Kapil Sibal backed channel interviews rabble-rouser Arundhati Roy who spews anti-Modi, anti-Hindu hate laced with lies and rhetoric

Ultra-left activist and controversial ‘fiction’ writer Arundhati Roy, who believes that Rafale is an aircraft career, was interviewed by the HTN Network, a channel backed by senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal. Arundhati Roy, who often stays away from any press conference or interviews, perhaps fearing an expose on her ‘intellectualism’ was presented an opportunity by the Congress mouthpiece to push her propaganda against the country.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEAQb8qecys]

Arundathi Roy speaking to ‘Journalist’ Karan Thapar expressed her views on a whole range of issues including Prime Minister Modi, BJP, RSS, and the Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

Karan Thapar began his interview with Roy asking her views on the performance of the Modi government, to which Roy said that she was not shocked unlike others as the BJP was almost following a ‘script’. She went on to say it was not Prime Minister Modi who was governing the country but it was Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha (RSS), which has the come to power with its people on the top.

Roy claimed that the alleged lynching, communalism, and sectarianism were not the biggest surprised for her but it is the devastation of the Indian economy which has shocked her. She, however, doesn’t back her ‘economic devastation’ claim by a single fact. She goes on to compare the BJP with the Fascists as she claims that both share the same ideology. She even claims that despite all his fascism, Hitler had ‘developed’ Germany into an economic superpower but Modi has destroyed India’s economy. All of it, notably, without a single fact-based argument.

In a hurry to express her hatred towards the PM Modi and the BJP, Roy seems to have deliberately ignored the fact that India’s economic credentials have grown increasingly in the last five years. The sustained higher growth rates, with no big-ticket corruption, increase in World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business rankings and sustained foreign investments into the country has, in fact, the manifestation of strong macro-economic indicators of the country under the present BJP government. Apart from that, several other developmental schemes initiated by the Modi government like Ujwala Yojana, Start-up schemes, MUDRA and Ayushman Bharat has increased socio-economic capital of the country.

When Thapar argues that PM Modi has given a ‘clean’ government when it comes to corruption, as compared with the UPA government. Roy claims, “Clean is a very dangerous word”.Arundathi Roy brings in her vague ideas of ‘moral cleanliness’, which she fails to define it in her interview.

As she did not have any clear response, Roy went back to her old trick by playing out her ‘2002 riots’ card against PM Modi and claimed that he is playing to some ‘script’. Throughout her interview, Roy managed to repeat that RSS had some ‘script’ which is being followed by PM Modi.

In her interview, Roy mentions some of the conspiracy theories, stating that RSS has begun a ‘deep’ movement to transform India into a ‘Hindu Nation’. Roy claims that RSS has changed its position on whenever it wanted to. In her attempt to objectify RSS, Roy fails to comprehend the fact that in a definitive political system, ideological organisations constantly evolve themselves and renew their movements with time and this ‘evolution’ process in ideological and political movement exists across the world.

Arundathi Roy also does not agree to the fact that the NDA government has given a corruption-free government. Roy claims that Modi government indulged in obfuscation on the issue of Rafale by submitting wrong documents, despite the fact that Modi government submitted a corrective document to declare that earlier documents had some changes. She also refuses to acknowlede the fact that there is no money trail and no proof.

In the entire interview, Arundathi Roy amazes by bringing up her conspiracy theories while associating the RSS for everything that has happened in the country for the last five years. Calling the BJP, a benign mask of the RSS, she further suspects and indulges in fear mongering by claiming that there is something wrong happening on the ground.

Referring to the Sabarimala incident, Roy said that the fascist RSS is working towards majoritarian politics, marginalisation of the minorities while declaring that Muslims in India are being terrorised. By doing so, Arundathi Roy not only indulges in fake propaganda against the present dispensation as she does not specifically presents any facts to prove her conjectures but also indulges in fear mongering and Hinduphobia.

To reinforce her theories, Roy also narrates an incident of a Muslim friend of hers who was so worried about the ‘mobs’ and had asked her whether she should teach her son the ‘Gayathri Mantra’. The lady who is being cited by Roy is definitely not the representative of the Muslims in the country. She further tries to incite by claiming that lynchings have pushed the minorities into fear, which has made the country intolerant and majoritarian.

Roy states that she is deeply unhappy about the state of affairs in the country. She added that she was worried by the depth at which the ‘mobilisation’ is happening in this country. However, she does not explain the nature of the mobilisation she claims to be happening.

Notably, in the interview that was conducted by a Kapil Sibal backed channel, Arundhati also claims that the 2G scam was ‘cleared’ by the Supreme Court.

