Imran Khan picks up the narrative of Indian opposition parties, communalises Kashmir issue and equates RSS with Nazis

After the Congress party stirred the religious pot on Kashmir, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, too, has given the issue a religious spin. He had made similar comments in an earlier speech as well. Imran Khan claimed that Muslims had now started believing in the two-nation theory.

“Muslims are living in fear today in India. When I used to play cricket in India; Muslims from affluent households used to say the two-nation theory wasn’t right. Today, those same people say Quaid-e-Azam (Mohammad Ali Jinnah) was absolutely right,” said Imran Khan, while addressing the Assembly of Pakitan occupied & Kashmir.

Furthermore, Khan has cited politicians from Opposition parties in India to peddle his agenda. He said, “Pro-Indian Kashmiri politicians today are endorsing two-nation theory. This Pandora’s box of the RSS ideology will not stop at Muslims; it will spill over into the Sikh community, and the Christian community. It is an epidemic. We have information; the Pakistani Army is aware they have a plan to carry out operations in AJK (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir)”.

The Pakistani establishment has been employing the narrative created by a section of Indians to further their own agenda. Some of the things he said appears to be straight out of the liberal playbook.

He stated, “We are against Modi’s ideology. We have to fight with RSS ideology, even Modi is from the RSS. They hate Muslims. This ideology killed Mahatma Gandhi. We saw what happened in Godhra with Muslims in 2002, we saw what happened with Babri Masjid. We are able to see what has happened with Muslims in the name of a cow in India.”

The Pakistan PM also posted link to an article on Twitter which compares RSS with Nazis. Speaking a language that sounds like coming from Congress party or the left-librals, he said the RSS ideology threatens not just Kashmiris or Pakistan or even just Indian Muslims, Christians & Dalits, but it threatens India itself as envisaged by its Founding Fathers.

The Congress party and other opposition parties have been making extremely problematic remarks about the abrogation of Article 370. Chidambaram had said that the government had abolished the provision as Kashmir was Muslim majority. Equating the RSS with Nazis, too, has been a consistent claim made by opposition parties.

It only reveals that when it comes to creating an anti-India narrative, Indian political players do such a good job at it that even India’s enemies rely on them for material to peddle against India. It is a matter of deep concern that the narrative being peddled by the Pakistani Prime Minister is virtually indistinguishable from the one peddled by India’s secular parties and the liber fraternity.

Preparations for the world-renowned Mysuru Dasara festival in Karnataka have taken off. This year, the festival will be celebrated with the usual pomp and grandeur between September 29 to October 8. Chief Minister has zeroed down on award-winning novelist and litterateur par excellence, S L Bhyrappa to inaugurate the festival ceremonies this year.

Dasara festivities that have a rich history of more than 400 years, is celebrated for over 10-days and falls in the month of September or October. Mysuru Dasara is the ‘Nadahabba’ or the state-festival of the state of Karnataka called as ‘Navaratri’ means nine nights.

During the festival, which began in the 14th century, the Mysore Palace will be illuminated with around 100,000 bulbs. Various celebrations including a food mela will be organised in the Scouts and Guides ground. Various cultural programs are lined up at the Mysore Palace, Jaganmohan Palace, Kalamandir, Kuppanna Park, Ganabharati, and Nadabrahma with artists coming from all over India to participate in the 10-day event.

Dr Bhyrappa, is a celebrated author in South India and is a recipient of Saraswati Samman Puraskar. He writes in Kannada and his novels are widely translated into various Indian languages. He is the bestselling novelist in Marathi over the past decade and is among the top-five bestselling authors in Hindi.

His books have found their way to the curriculum of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses of the universities in the state of Karnataka, and have been the subject of about 20 Ph.D. dissertations. Bhyrappa has served as a professor of philosophy over three decades at NCERT. In March 2015, he was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Fellowship and was presented with Padma Shri in 2016 by the government of India.

This year, the festival will be organized at a cost of Rs 20.5 crore, the CM informed reporters after chairing a high-level committee meeting today. “The amount will be released immediately,” he confirmed.

