Invest in Pakistan if you have concerns about India’s economy: Rakesh Jhunjhunwala slams Ex-head of London Chamber of Commerce

Ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala on Friday slammed a British investor asking him to invest in Pakistan if he had doubts about India’s economic growth. Speaking at the World Hindu Economic Forum 2019, the veteran investor asked his fellow panellist, former head of the London Chamber of Commerce Subhash Thakrar to stay away from the Indian markets if he had suspicions about India’s economy.

Being bullish about India’s financial growth, Jhunjhunwala asserted that the ability of India to achieve if ease of business is improved is phenomenal. He also advocated the implementation of second-generation reforms if India wants to achieve 9 per cent growth. “If India achieves 9 per cent growth and I am not saying this as a patriot but as an investor that the corporate profitability will grow by 15 to 18 per cent,” Jhunjhunwala said.

An upbeat Jhunjhunwala continued saying that India’s nominal GDP growth will be 12-13 per cent and earnings will rise. Talking about the household savings in India which are pegged at 30 per cent, Jhunjhunwala opined that the Indian stock market which attracts $20 trillion one day will draw around $200 trillion. “What is bloody $20 trillion coming to the stock markets, it has to go to $200 trillion,” he exclaimed.

However, Jhunjhunwala’s optimistic sentiments about the Indian economy was countered by Ex-head of London Chamber of Commerce, Subhash Thakrar. Thakrar, who was sceptical about the growth, highlighted the issue of unemployment. Jhunjhunwala replied, “We don’t want foreigners’ money. We have enough money to invest in our markets. If they want to come and invest, it’s fine but if you don’t want to invest in India, don’t come. If you want, go and invest in Pakistan.”

Earlier too, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala had put his weight behind the Indian economy which according to him is already on the mend after a brief slowdown. In an interview with NDTV’s Sreenivasan Jain, Jhunjhunwala rejected all the talks around the looming slowdown, affirming that the worst of the economic crisis is behind us and the revival is underway.

Bajrang Dal says Aadhaar should be mandatory at entry points of Garba and Dandiya events to keep a check on ‘non-Hindus’

0

The Bajrang Dal has urged all ‘Garba’ and ‘Dandiya’ organisers to make Aadhaar cards mandatory at the entry points to identify people of non-Hindu communities visiting the events. The Media Convener of the Bajrang Dal, S Kailash said, “We have asked the event organisers to mandate Aadhaar Cards at the entry points to distinguish non-Hindus entering the venues and also to avoid employing Non-Hindus as bouncers for these events.”

Kailash said that it has been observed for some time now that people belonging to different communities enter the venues and show no regard for the divinity of the event. Instead, they indulge in misbehaviour with women and girls participating in the event and often rough up men who come to their rescue.

Kailash believes one of the main reasons why the youths of non-Hindu communities manage to trespass the Garba events is because of the non-Hindu bouncers at the facilities who allow these miscreants to enter the venues. Another area of concern, according to Kailash, is the lack of monitoring and control on who enters the events.

The media convener of the Bajrang Dal said that to avoid such incidents, members of Bajrang Dal will be present at the Garba and Dandiya venues. “If any case of non-Hindus creating ruckus at the Garba events is reported, immediate action would be taken by Bajrang Dal to stop the miscreants from entering the venues which might lead to the disruption of the whole event,” Kailash said.

Will Imran go to UN again and complain about Islamophobia after these memes about his wife having pet jinns?

Earlier today, we had reported how reports have emerged that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Manekha, doesn’t have any reflection in mirror. She also reportedly has two jinns whom she feeds cooked meat. Soon enough the news spread like wild fire and Twitterati were out and about making hilarious memes on the First Lady of Pakistan.

People even tagged Pakistani Army spokesperson Asif Ghafoor to ask him to verify if the news about Bushra Bibi’s images not appearing in mirror are true.

Of course, Pakistanis were not too pleased. Just as how they deny existence of terror camps on their land, they called this ‘fake news’.

These jokes on Bushra Bibi’s reflection not appearing in mirrors and having pet jinns she keeps at her disposal, makes one wonder whether the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is on his way back to Pakistan after giving his maiden speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will go whining to the UN again crying about Islamophobia.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who went over his stipulated time of 15-20 minutes at the UNGA and spoke for almost 40 minutes, went on a rant in front of the world leaders saying how there is no such thing as ‘radical Islam’. He had accused the world at large for getting Islamophobic and using the hijab as a ‘weapon’ against Muslims in some countries.