As Karan Thapar pushes her to respond to her theories, Arundathi Roy somehow connects it to the issue of Sabarimala, where she claims that RSS mobilised the people to oppose the Supreme Court verdict to generalise a narrative that RSS is indeed mobilising common people in the country to push their so-called mobilisation politics. She also believes that RSS has pushed other ‘secular’ parties to take a similar stand to not to lose their voter base in the state of Kerala.

In reality, no political parties in any part of the world do not want to take a stand which has a negative outcome on electoral politics. Roy holding RSS accountable for ‘secular’ political parties indulging in vote bank politics by following ‘majoritarian’ policy on Sabarimala issue is just personal prejudice and display of hatred towards the Hindus and the RSS.

In what seems to the most bizarre accusations by ‘intellectual’ Arundathi Roy against the RSS and BJP, she says that the BJP and RSS are working towards a drumbeat, where it is working meticulously to increase its presence in the states like West Bengal. She targets the RSS, BJP for working towards an objective to increase its foothold in states where it does not have any presence.

Well, Isn’t that the objective of any political party in any democratic system? Every political party in any democratic electoral system will try and get to expand their base. If communists like Arundathi Roy ever believed in the idea of democracy, she would have definitely known about the system of the multi-party electoral system.

With this pretext, Roy believes that RSS and BJP are mobilising people across the country since decades to inflict terror on Muslims and push the idea of Hindu Rashtra. Roy also believes that BJP is not just a political party while discrediting the Indian citizens who had voted for the BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Continuing with her senseless fear-mongering, Roy added that five years of this mobilisation backed by the RSS and BJP will cause further damage to India’s institutions similar to the claims of several other opposition parties. Roy further added that even with the chance of BJP losing the chance of danger is still high as the opposition parties are still much weaker and the so-called ‘mobilisation’ still takes place despite RSS and BJP is out of power.

She maintains that the historical problem of ‘mobilisation’, marginalisation can only be met by an ocean of people who think differently. The ‘secular’ Roy mentions a ‘counter mobilisation’ comprising of Dalits, Muslims, Adivasis, OBCs and other minorities to balance out the RSS base. In fact, she reveals her bigotry and casteism by propagating a new coalition across the caste and religious lines to take on the BJP and the RSS.

Backing Rahul Gandhi for the post of the Prime Minister of the country, Arundhati Roy said that he may have some sort of the incite but he is not a seasoned politician but she would prefer the chaos rather than the BJP.

2017 AAP MLA candidate in Goa quits over non-payment of dues, threatens legal action

AAP MLA candidate from Goa, Rama Kankonkar has taken to Facebook to express his discontent with the AAP party. Rama has alleged that despite promising him to reimburse his election bills, the party has failed in honouring its commitment. Rama has also claimed that AAP Goa and AAP Delhi cannot be trusted with fulfilling their promises.

Rama Kankonkar fought the 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections on St. Andres seat in Goa on AAP ticket. He has levelled explosive allegations against the AAP party lamenting that he has been chasing the party for last 2 years to pay his election bills but they haven’t heeded his requests. Owing to this, Rama has finally tendered his resignation after trailing the party for two years to get his bills paid.

Resignation letter

Alleging gross abuse of trust, Rama tendered his resignation to Goa AAP convener Elvis Golmes asserting that he has been dismayed and disgruntled with the apathy and lack of accountability displayed by the AAP party in settling the St. Andres constituency election bills. In the resignation letter, Rama mentions that despite follow-ups with more than 25 meetings with AAP leaders, action on his requests was not taken. Rama also claims that there has neither been any communication from AAP’s National leadership, nor the Goa AAP convener has responded to Rama’s requests. In addition to this, he has also alleged that the Delhi AAP officials had damaged his personal vehicle in 2017 and the compensation for the same hadn’t been paid yet.

Rama has also attached the details of the follow-ups he has been taking up to get his dues cleared. Rama has claimed that he is not the only candidate to be the victim of party’s apathy and that there are others too who have been totally shunned by the party. Attacking the AAP leadership, Rama contended that since AAP is treacherous to its own members and followers, they can not be trusted with public resources as well. The disgruntled former AAP member also slammed AAP for his agony and causing him personal injury and asked it to practice what it preaches.

The only people politicizing the Army are the signatories to the letter who attempted to influence elections by using their veteran status

A controversial letter has been circulating on social media, allegedly written by Army veterans, where the signatories can be seen complaining about the ‘Politicization of the Armed Forces’. The letter, which ostensibly targets the Modi government for claiming credit for the Balakot strikes, is addressed to the President of India.