When asked if the Mysuru Dasara will be scaled down due to the current flood situation, Yediyurappa asserted, “The festival will happen just the way it has been held in the past.”

While time is running short, the authorities of the forest department led by the deputy conservator of forests for Mysuru wildlife division Alexander, along with veterinarian Dr DN Nagaraju completed the task of examining the health of the elephants at Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, who are believed to be the show-stoppers of this grand event organised each year, at the beginning of this month.

Recently, the 39-year-old, legendary elephant ‘Drona’ which carried ‘golden howdah’ at Dasara procession in Mysuru for a record 18 consecutive years died at Thithimathi Elephant Camp in Nagarahole National Park. The tusker had collapsed while having water and said to have died due to a heart attack. This year around 15 elephants has been shortlisted to participate in the festival.

Fake news on Kashmir continues, now Hurriyat leader’s professor wife passed off as Maharaja Hari Singh’s granddaughter

After Indian government took the historic decision to fully integrate Jammu and Kashmir into India by abrogating Articles 370 and 35A, Pakistan has been engaging in a misinformation campaign to claim that there are widespread protests against the decision. Several influential persons and ordinary social media users from Pakistan had shared several old videos and fake news claiming they show atrocities of Indian security forces against Kashmiri protesters.

As part of that misinformation campaign, several social media users posted a video clip on Twitter today claiming that is shows granddaughter Maharaj Hari Singh speaking against the Indian government.

In the video, a woman can be addressing a meeting where she argues that Maharaja Hari Singh agreed to join independent India as a sovereign state. Maharaja Hari Singh was the ruler of Jammu and Kashmir at the time of independence, and he had signed the Instrument of Accession with India.

But contrary to claims made by several Pakistanis, the woman in the video is not the granddaughter of Hari Singh. The woman presenting the separatist lecture in the video is actually Prof. Hameeda Nayeem, a professor at Kashmir University. Hammeda is the wife of Hurriyat leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan.

The video clip used is from a speech Hameeda Nayeem gave in Aligarh Muslim University last year. In the full video of the speech embedded below, the relevant portion can be seen from 23rd minute onward.

Soon after the video was shared on social media platforms claiming to be granddaughter of Maharaja Hari Singh, it caught the attention of Vikramaditya Singh, the grandson of Hari Singh. He tweeted that his sister and the real granddaughter of Maharaja Hari Singh is Dr. Jyotsna Singh, not the woman seen in the video. He also asked people to ignore the fake/malicious video.

Jyotsna Singh is also known as Jyoti Singh, and a 2016 interview with her available on Youtube shows that she looks very different from Hameeda Nayeem. This means its not a case of mistaken identity, but deliberate use of old video of different person to spread a malicious campaign to suggest the Maharaja Hari Singh’s family is opposing the abrogation of Article 370. But the fact is, Dr. Karan Singh, son Maharaja Hari Singh, has already welcomed the move by Modi government.

Pehlu Khan case: All 6 accused acquitted by a Rajasthan court

In the high-profile case of the lynching of the alleged cow-smuggler Pehlu Khan, a Rajasthan court has absolved all the six accused. Presently, a total of 9 are accused in the case, 6 accused who have been acquitted by the Alwar court and remaining 3 were minors at the time of the crime, are being tried separately at a juvenile court.

On the basis of the video evidence in possession of the police, six men — Vipin Yadav, Ravindra Kumar, Kaluram, Dayaram, Yogesh Kumar alias Dholia, and Bhim Rathi — were arrested under sections 147, 323, 341, 302, 308, 379 and 427 of the IPC. The prosecution had presented a total of 44 witnesses in the case which concluded on August 7, 2019.

Earlier, the case was tried in Behror but was later transferred to Alwar after witnesses in the case-Azmat, Rafiq and Pehlu Khan’s two sons-Irshad and Arif alleged last year that they were fired upon while going for a hearing. However, on investigation police found no proof of firing on Pehlu Khan’s two sons and witnesses. Police believed that the story of bullets being shot at must have been cooked up to get the case transferred to Alwar or Tijara.