Bushra Bibi is the third wife of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. She was recently photographed with Khan on an Umrah, dressed from head to toe in a veil. Khan’s first wife was socialite Jemima Goldsmith and second was former BBC presenter Reham Khan. Prior to marrying to Khan, Bushra was married to Pakistan customs officer Khawar Farid Maneka, who agreed to divorce Bushra praising Khan as ‘disciple of our spiritual family’.

41-year-old Bushra Riaz Wattoo belongs to the Wattoo clan and belongs to Pakpattan, a pilgrimage destination 250-kms from Lahore. The place is known for the shrine of Baba Farid, of whom Khan and she are spiritual followers. She is also known as ‘Pinky Peerni’ (holy woman).

Update: Pakistan’s Capital TV has clarified that they had not reported any such news of Bushra Bibi’s reflection not appearing in mirror. Capital TV claims the image of their screen is Photoshopped and that it has been making rounds since 2018.

Malaysian PM claims Kashmir has been ‘invaded and occupied’, slams India, Israel, USA, Myanmar and bats for Rohingyas

Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohammad, in his speech at the UNGA, has stated that Jammu and Kashmir has been invaded and occupied. He has added that India should work with Pakistan to ‘resolve the problem by peaceful means’. His statement has also hinted that India is ignoring the UN and the ‘rule of law’.

He added that there may be reasons for India’s actions but it is still wrong.

Mahathir Mohammad, at an event at the Columbia University earlier, had slammed Israel and had defended his antisemitic statements and Holocaust denial. He had stated that though Malaysia accepts the state of Israel as a ‘fait accompli’ but it cannot accept the ‘blatant seizure’ of Palestine land by Israel for their settlements as well as the occupation of Jerusalem by Israel. Mohammad added that the Palestinians cannot even enter the settlements built on their land.

Mahathir Mohammad also condemned Myanmar for the alleged atrocities on the Rohingya Muslims. He accused Myanmar of carrying out genocide in the Rakhine province. He accused that many nations in the world are supporting ‘unfriendly countries’ despite UN resolutions and rule of law.

Earlier this month, when PM Modi and Mahathir Mohammad had met in Vladivostok, Russia during the EEF event organised by Russia, Mahathir’s foreign minister had informed Malaysian media that most of their discussion had centred around the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. He had also stated that Mahathir Mohammad had even insisted on bringing third parties in if India and Pakistan are unable to arrive at a peaceful resolution.

Mahathir Mohammad also slammed the US for imposing unilateral sanctions on Iran and stated that it has impacted Malaysia’s business with Iran. He also slammed Trump for pulling out of the 11-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership.

However, the Malaysian PM admitted that he and his country cannot take a confrontational stand with China, whether it is over China’s aggression in the South China sea, or its treatment of the Uighur Muslims. He stated that Malaysia is too small to take on China and in the past, they used to send gold and silver to China to pledge their subservience. He acknowledged that Malaysia cannot exist in conflict with China if it wants to survive.

Pakistan’s Capital TV clarifies it never reported that Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi’s images don’t appear in mirror

As per reports, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi’s images do not appear in mirrors. News agency ANI reports that Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s house staff has claimed that her images do not show up in mirrors. ANI quotes Pakistan’s Capital TV of having made such claims.

Other reports suggest that she has two ‘jinns’ at her disposal, whom she feeds cooked meat. Jinns (or Djinns) are spirits or demons (depending upon the source) with supernatural powers.

Vanity Fair report suggests that once Bushra Bibi had a prophetic vision that feeding the cooked meat to jinns was not enough for Imran Khan to become Prime Minister and for that he must marry the ‘right woman’, i.e. member of her own family. Six months before assuming office, Khan married Bushra Bibi in a private ceremony.

Deadline for linking of PAN with Aadhaar extended till end of the year 2019

The finance ministry on Saturday extended the deadline to link Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar till 31st December. Earlier, the deadline for linking of PAN with Aadhaar was stipulated as 30th September.

Linking of PAN with Aadhaar was made mandatory by section 139AA of the Income Tax Act, which was inserted by the Finance Act of 2017. The section says that “every person who is eligible to obtain Aadhaar number shall, on or after the 1st day of July, 2017, quote Aadhaar number”, in the application for PAN, and in income tax returns.

This means if a person has been allotted PAN as on 1st July 2017, they must link their Aadhaar with their PAN. Failure to do this will lead to cancellation of the PAN. The deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar has been extended several times earlier. On 31st March this year, the deadline had been fixed as 30th September.

Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a 10-character alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax department to tax assesses, which includes individuals, companies and other entities that pay tax. On the other hand, Aadhaar is a 12 digit ID issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to resident individuals of India. Government of India has mandated the linkage of both numbers to eliminate fake or multiple PANs held by individuals to evade tax, and decision which has been upheld by the Supreme Court of India.

The linking of PAN with Aadhaar can be done in various ways. Those who have registered at the e-filing portal of the income tax department can link their Aadhaar with their PAN on the portal. The linking can also be done by sending a SMS to either 567678 or 56161 phone number. Alternatively, it can also be done manually by filling up a form in a prescribed form and submitting at a PAN service centre. To link both the IDs, the spelling of the name and the date of birth must match exactly. Residents of Assam, Meghalaya and Jammu & Kashmir have been exempted from this mandatory linkage, as Aadhaar has not been issued to all residents of those states due to various reasons. Persons above 80 years of age are also exempted.

On Friday, daughter of late Sushma Swaraj, Basuri fulfilled her mother’s last wish by presenting senior lawyer Harish Salve with a coin of Re 1, as his fee to represent India at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case.

The former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, hours before her demise on 6th August, had asked senior lawyer Harish Salve “to come and collect his fee of Re 1” for fighting Kulbhushan Jadhav’s case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The heartening picture of advocate Harish Salve receiving the Re 1 coin from Basuri was shared by Sushma Swaraj’s widower former Governor Swaraj Kaushal On Friday evening on Twitter.

In a tweet, Swaraj Kaushal tagged late Sushma Swaraj’s Twitter handle and informed her that their daughter has fulfilled her last wish. He tweeted, “Your daughter Bansuri has fulfilled your last wish today. She has presented Rs. 1 fee to Harish Salve in Kulbhushan Jadhav’s case, which you had left.”

The former External Affairs Minister was battling from illness for a long time. She passed away at the age of 67 in New Delhi on August 6 after she suffered from a lethal cardiac arrest. She had a kidney transplant in 2016 but had managed to work through her recovery period. In the run up to the 2019 General Elections, she had already declared that she would not be fighting the elections or undertaking any position in the cabinet should the government comes back in power.

Senior advocate Harish Salve had played an instrumental role in getting the ICJ to admit India’s arguments and directing Pakistan to review his conviction of Kulbhushan Jadhav and, until then, put his death sentence on hold. The court also asked Islamabad to allow New Delhi consular access at the earliest.

Narada Sting Operation case: TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar accepts receiving money from Narada news portal head, calls it donation

The Trinamool Congress MP from Barasat in West Bengal, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, who is amongst the ten leaders and ministers of the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress who are being probed in the Narada Sting Operation Case by the CBI, has accepted taking money from Samuel Mathew, the editor of Narada News.

As reported by Aaj Tak, Ghosh Dastidar, however, denied receiving this money as a kickback, instead said that she accepted the money as a party donation and also had a receipt for the same. “All parties take donations to contest elections. I also took money to contest the election as a donation and informed the Election Commission also”, said the TMC MP.

In the sting operation conducted in 2014, Narada News portal head Mathew Samuels, posing as a businessman, was seen approaching the Trinamool Congress ministers and leaders to get favours, and in return, offered cash to them. In a video footage released just before the state assembly polls in 2016, the TMC MP from Barasat Lok Sabha constituency was seen accepting cash from Samuels.

The CBI had subsequently booked 12 top TMC leaders, including MPs and West Bengal ministers, and an IPS officer. An FIR was lodged for alleged criminal conspiracy under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act dealing with bribery and criminal misconduct.

The anti-corruption wing of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who is probing the case, carried out voice sample tests of Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar on September 12 in connection with the Narada sting operation.

The investigating agency is collecting the voice samples of the Trinamool leaders to determine the veracity of the conversations which Samuel had with them.

Over the past two weeks, several TMC ministers and leaders, including Subrata Mukherjee, Sougata Roy and Madan Mitra, have been subjected to voice sample tests in connection with the purported sting operation.

Last month, the probe agency approached Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, seeking sanction to prosecute Ghosh Dastidar, and two other MPs – Saugata Roy and Prasun Banerjee – and state minister and former parliamentarian of the party, Suvendu Adhikari, in the case, officials said. If the sanction is accorded, the four leaders might be named in the charge sheet.

On September 26, the CBI made its first arrest in the case. IPS officer SMH Mirza became the first person to be arrested in the Narada Sting Operation Case. Mirza was the Superintendent of Police of Burdwan district in West Bengal when the sting operation was conducted. He is allegedly seen on camera accepting bribes on behalf of politicians belonging to the Trinamool Congress.