The Congress, for its part, did not hesitate to use the letter to attack the NDA government. Various ‘neutral’ journalists and political commentators, including a certain individual who has been gifted with the capability of deciphering the political orientation of individuals from pictures of their phallus, latched on to the letter to propagate an anti-Modi narrative.

However, it appears at least some names were included as signatories to the letter without the knowledge or consent of the concerned individuals. Air Marshall Suri, General SF Rodrigues and Former Army Vice Chief Lt General ML Naidu have gone on record to assert that they signed no such letter.

According to Air Marshall Suri, the latter was written by one Major Chaudhary and it certainly does not have his consent. But it does have the consent of at least some of the signatories as they have gone on record to endorse the letter. Therefore, it is clear that the letter featured names it should not have and the author(s) invariably committed the sin they have accused Narendra Modi of, that is, politicizing the Army.

The circumstances in which the letter has been released calls for a serious investigation into the matter. It was a clear attempt to influence the results of the General Elections of the world’s largest democracy. It was also an attempt to pit the Armed Forces against the ruling political dispensation which could have devastating consequences for our country.

Air Marshall Suri was extremely prudent, as is expected from someone of his stature when he said that the Armed Forces support the elected government. Unlike Pakistan where the Army reigns supreme, in India, the Armed Forces is a part of the state machinery that is subservient to the Will of the People which is reflected by the democratically elected government.

Therefore, the accusation made in the letter that the current government is ‘politicizing the Army’ by claiming credit for the Balakot Airstrikes doesn’t have a sound basis in fact. The Armed Forces could not have carried out the strikes without the express consent of the political establishment. That sentiment has been echoed by Army Veterans who have claimed that they wished to conduct strikes against Pakistan post the Mumbai Terror Attack but were not given the green signal by the UPA government.

If we are to accept the logic presented by the signatories to the letter, the ones who have confirmed their endorsement of it, then it appears that Indians ought to blame the Armed Forces for not conducting military operations against Pakistan in response to terror attacks during the UPA regime. But of course, it would be foolish to do so as the Indian Armed Forces cannot pursue anything unless the political establishment gives them the permission to do so.

Similarly, the Armed Forces of the USA aren’t blamed for the destabilization of the Middle East. George Bush is blamed, so is Obama. It’s because the military operations are ordered by the political dispensation. And the political dispensation will have to live and die by the choices they make.

Really, the only people politicizing the Army are the signatories to the letter who have confirmed their endorsement. It appears to be fairly obvious that the letter was concocted by politically motivated Army Veterans to target Narendra Modi. There is nothing wrong with having a political opinion. It’s a democracy, everyone is entitled to it. However, what is not acceptable is dragging the entirety of the Armed Forces to pursue a political agenda.

The concerned signatories are welcome to express their political opinions and even campaign against the Modi government. However, they should do it in their own personal capacity. There are numerous Army Veterans in the BJP as well. It will be extremely dishonourable for them, too, to claim to speak for the Armed Forces in their entirety.

The main actor in this story, who tweets under the username @MajChowdhury and is presumably the Major Chaudhary Air Marshall Suri was referring to, has given life to extremely troubling rumours in the past as well which had the potential to threaten the integrity of the Armed Forces. Last month, he had spread fake news that the 21 Sikh Regiment has refused to fight for India using a fake screenshot of Republic TV coverage. His tweet was picked up by various ‘neutral’ journalists as well.

Thus, the principal actor in this story appears to be a repeat offender who has spread dangerous lies in the past which threatened the very integrity of the Armed Forces. Again, he has attempted to pit the Armed Forces against the elected political dispensation and in the process, has used the names of individuals without their consent to give his political agenda further legitimacy. Through unethical means, has he not only attempted to compromise the integrity of the Armed Forces, but he has also attempted to pit them against the democratically elected government. Most importantly, he has attempted to use the Armed Forces to sway the results of the General Elections. A thorough investigation is required in the matter.

Army Veterans attempting to influence political discourse by claiming to represent the entirety of the Armed Forces are extremely more dangerous than Artists with their Award Wapsi Charade. They have a lot more credibility than entertainers who are not particularly renowned for their exemplary intellect. They are doing a great disservice to their own brothers in Uniforms as there are a great many among them who wholeheartedly support the current political dispensation.

Russia decorates PM Modi with its highest state honour, Order of St Andrew the Apostle

Russia has awarded Prime Minister Narendra Modi the Order of St Andrew the Apostle, the highest order of the Russian Federation.