A native of Haryana’s Nuh, the 55-year old Pehlu Khan and his sons were allegedly accosted by a bunch of people on the suspicion that they smuggled cattle to neighbouring states for slaughter. The mob lynched Pehlu Khan with rods and sticks on April 1, 2017, two days after which Khan died of the injuries.

Congress leader Hardik Patel, 2 MLAs and others detained for trying to meet disgraced ex-cop Sanjiv Bhatt in jail

Congress leader Hardik Patel, 2 Congress MLAs and 27 of their supporters were detained on Wednesday while they were on their way to meet sacked IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt. Sanjiv Bhatt is currently lodged in the Palanpur district jail and has been awarded life imprisonment sentence by the court in a custodial death case.

As soon as Hardik Patel other Congress MLAs and supporters entered Palanpur to meet Bhat, the police arrested them. “Law and order situation in the jail in Palanpur may deteriorate. Hence, we detained around 30 people, including Hardik Patel, Congress MLAs from Palanpur and Patan and their supporters, when they entered Palanpur to go to the sub-jail to meet Bhatt,” Banaskantha’s Superintendent of Police Niraj Badgujar said.

On Tuesday, Shweta Bhatt, the wife of the disgraced cop had announced that she will accompany her husband’s supporters, most of whom are women and wanted to tie ‘rakhi’ to him, to Palanpur jail. Hardik had then announced that he would also accompany Shweta Bhatt to the jail. The two MLAs who have been detained are Mahesh Patel of Palanpur and Kirit Patel of Patan. While the police have allowed Shweta Bhatt to meet her husband, on the grounds of her being a family member, everyone else accompanying her to the jail were detained.

On June 20, Sanjiv Bhatt was sentenced to life imprisonment under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. He was sentenced for the 1989 custodial death case. Prabhudas Vaishnani had died in Gujarat’s Jamnagar while he was in the custody of the police. Bhatt was serving in the district as additional superintendent of police at that time. Besides this Bhatt had also detained more than a hundred persons during a communal riot in Gujarat.

Bhatt had been arrested in September last year by the Gujarat CID over a 1998 case of planting drugs. He was then accused of trying framing a lawyer in a fake narcotics case

5 IAF pilots who carried out Balakot airstrikes awarded with ‘Vayu Sena Medal’

0

The Indian Air Force pilots who bombed and destroyed the Balakot terror training camp of Jaish-e-Muhammad in Pakistan have been conferred with Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry). All 5 Indian Air Force officers are Mirage-2000 pilots.

The five Indian Air Force pilots, Wing Commander Amit Ranjan, Squadron Leaders Ldrs Rahul Bosya, Pankaj Bhujade, BKN Reddy and Shashank Singh were awarded Vayu Sena Medal for blowing the JeM terror camp situated in Balakot into smithereens.

In a dastardly attack by a Jaish-e-Muhammad trained terrorist, around 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives when the attacker rammed a car laden with explosives in the CRPF convoy in Kashmir on February 14, 2019. In response to the attack, the Indian Air Force carried out an attack on the JeM terror camp situated in Balakot district of Pakistan on February 26. The IAF planes crossed the Line-of-Control, going deep inside Pakistan and destroyed the terror camp with precision-guided missiles. Around 160-300 terrorists are believed to have been killed in the retaliation.

The daring audacity by the Indian Air Force stoked tensions along the border and brought the two fraught neighbours almost on a brink of war after Pakistan scrambled fighter jets in an attempt to target Indian Army installations in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack was foiled successfully but one of the Indian MiG 21 fighter jet was shot down by Pakistan and its pilot was caught by Pakistan. Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was later released by Pakistan. Varthaman also downed a Pakistani F-16 in the dogfight soon after Pakistani jets were found approaching the border.

According to the sources, Wg Cdr Abhinandan Varthaman, who became the face of the entire India-Pakistan confrontation following the Balakot airstrike, may be decorated with Vir Chakra on the Independence Day.

The Silence of the Plebs: The exploitation of women in the porn industry

Mia Khalifa recently revealed on Twitter that during her brief spell in the porn industry, she earned merely $12000 despite being one of the most famous porn stars. It caused other problems for her as well since it made it difficult for her to get employed even after she had quit that job.

