Amritsar: SGPC files case against woman for ‘heinous act’ of performing Yoga in Golden Temple premises, takes action against 3 employees for allowing it

In a shocking development, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has filed a complaint against a woman for performing Yoga inside the Sri Darbar Sahib premises, popularly known as Golden Temple, in Amritsar. The step was taken after visuals of the Instagram influencer performing Yoga in Sri Darbar Sahib Prakrama on International Yoga Day on 21 June appeared on social media.

The committee has also ordered action against three employees of Prakrama for allegedly not performing their duties diligently. Shiromani Committee President Harjinder Singh Dhami said that ‘no one can be allowed to act against Guru Mati at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, but some people deliberately ignore the sanctity and historical importance of this holy place and commit heinous acts.’

Dhami said that Sikh sentiments were hurt by the act of the woman Archana Makwana, and therefore a complaint has been filed against her. He said that the woman has already apologise for the act, and added people should not do such act that requires to apologise later.

Talking about the development, General Manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Bhagwant Singh Dhangera said that images of Makwana doing Yoga in the premises appeared on social media, CCTV cameras were checked to verify. After analysing the footage, it was found that the woman posed in a Yoga position for only about 5 seconds.

As a result, action has been initiated against three sevadars – Gaganpal Singh, Harjinder Singh and Palwinder Singh – over the allegations of dereliction of duty. Two of these employees already have been suspended, and the other has been fined ₹5,000 and transferred to Gurdwara Garhi Sahib Gurdas Nangal.

Bhagwant Singh Dhangera added that woman’s behavior has hurt the sentiments of the Sikhs, due to which a police complaint has been filed against the girl.

The phots and videos have already been removed by Archana Makwana from her Instagram account.

Muzaffarnagar: Mujahid accuses Omprakash of getting his sex-change surgery done without his knowledge, hospital releases video of Mujahid consenting to the procedure

A strange case of sex-change surgery has come to light in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. A person named Mujahid has accused another person named Omprakash of coercing him to visit a hospital, where Dr. Farooqui allegedly removed his genitals as part of sex-change surgery. However, the hospital released a video where Mujahid could be seen giving his consent for the surgery.

After getting information about the allegations by Mujahid, members of the ‘Bharatiya Kisan Union’ came out in support of Mujahid. They staged a protest on Wednesday (19th June) to demand action against Omprakash and Dr. Farooqui. However, the hospital released a video featuring Mujahid, where he expressed his desire to undergo the sex-change operation willingly and without coercion.

As per reports, the matter pertains to the Begrajpur Medical College. Mujahid alleged that Omprakash coaxed him into being admitted to the hospital, where Omprakash allegedly colluded with doctors to perform sex-change surgery on him. He also accused Omprakash of committing ‘indecent acts’ with him over several months.

After Mujahid made these allegations, the Medical College released a video in which he gave consent for the operation, asserting that he wanted to undergo sex-change surgery willingly. In the video, Mujahid stated that he desires to change his gender and has been informed about all the complications of the surgery. He also acknowledged that he understands that after this operation, he will not be the same as before.

Mujahid emphasized in the video statement that he was neither mentally ill nor under any duress, stressing that he chose to undergo the operation without any pressure.

In the video, Mujahid also states that he is undergoing the operation voluntarily, and in case of any incident during this time, neither the hospital, doctor, nurse nor anyone else will be held responsible. He asserts that he himself takes full responsibility.

Kirti Goswami, the CMS of the Medical College, stated that Mujahid had been visiting the plastic surgery department for one or two months. He underwent various tests and then chose to undergo the sex-change surgery on his own accord. Accordingly, Dr. Raza Farooqui of the hospital performed the sex-change surgery on Mujahid.

‘She goes to eat and rest in an AC room during lunchtime and at night’: Delhi-BJP slams Atishi Marlena, calls her hunger-strike fake

On 21st June, Delhi Water Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi Marlena began an indefinite hunger strike demanding that Haryana release Delhi’s “rightful” share of water. The national capital has been experiencing a severe water scarcity, with the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled state of Haryana, she alleged, reducing the city’s water supply, directly impacting about 28 lakh residents. Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, was among the prominent AAP leaders present during the event which she to as “Paani Satyagraha.”