PM Modi was awarded the order for “exceptional services in promoting a special & privileged strategic partnership between” Russia and India, the Russian embassy in India said in a tweet.

The Order of St Andrew the Apostle was established in the 17th century by Peter the Great in 1699 and it is the oldest of Russia’s state decorations. The Order of St Andrew the Apostle is both the highest and the oldest state decoration of Russia. The order was abolished in the erstwhile Soviet Union in 1918 and was re-established in 1998.

Recently, The United Arab Emirates had awarded Prime Minister Modi with the highest civilian honour ‘Zayed Medal’ for boosting the relations between India and the Emirates.

in addition to these awards, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been conferred with prestigious Seoul Peace Prize 2018 for his contribution towards improving international cooperation, raising global economic growth, accelerating the Human Development of the people of India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been receiving accolades from across the globe for his commitment to global peace and sustainable development. Recently, The United Nations awarded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emanuel Macron with 2018 ‘Champions of the Earth Awards’. PM Narendra Modi was bestowed with this honour for his sustainable development initiatives and “unprecedented pledge to eliminate all single-use plastic in India by 2022.”

PM Modi has also received the Amir Abdullah Khan award, the highest civilian honour of Afghanistan and the King Abdullaziz Sash award, the highest civilian decoration of Saudi Arabia in 2016.

Modi ministers in five years – External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj

In the third part of the achievements of Narendra Modi government, we take a look at how Sushma Swaraj has transformed the Ministry of External Affairs into a people-friendly ministry. Earlier, we studied achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

Sushma Swaraj’s father was a prominent RSS member and she started her political career in 70s with ABVP, the student wing of RSS. She was first elected as one of the youngest MLA in Haryana, in 1977, at the age of 25. She was also a part of the cabinet of Haryana, the youngest to hold the post of the Cabinet Minister in any state. She was elected as state president of Janata Party, Haryana in 1977 at the age of 27. Later she went on the serve BJP at the national level in different positions. She was also a Minister for Information and Broadcasting in central government during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure as PM. Her most notable contribution during this term was, to declare film production as an industry making it eligible to get bank finances. She resigned from Union Cabinet to assume charge of Chief Minister of Delhi in 1998, however, this tenure was short-lived and BJP was defeated in subsequent Delhi Assembly elections and she returned to national politics and continued to hold different ministries in Central Government till May 2004. She was also Minister of Health from January 2003 to May 2004 during which central government gave nod to six AIIMS at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh. After 2009 Loksabha elections, she was appointed as Leader of Opposition in Loksabha, a post which she continued to hold till May 2014, when she was appointed as Minister of External Affairs in Narendra Modi Cabinet.

India’s foreign policy has historically been always driven by the Prime Minister, with Minister of External Affairs playing supporting role to the Prime Minister. Narendra Modi government continued this trend with Sushma Swaraj ably supporting the Prime Minister. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sushma Swaraj, India secured also secured its strategic interests by operationalizing Chabahar port in Iran, naval base in Seychelles, Mauritius, berthing rights at Vietnam, naval access to Changi port in Singapore, boosting India’s strategic manoeuvring and also countering China’s growing influence in Indian Ocean region.

However, what was not so people-oriented ministry before, has got a complete facelift under Sushma Swaraj, which has become one of the most people friendly ministry in the last five years. We take a look at the transformation of the Ministry of External Affairs under Sushma Swaraj.

Improved Communication with the intelligent use of Social Media – Sushma Swaraj improved communication of this ministry, and brought this ministry closer to the common man like never before. Sushma Swaraj was the first minister of the Modi government to make effective use of social media platforms, particularly Twitter, to help Indian people stranded in foreign countries. She has helped countless Indians, who lost their passports, or were stranded in other countries due to other reasons. Earlier this would be a nightmare situation for the people. Now people know that their one tweet would do the job. Her witty replies on Twitter bring smiles on the face of people.

MEA launched Madad portal for Indians in need in foreign countries – Through this portal, Indians visiting or staying abroad can get access to consular service at the click of a mouse, through respective Indian High Commissions/Embassies. This service is particularly beneficial for students, migrant workers, and tourists who face some problems in other countries, and feel helpless. They can now reach Indian Embassies and High Commissions online if they face any kind of problems in foreign countries.

Improvement in passport services and simplification of rules – Getting a passport was a nightmare earlier, with so many complex rules. Though the improvement in passport services started under previous government with partial privatization of services through Tata Consultancy Services, the situation has only improved further. Now you can get a passport through regular process in as less as 3 days, if all your required documents are in place.