Mia clarified that she was not promised a lot of money, nor did she expect it. She was just clearing some misconceptions she believed people have about her.

Even years after quitting the industry, and despite the fact that she worked in it for only 3 months, Mia continues to remain one of the most searched porn stars on the internet. Thus, it begs the question, if someone of her fame earned so little, how must others be faring in the industry?

As it turns out, not very well. Despite the fact that the porn industry is estimated to make a profit of more than $13 billion per year, the women in the industry do not receive a fair share for their work. There are certain ‘ring-leaders’ in the industry, a fancy name for a pimp, whose primary job is to lure women into porn, who make the most money out of it.

There also appears to be a common theme in the market. In most cases, women were lured into the business when they were in a financial crisis and were looking to make quick bucks. As one journalist noted, “When it comes to women joining the sex industry, most are approached by predators who aim for women who are young, naive, and in financial straits.”

Unfortunately enough, while they are paid a significant amount of money for a shoot, the expenses are so large that they never have enough when they get out of the industry. “Being a porn star was very expensive,” porn star Tressa says in the documentary Hot Girls Wanted. “Rent, nails, makeup, food, flights, and then 10 percent for Riley. I only made $25,000 in four months. And after I got out I had $2,000 in my bank account,” she said.

There’s a more disturbing story underneath the veil. Sexual abuse and rapes are rampant in the industry. On many occasions, contracts are violated. Women are promised one thing in the contract and when the camera turns on, the script is thrown out of the window.

Porn star Corina Taylor recalled, ”When I arrived to the set I expected to do a vaginal girl boy scene. But during the scene with a male porn star, he forced himself anally into me and would not stop. I yelled at him to stop and screamed ‘No’ over and over but he would not stop. The pain became too much and I was in shock and my body went limp.”

The women involved often felt that it was too late for them to refuse. They felt compelled to go ahead with the scene after considering that should they refuse, they will never be given another opportunity to work in the industry and they will lose the opportunity to earn some quick bucks.

“It was a really, really, really rough scene,” said porn star Miriam Weeks about her first tryst with porn adding that she wasn’t prepared for how rough it would be. “I was scared,” said adult film star Rachel while describing her ordeal to a roommate after a ‘rough’ scene. “I didn’t know that I could tell him no, or the fact that we had already recorded fifteen minutes that I could f***ing leave . . . then what? Then I understand that that’s how rape victims feel.”

“It was torture for seven years,” stated one former adult performer Brittni Ruiz. “I was miserable, I was lonely, I eventually turned to drugs and alcohol and attempted suicide.” “People in the porn industry are numb to real life and are like zombies walking around,” said Jessica Jewel. “Everybody is on drugs,” she continued. “I became horribly addicted to heroin and crack. I overdosed at least three times, had tricks pull knives on me, have been beaten half to death…”

“There were times on set with people where I was like, ‘This is not a good situation. This is not safe. This girl is out of her mind and we’re not sure what she’s going to say when she leaves here,’” said Lisa Ann in an interview with The Guardian, a woman who had worked in the industry for two decades. “Everyone’s a ticking time bomb, and a lot of it is linked to the drugs. A lot of this new pain comes from these new girls who have to do these abusive scenes, because that does break you down as a woman.”

Porn star Alexa Milano said while recounting her experience, “My first movie I was treated very rough by 3 guys. They pounded on me, gagged me with their penises, and tossed me around like I was a ball! I was sore, hurting and could barely walk. My insides burned and hurt so badly. I could barely pee and to try to have a bowel movement was out of the question.”

Another woman from the industry said, “I got the shit kicked out of me. I was told before the video — and they said this very proudly, mind you — that in this line most of the girls start crying because they’re hurting so bad. I couldn’t breathe. I was being hit and choked. I was really upset, and they didn’t stop. They kept filming. You can hear me say, ‘Turn the fu***ng camera off,’ and they kept going.”

There are numerous other such horrific accounts by porn stars that can be found on the internet. Their experiences do make for horrific reading. For some reason, unbeknownst to me, the plight of these women is hardly ever picked up by any mainstream politician or journalist. Although an argument could be made that they found themselves in that situation due to poor judgment and greed, no one deserves to suffer rape and torture merely due to it. Especially considering the fact that many of these women, if not most, were in desperate circumstances when they were targeted by predators.

