of radical Islam in Bangladesh, the resurgence of the Taliban in Afghanistan and the Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.

He argued that a citizenship roll was necessary for maintaining India’s sovereignty, security, social harmony and ensuring that the beneficiaries of the government schemes are genuine citizens.

Sibal urged outside observers to understand the dynamics of India’s internal politics. He accused the Western media of framing issues such as the NRC and the CAA in terms of the rise of nationalism, refugee crisis, migration and targeting of minorities.

In the interest of their own credibility, the foreign media should not neglect its responsibility to ensure objective reporting.

He highlighted that the BJP, that is often labelled as ‘fascist’ has been the strongest supporter of Israel while the leftists who make such baseless accusations have been the most anti-Israel. Sibal said that far from disenfranchising 220 million Indian Muslims and creating a civil war-like situation in the country, PM Narendra Modi is focused on making India a $5 trillion economy.

The leaders of western democracies do see shared values of democracy, pluralism, human freedoms and private enterprise with India as a strong basis of partnership at a time when powerful authoritarian regimes are projecting their political and economic systems as superior to liberal western systems.

Donald Trump, who sat foot in Ahmedabad on February 24 has no issues with the steps taken by the Indian Government, keeping its internal affairs in mind. Kanwal Sibal, however, observed that the US State Department has made “some prescriptive pronouncements” on them. In his final comments, he argued that the challenges faced by India in terms of its border security (due to past illegal immigration) are different from that faced by Israel and the United States and must thus be interpreted as such.