Post Office Passport Seva Kendra

This government has also opened up Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) offices in major post offices across the nation, eliminating the need to travel for passport offices located in major cities and often having jurisdiction of 6 -10 districts under them. With Post office PSKs, the government aims to bring passport services to people at their doorsteps within 50 kilometers of their residence.

Rescue operations in war torn countries – MEA carried out rescue operations for stranded Indians, in the war torn countries like Yemen, Libya, Iraq etc. with Minister of State Gen. VK Singh, personally flying to these countries to coordinate the operations, and give a message to the Indians that they aren’t alone, and the government is firmly behind them. These rescue operations were not only limited to Indians, but also to the foreign nationals of even countries like the USA and Germany at their request.

From Libya, more than 5,000 people were rescued while from Yemen, Indian government rescued 4,748 Indians, and 1,962 foreigners. The government also rescued 46 Indian nurses (mostly Christians from Kerala) in Iraq along with 7,000 others and Father Alex Prem Kumar in Afghanistan from the captivity of militants. Who says this government is anti-minority?

E- Visas – India changed its policy with regards to visas and started issuing E- Visa’s to tourists to visit India. This has resulted in a historic rise in tourist arrivals to India and thereby strengthening the tourism business and increased forex earnings. As per the latest reports, now E-visa has been practically extended to all countries in the world, which started from 43 countries in November 2014 . Apart from tourists, E-visas have also been extended to four other categories – Medical, Business, Conference and Medical Attendant, thereby also helping medical tourism and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Events) business for hotels. Recently MEA further liberlised the E-Visa regime, making it more tourist friendly.

Raksha Mantri Sitharaman condemns the ‘fake letter’ claiming to have signature of armed forces veterans

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has shared her views on the letter to the Rashtrapati Bhavan allegedly signed by Army veterans whose authenticity is now under scanner.

The Defence Minister mentioned that two highly decorated veterans, a former air chief and a major general have now denied signing it. She said that even the Rashtrapati Bhavan has denied receiving any such letter and it is already out in the public domain. “It is very worrying that if even people’s consent are not being taken and fake letters, fake allegations are being signed by some vested interest groups, it is absolutely condemnable”, said the Defence Minister.

It is notable here that several veterans have now denied signing the letter and refused to endorse the statements made in the letter. Army veterans like Air Marshall Suri, General SF Rodrigues, Former Army Vice Chief Lt General ML Naidu have said that their consent was not taken for the letter and that the did not sign any such letter.

She said that genuine complaints are welcome but such fake complaints should not be given during the time of the election. “Without taking the permission of people who are eminent citizens, eminent officers, you just include their names in the petition, it is objectionable”, she added.

The purported letter has been doing rounds on social media and is being used to attack the government. Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi had also mentioned the letter during a media briefing today. Congress has been propagating the questionable letter through its official social media channels to launch attacks on the government.

Congress workers stab BJP supporters who came to cast their votes in Assam

Three people were reportedly injured in a tussle between Congress workers and BJP supporters at a polling station during the first phase of Lok Sabha elections yesterday in the Nagaon district of Assam.

According to the reports, Congress workers had allegedly stopped BJP supporters from casting their votes at the Futajar High Madrasa polling station at Rupahihat in Assam’s Kaliabor Lok Sabha constituency. The situation quickly devolved and exacerbated when a former panchayat president of Futaljar village panchayat named A Hannan attacked a BJP supporter identified as Zahirul Islam with a knife. Besides Zahirul, two other BJP supporters Khairul Islam and Moinul Haque were also injured in the scuffle.

The injured were immediately taken to the hospital and an FIR was also lodged against the attackers at Rupahihat police station on the complaint of the injured against A Hannan. The police have initiated the investigation and an operation is underway to arrest the assaulters.

Former CM Tarun Gogoi’s son and current MP Gaurav Gogoi is seeking re-election from Kaliabor, where he is being helped by AIUDF by not fielding any candidate. Gogoi is facing tough competition from AGP’s Moni Madhab Mahanta, who is contesting on behalf of NDA. Kaliabor is one of the three seats allotted to AGP.

So while the opposition keeps clamouring about democracy in danger, Rahul Gandhi’s supporters in Assam actually tried to put to democracy in danger by trying to forcibly prevent BJP supporters from exercising the fundamental duty of casting their votes.