Undeniably, the content of porn featured aggression disproportionately targeted against women. One research stated, “Of the 304 scenes analyzed, 88.2% contained physical aggression, principally spanking, gagging, and slapping, while 48.7% of scenes contained verbal aggression, primarily name-calling. Perpetrators of aggression were usually male, whereas targets of aggression were overwhelmingly female. Targets most often showed pleasure or responded neutrally to the aggression.”

Despite the tremendous amount of abuse they suffer, it is quite evident that an overwhelming majority of them do not make money that could possibly justify the torture they had to endure. While many of them enter the scene looking to earn some quick bucks, they leave disillusioned and often, as broken women.

There’s a fringe band of activists in the feminist movement who are campaigning against pornography and the degradation of women that it portrays. It is perhaps one issue where conservatives and feminists will find common ground. Both sides can acknowledge the fact that no woman deserves to suffer such misery merely due to poor judgment and greed. Both sides can also agree that predators should not be allowed to get away with exploiting vulnerable women. Perhaps, both sides can work together on this issue to find a solution to the menace.

IAS-turned politician Shah Faesal detained at Delhi airport, was on his way to Turkey: Report

Former IAS officer Shah Faesal, who had quit his job to launch his own political party in Jammu and Kashmir has been reportedly detained at Delhi airport today. Reports say that Faesal was trying to leave the country. However, an official confirmation of the same is awaited.

BTVI journalist Aditya Kaul has stated that Faesal was reportedly arrested while attempting to flee the country. He has been reportedly sent back to Kashmir and put under house arrest. As per the Republic TV, he was on his way to Turkey

Faesal has been on a downward spiral after the Article 370 was stripped in Kashmir. He has been indulged in active fear-mongering and was threatening violence over the government’s move.

Yesterday, giving another statement to BBC, Faesal was seen stating that another generation of Kashmiris has been ‘betrayed by India’ and it will spiral unrest in the valley, insinuating that the stripping of article 370 will see another bout of terrorism in the valley, just like 1988.

Known for his usually controversial statements, Faesal had stated there will be no Eid celebrations till ‘everything that has been stolen and snatched since 1947 has been returned. He had also added that there will be no Eid till the last bit of insult is ‘avenged and undone’.

Faesal’s party had a political alliance with another Kashmiri politician Rasheed Engineer who was arrested and interrogated recently in a terror funding case. After the Pulwama attacks, Faesal had said that he gets inspiration from Imran Khan and had advocated for a Nobel Peace Prize for the Pakistani PM.

(This is a developing story and we will update it when new information is available)

Sagarika Ghose shares an old report to insinuate that the Army is using brutal measures to suppress rebellion in Kashmir after abrogation of Article 370

As normalcy gradually returns back to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, some eminent personalities who seem to have vested interests in keeping the pot boiling are employing all kinds of artifices and deceit to perpetuate that everything is not hunky-dory. Self-proclaimed ‘liberal’ journalist Sagarika Ghose today tried to pass off a 3-year-old report maligning Indian Armed Forces as a recent one to insinuate that the Indian Armed Forces are employing brutal means to subjugate Kashmiris.

Sharing a 3-year-old dubious report, Sagarika tweeted that how security forces in Kashmir have been using slingshots for civilised crowd control. The timing of the tweet is of great salience as Sagarika proceeded to allude that the situation in the Valley is tense and forces are using brutal oppression to crush the alleged protest erupting in the state.

Sagarika’s tweet on security forces using ‘slingshots’ to control crowd.

The suspicious report shared by Sagarika was published on February 11, 2016 by a certain Allison Jackson. Ghose, while sharing the report on Twitter did not mention that it is an old report and does not mean that the current situation in Kashmir is such. Moreover, the image of security forces using slingshot is from 2009 as mentioned in the description of the image.

Screenshot of the report shared by Ghose. The report was published on 11th February 2016.