However, the Delhi unit of BJP has termed the fast as a sham and wrote, “What kind of indefinite satyagraha is this, where Atishi goes to eat and rest in an AC room during lunchtime and at night? A big scam is going on.” The party also shared a video of empty chairs as well as the podium with images of Atishi Marlena and Arvind Kejriwal in the background on social media to drive the point home.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa also uploaded a video to question the Delhi minister and charged, “AAP’s minister Atishi Marlena claims it to be her second day of hunger strike and is going to the temple. First of all, I don’t understand how the followers of Marx and Lenin could visit temples. What can be a bigger fraud than this? This is equally fake as her hunger strike. She disappears during the day and in the evening. She takes her meals and then claims to be fasting.

He added, “If you truly choose to go on a hunger strike, do it in opposition to the tanker mafia and the MLAs from your party who have embezzled crores from the mafia while denying the Delhi people access to water. Arvind Kejriwal used to criticize the same tanker mafia in his videos, claiming that they have looted crores from Delhi and taken their water. If voted to power he would destroy their unjust authority. Atishi stop your drama and provide water to the citizens of Delhi.”

The Delhi Jal Board should have made preparations for the water problem earlier, according to BJP’s Bansuri Swaraj, considering that the weather agency had repeatedly warned of the extreme heat. The MP further questioned why, given that the AAP is in government in both Delhi and Punjab, they had not requested water from the Bhagwant Mann government. The AAP leader’s decision to stage her protest at Bhogal was reportedly motivated by her intention to run in the Assembly election the following year from the Jangpura seat, according to the BJP.

NEET-UG row: Paper reportedly leaked in Jharkhand, a professor sent it to “mastermind” Sanjeev Mukhiya on WhatsApp, read details

Bihar Police’s Economic Offences Unit (EOU) is probing the NEET-UG paper leak case which was held on 5th May this year. During this time, they received information that some students had already received the question paper and they memorised the answers. When the cops reached the spot where the applicants memorised the answers, they found a burnt question paper and recovered booklet number 636488 from there. According to sources, the booklet belonged to an exam centre in Hazaribagh. It is believed that the paper was leaked from Jharkhand.

The 53-year-old technical assistant at a government institution in Nalanda, Sanjeev Mukhiya, is the focus of the investigation of the Bihar Economic Offences Unit (EOU). Officials believe he is one of the masterminds behind the paper leak. According to Bihar police investigators, he is the leader of a gang that operates in several states to profit from rigging competitive exams. The Uttarakhand Police had previously apprehended him in 2016. His son Shiv Kumar was also arrested in one such case and is currently being held at the Beur jail in Ujjain due to suspicions of leaking the Bihar Public Service Commission Teacher Recruitment Examination in April 2024.

This group spent several months in planning the scam and Mukhiya obtained the question paper via WhatsApp from a professor. Afterwards, the paper was solved with the aid of Patna and Ranchi medical students. On the morning of 5th May, the paper was sent to Chintu alias Baldev’s mobile along with the solution. The investigating agency has also received information about the professor who sent the message.

At Chintu’s request, Pintu from Hilsa took a printout of the paper and at 9 AM, distributed it among twenty to twenty-five candidates who were staying at the now-closed Learn and Play School and Boys Hostel in remote Khemnichak to memorize the same.

A student named Abhishek was taken into custody by the police from the testing centre on 5th May. The same day his father Awadhesh, who lives in Ranchi, was also arrested. Sikandar P Yadvendu (56), a junior engineer at the municipal committee of Danapur, has also been nabbed in connection with the paper leak case. The investigation has pinpointed him as the prime suspect in the dissemination of NEET question papers. He worked as a contractor in Ranchi before 2012 and Awadhesh was his clerk. Afterwards, the latter did land business in Ranchi and acquired property worth crores in just 12 years. Awadhesh is reportedly Sikandar’s investor.

Sikandar is from a farmer’s family with agricultural roots in Samastipur and was a small-time contractor until 2012. He holds a diploma in engineering and has a background as a contractor spanning fifteen years. His professional trajectory took a turn in 2012 when he secured a junior engineer position with the water resources department. He has also amassed property in Ranchi valued at crores. He has a home and an apartment in Ranchi’s Jagatpuram. He set up a sports showroom for his son on Ranchi’s bypass route about three months ago. His daughter has completed MBBS.