Keep these questions in your quiver against the suspect media when Modi comes back to power

As 2019 Lok Sabha polls unroll, I want you to look at the faces of the ’eminent journalist’ of our times. Ask them a few simple questions on social media. Most likely they won’t reply. But you would know not to trust them. It’s important as Prime Minister Narendra Modi gets set for his second term. It’s important they lose respect in your eyes for they have set a matrix and don’t allow readers to come out of it. Your ignorance is their strength. Once they lose their powers over you, they would be of no use to those they look up to. A nation has more to worry about enemies within than enemies outside. So here are a few questions I want you to ask them:

On Secularism

How come you give wide coverage to “threat to secularism” under Modi government but have no qualms when a Mayawati asks for all Muslim votes in a public rally. Isn’t it a threat to secularism? Don’t you have a question for award-wapsi gang and letter signatories who emerge from nowhere to nail Modi on that count? Have you questioned their silence on Mayawati?

On Freedom of Speech:

You cry yourself hoarse that because of draconian sedition laws, “freedom of speech” is shackled. When a biopic on Prime Minister is made and dragged to courts, you don’t think it’s a violation of “freedom of speech.” How a Modi biopic any different from “Udta Punjab” on the eve of Punjab assembly elections? You condemn BJP on sedition laws but didn’t utter a word when Congress booked 6,000 under sedition law in Tamil Nadu.

On Kashmir

Your Jammu and Kashmir is centred only around two and a half districts of the state. The progress of Jammu and Ladakh escapes you. That every house in Jammu and Kashmir today is electrified; every house has a toilet. Exports and agriculture are on the upswing. Tourism has grown. Amarnath Yatra travellers have doubled. So have the ones to Vaishno Devi pilgrimage. Educational institutions have sprung up manifold. J & K has become so good in sports its football team is beating fancied Bengal clubs and entering I-League.

As you question BJP on human rights violation in Kashmir, have you praised the Centre for releasing 9,000 stone-pelters and not levy a single charge against them? Did you acknowledge that this is the same BJP government which announced a unilateral ceasefire during Ramadan in the Valley? Or the purse they freed from J and K floods? Did you stop and question Congress which condemns the armed forces for its “excesses” under Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) even though not one case has been reported against them in the UN Peacekeeping Forces where they constitute a majority?

Did they applaud when 75 per cent voted during panchayat elections in Jammu & Kashmir? Were you up on your feet when not a single incident of violence was reported during J & K panchayat elections. Did you take it as a cue and come down hard on Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal where panchayat elections saw dozens of murders and violence was so real that 34 percent of seats went uncontested?

On Article 370 and 35A

Every day you find lectures in newspapers about the constitutional inviolability of these two draconian laws which allows Jammu & Kashmir to have their own constitution and disallow any outsider to settle in the state. They make you so weary that you don’t stop to ask how would J & K grow if IIM lecturers from other parts of India can’t reside in the state. How would investment come when businessmen are not sure of how would they be treated. Whether in the name of Kashmiriyat, all that the people in the Valley have seen is separatists and political dynasts operate a fiefdom and keep Kashmir under their thumbs. Have they opposed Pakistan for illegally occupying a big chunk of Kashmir? Have they questioned how could Pakistan give away Gilgit-Baltistan to China? When people applaud NIA raids on bigwigs of the state, doesn’t it deserve a reflection if people indeed don’t want these separatists and dynasts to represent them?

On Congress

Why our newspapers don’t take up expose’ on Rahul Gandhi and his clandestine deals with evidence as OpIndia recently did? Why they don’t question him when he runs away to Wayanad in Kerala in the name of promoting North-South unity. What unity for it was Congress which split open Andhra Pradesh into two states, Telangana being carved out of AP’s womb. Did you question him on AP division?

When Congress talks about “Nyay (justice)”, what “nyay” have Muslim women got on the matter of triple talaq? The riot victims of 1984; the fake loan-waiving promise by recent Congress governments in Chattisgarh, MP and Rajasthan; fake promise of money to every youth; Bhopal gas victims; ISRO scientists being jailed; fake cases and jails on Samjauhta Express; the dead body of their own stalwart Narasimha Rao not being allowed inside Congress headquarters; the “nyay” denied to Ambedkar, Patel and Subhas Chandra Bose in terms of stature in history books? What “nyay” nonsense thus, did you question?

In 2004 Congress promised full electricity, loan-waivers to farmers; the same in 2009, same in 2014. Have media goons ever questioned them on their track records?

Lynchings against Dalits and Muslims:

As per the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, between 2009-2013, crimes against Dalits rose by 17.3%. This meant one crime every 15 minutes for five years running. Crime against women rose to 27 percent. Under NDA, it was 3% in 2015. The latest NCRB data reports under 5% growth in crimes against women and SC/STs.