Many Twitter users tried to highlight the provenance of the report to Ghose. However, this didn’t deter Ghose from continuing to peddle her agenda. One Twitter user suggested her to have a look at the date and the year but Ghose brazened out her stand claiming such methods are commonly adopted by the Indian Armed Forces in Kashmir reportedly from 2009.

Sagarika Ghose brazening it out

There is perverse obstinance among certain sections of the society who cannot digest the fact that an overwhelming population in Kashmir have welcomed the central government’s decision to abrogate Article 370. The decision to bifurcate the state into two union territories has perhaps made a lot of detractors come unglued. They are wittingly or unwittingly toeing Pakistani line, providing them cannon fodder to lend credibility to their insidious crotchets. They are employing devious means and methods to undermine the government’s efforts to instil normalcy in the strife-torn region by purveying fake and outdated fictional stories of brutalities meted out to the people while belittling those who claim normalcy is prevailing in the Valley.

It is a fact that Sagarika is extremely critical of the current government. She seems to be on a constant look-out to find out ways to disparage the BJP government. Perhaps to this end, she wantonly shared an old piece of trash report to suggest that the government’s move to repeal the partition relic of Article 370 has backfired and that the Armed Forces are allegedly using inhuman methods to control the outburst.

However, this is not the first time that Sagarika Ghose has exhibited her unbridled disdain for the Armed Forces. Recently, Sagarika called the most decorated officer of the Territorial Army an ‘idiot’ because he respectfully disagreed with her assessment of ‘war’. Sagarika Ghose posted a tweet implying that she was a “liberal patriot” who works for “peace” and hence loves her country more than those wanting to send “sons of the poor” to the front lines to “satisfy their own elite bloodlust”. With an astute response, Major Navdeep Singh retorted back saying the Indian Army is not a militia satiating a tinpot leadership’s bloodlust but an ethical military working under a constitutional democracy to protect the people of India.

Press Club of India clamps down on hyper-activists, refuses to allow screening of propaganda reports on Kashmir

In a major embarrassment to anti-India forces within the country, the Press Club of India on Wednesday refused to provide a platform to members of ‘Tukde Tukde gang’ to spread their propaganda videos and images of Kashmir.

According to Times Now, the Press Club of India refused to allow a group of ultra-left wing activists including freelance protestor Kavita Krishnan, Sonia Gandhi’s former aide Jean Dreze and two other members of the anti-India brigade to spread false propaganda about the status of Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370.

The ‘activists’ had claimed to have visited the Kashmir to document the status of the union territory of Kashmir following the scrapping of special status. The ultra-left wing lobby had planned a press conference at Press Club of India to release propaganda videos and images to incite the public.

Kavita Krishnan had posted a tweet informing regarding the press conference at the venue along with Jean Drèze, Maimoona Mollah and Vimal Bhai to release a ‘report’ of their 5-day visit to Kashmir, including some photos and video documentation.

However, the Press Club of India has swiftly strung into action and has now asked them to not to release such reports. Even as the government is trying to bring back normalcy in the Jammu and Kashmir region, these activists are hell bent on portraying a grim picture from the valley, which may lead to instability in the region. The Press Club of India disallowed the videos and pictures since the authenticity of the same cannot be verified on an individual level. While the press conference was allowed to be carried out, screening of videos and images was not allowed.

Amusingly, Congress leader Sushmita Dev referred to it as ‘gagging the press’.

Congress’ support to such propaganda videos come at a time when Pakistan has been using opposition leaders and activists’ statements along with fake and fabricated videos to further their anti-India agenda. Essentially, the hyper activists and other opposition leaders are toeing the Pakistani propaganda line.

As normalcy is prevailing in the Jammu and Kashmir, a certain anti-India establishment within the country seems to be disgruntled and are trying various means to instigate violence against Indians, particularly Hindus in Kashmir.

To add fuel to the fire, some of the sections of Indian political establishment, pseudo-liberal-secular media and intelligentsia are parroting the lines of Pakistan to keep the pot boiling in Kashmir. The Congress party and its ecosystem are hell-bent on inciting the people of Jammu and Kashmir by deliberately toeing the Pakistani line on Jammu and Kashmir.