Records show that between 2000-2017, 63 vigilante attacks took place—an average of nine per year. BJP is blamed for vitiating the communal harmony of the country. Now similar attacks are happening in Congress-led state governments. But there is no outrage. When a Muslim-turned atheist, Farooq is lynched in Kerala, there is no outrage. When cow protector Prashant Poojary is lynched in Karnataka, no outrage. Malda killings, no outrage. Political murders in Bengal and Kerala, no outrage.

BJP blamed for damaging institutions:

Really? When Congress goes to vile length to prove EVM as hack-ables; when it launches “impeachment” motion against the Chief Justice of Supreme Court? When it allows fake narratives on Rafale despite Supreme Court and CAG clean-chit, doesn’t it damage institutions? When Mamata Banerjee stops CBI from executing their duty vis-à-vis Kolkata police commissioner, doesn’t it damage institutions? When BJP leaders are not allowed to land and rally in Bengal, doesn’t it damage institutions? Would the media recall Atal Bihari Vajpayee being called a “deshdrohi (traitor) in parliament? When the Income Tax department is recovering thousands of crores in their raids and they are blamed for being Modi’s puppet, is it damaging or helping the institutions? When soldiers are being questioned if indeed they did surgical strikes, is it helping or damaging the institutions?

Why Congress, even BJP and allies are dynasts

Whenever a charge of dynasty is made against Gandhis, the Lutyens Media quickly gets the word around that BJP and its allies are dynasts too. They won’t point out the difference: Congress controls party within the family; BJP/Allies have a lineage which seeks approval from voters. Congress keeps reins within the family by keeping yes men around. BJP/Allies progenies are dependent on voters’ approval.

Modi is suit-boot ki sarkar

If Modi is providing electricity to every house in the country; if toilets are being made for every household, if houses are being built for every citizen, are they being built for Ambanis and Adanis?

Amit Shah is being groomed to be a minister

BJP president Amit Shah has been given a Lok Sabha ticket. Opponents say it’s to fast track his entry into the Union Cabinet. But did BJP really need to take down that road? When Amit Shah has been a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament for a year and a half, he could have been made a minister in a matter of seconds. He didn’t need to take the Lok Sabha route.

Indeed, for every question which sick media asks of Modi and his government, there are ten questions which logically emerge against the Congress and its opponents. But they are spared the rod. This is the face of India’s unfair and biased media. Keep a tab on them. There would be more poison spewed in Modi 2.0. As long as you could direct logical questions to them, you would keep them pinned in the mud of their own lies and deceit. That’s all that is needed to break India free of this eco-system.

The Tashkent Files review: A political thriller which will make you question the version of history India has been fed all along

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s The Tashkent Files, a film which is based on the incidents surrounding the mysterious death of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, releases today after overcoming quite a few roadblocks.

It is a little unusual for the Hindi film industry to touch upon political thrillers which are focussed on historical facts especially when they are mired in controversies. More so when it involves a political party which does not take too kindly to their dealings being put up on the celluloid. In The Tashkent Files Vivek Agnihotri in a brave attempt scratches the surface to try and know more about the air of mystery surrounding the sudden death of Lal Bahadur Shastri. Or was it a murder?

Agnihotri’s political views are out in the open for all to see. Because of which he has been maligned, mocked at and even physically attacked by political goons. Hence, some of the reactions his film is getting are quite predictable.

‘Film critic’ ‘reviewing’ the director on basis of his political ideology instead of the film which he is supposed to

However, an honest assessment of the movie is that the film has its moments. Mithun Chakraborty as the leader of the opposition is back on the big screen after a long time playing a very balanced and nuanced character. Naseeruddin Shah as PKR Natarajan, a minister in the ruling party, gives us a glimpse of the Lutyens circles. Actor, Shweta Basu Prasad, who has won the National Award for Makdee, is a natural and carries the film on her shoulders.

These are supported by fabulous actors like Pallavi Joshi, Pankaj Tripathi, Mandira Bedi and Prakash Belawadi. The film is an extremely well-researched film which tries to ask a few uncomfortable questions without demonising any politician or a political party which may or may not have had anything to do with Prime Minister Shastri’s mysterious death and subsequent lack of investigation.

One may accuse Vivek of ‘copying’ the format of the legendary Hollywood movie ‘Twelve Angry Men’, but that will be an unfair charge as the format has been used often and renowned director Basu Chatterjee had made ‘Ek Ruka Hua Faisla’ following almost identical format and storyline back in 1986 itself. The Tashkent Files uses the same format to tell the story that should have been told long back.

The film makes a few startling revelations. Just how far were the intelligence agencies of the US and the then USSR involved? How deep had they infiltrated India through the politicians and media? Why was any inquiry commission not set up after Prime Minister Shastri’s death? Why was an autopsy not carried out? Why are there two separate versions of the medical report? Why the inconsistency? Why did the two witnesses who attended to PM Shastri in his last moments ‘coincidentally’ meet with road accidents?

Prime Minister Shastri’s body had turned blue-black, there were cut-marks on his body, there were dried blood marks on the body but despite this, the government of India did not think it was necessary to carry out an autopsy. Does this not raise alarm bells? The Tashkent Files brings together hours and years of research and puts out a coherent narration which leaves you angry and frustrated at what could be one of the biggest ‘coverups’ in independent India.

All in all, in when the country is spruced up with the ongoing general elections, this political thriller makes a great watch. The Netflix-generation, especially should watch the movie and learn more about the son of the soil and ask questions. Hope there is an investigation carried out on former Prime Minister Shastri’s mysterious death and the family as well as the country can get some closure.

I’ll give the movie four out of five stars.

Supreme Court to hear BJP’s contempt of court petition against Rahul Gandhi for misquoting court order on Rafale

National spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party and a Supreme Court of India lawyer, Meenakshi Lekhi has filed a contempt petition against Congress chief Rahul Gandhi over his ‘Chowkidar chor hain’ remarks against PM Modi after the Supreme Court order on Rafale.

The Supreme court has agreed to hear the contempt petition filed by the BJP lawmaker against Rahul Gandhi on April 15. The matter was mentioned in the court by Senior Counsel Mukul Rohatgi. The Bench comprising CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Sanjiv Khanna will hear the matter on Monday.

The BJP on Wednesday slammed the Congress president after he claimed that the top court has made it “clear” that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had “committed a theft”. Rahul Gandhi made the comments referring to the SC nod on the admissibility of “leaked documents” in the  Rafale case.

Addressing a press conference, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had hit back at Rahul Gandhi over his comments hailing the Supreme Court order in the Rafale case. She had said, “the Congress president probably doesn’t read even half a paragraph of the court’s order, but here, by saying that the court has said ‘chowkidaar chor hai’, it is verging on contempt of court.”

The president of a party which has been in power for so many years has shown his frustration bt attributing words to the apex which were not uttered, she said.

Nirmala Sitharaman had clarified that court order was limited to whether it should consider the documents the government said were illegally obtained by petitioner.

The minister, irked by Rahul’s comment, said that he had crossed the norms of decency by misrepresenting the Supreme Court, “His pet line and his pet theory, he says Supreme Court has accepted graft, where was it accepted? A person who is on bail, who has given him the right to mislead, to misinterpret court verdict?”

On Wednesday the apex court allowed the admissibility of three documents as evidence in re-examining the review petitions concerning the Rafale deal. Court had dismissed the union government’s objections on the maintainability of the documents. The documents related to the Rafale deal are from the defence ministry, and the government says that they were illegally obtained by the petitioners and the newspapers that had published them. The Supreme Court had earlier given a clean chit to PM Modi in the Rafale deal, and it is hearing the review petitions on the issue.

The Supreme Court was hearing five Rafale review petitions, mainly on the issues of the admissibility of “stolen” Rafale documents as evidence and the claim of privilege raised on them by the government.

The Union government represented by Attorney-General KK Venugopal had argued that the review petition should be dismissed at the preliminary stage itself because they were based on “stolen” documents published in newspapers like The Hindu.

Rahul Gandhi had distorted the SC order while talking to the media, and said that Supreme Court has accepted that there is some form of corruption in Rafale deal & that “chowkidaar ne chori karwayi hai”.

Responding to the Supreme Court order, the Union government released a press statement in which the Defence Minister reiterated that the petitioners are using the “stolen” documents with an intention to present a selective and incomplete picture of the internal secret deliberations on the matter pertaining to country’s national security and defence.

“The documents presented by the petitioners are failing to bring out how the issues were addressed and resolved and necessary approvals of the competent authorities taken. These are a selective and incomplete presentation of the facts and records by the petitioners,” said Defence Ministry according to ANI.

Rahul Gandhi and his brigade have been using the Rafale issue as a tool to defame the Prime Minister for over a year. He has been shamelessly lying over and over again in the hope that one of them will stick given the fact that he has the support from the ‘pliant media’.