The police have also learned that Awadhesh invested Sikandar’s illegal earnings in land business in Ranchi. The investigating agency will also file a case of disproportionate assets against the latter. Awadhesh was also shot and injured in Ranchi in 2023 in a dispute over land business.

Meanwhile Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha has accused former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav’s personal secretary and Bihar Administrative Service officer Pritam Kumar for the leak and stated, “On May 1, Tejashwi Yadav’s personal secretary Pritam Kumar called guesthouse worker Pradip Kumar to book a room for Sikander Kumar Yadvendu. On May 4, Pritam Kumar called Pradip Kumar again to book the room.”

Sinha added, “The word ‘Mantri’ was used for Tejashwi Yadav. Sikandar Yadvendu is a close relative of Tejashwi Yadav’s PS Pritam Kumar. An NHAI guest house was booked for Sikandar’s sister Reena Yadav and son Anurag Yadav on May 4. A phone number and ‘Mantri Ji’ were mentioned in the NHAI guest house’s diary. The investigating agency is trying to identify this Mantri Ji.”

Bihar EOU has sent a notice to Nalanda police asking them to arrest Sanjeev Mukhiya. Nalanda police raided his house on 21st June but he was found absconding. His family members were also questioned in the matter. He is the only accused named in the FIR who is yet to be arrested. On 4th June, he applied for anticipatory bail before a Patna district and sessions court, which postponed the hearing until 4th July. According to a police official, they were looking for him at different places based on tips. The official added, “We are hopeful of catching him over the next few days. We are keeping a tab on him.”

The police are also searching for other accused including Rocky alias Rakesh Ranjan, Chintu alias Baldev, Pintu, and Ashutosh concerning the paper leak.

Union govt notifies Telecommunications Act, the new allows govt to take control of all telecom networks during emergency situations

The central government will be able to take control of any telecommunications services or networks in times of emergency after the implementation of the Telecommunications Act 2023, which will be effective on June 26.

The Centre, though partially, notified the Telecommunications Act on Friday to be effective from June 26, and provisions including sections 1, 2, 10, and 30 will be in place.

“The Central government hereby appoints the 26th day of June 2024, as the date on which the provisions of sections 1, 2, 10 to 30, 42 to 44, 46, 47, 50 to 58, 61 and 62 of the said Act shall come into force,” the Gazette notification said.

According to the notification, the government may take control of the telecom services on the grounds of security, public order, or prevention of offences.

Section 20, which will be effective on June 26 states, “On the occurrence of any public emergency, including disaster management, or in the interest of public safety, the Central Government or a State Government or any officer specially authorised in this behalf by the Central Government or a State Government can take temporary possession of any telecommunication service or telecommunication network from an authorised entity; or provide for appropriate mechanisms to ensure that messages of a user or group of users authorised for response and recovery during a public emergency are routed on priority.”

As per the act, any telecom player who wants to establish or operate telecommunication networks, provide services or possess ratio equipment will have to be authorised by the government.

After the rules of the Act comes into effect, the Universal Service Obligation Fund will become Digital Bharat Nidhi, which can be used for funding research and development, and pilot projects instead of just supporting the establishment of telecom services in rural areas.

However, some other sections of the act such as the administrative allocation of spectrum, including for the satellite services, and adjudication mechanism etc will be notified later.

The act, after it comes into effect, will supersede the existing rules within the telecommunications sector, which come under the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885, and the Wireless Telegraphy Act (1933), among others.

Love jihad in MP: Shahrukh pretends to be Rohit to trap a Hindu girl, takes help of friend Junaid to pressurise and threaten her to convert and marry him, both arrested

A case of love jihad has surfaced from Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district. A Muslim youth in the Sadalpur area befriended a Hindu girl by hiding his identity and as their relationship progressed he pressured her to embrace Islam for marriage. Afterwards, she lodged a complaint at the police station based on which a First Information Report was filed and the offender was arrested along with his friend.

Shahrukh, a resident of Chowki Sewara, pretended to be Rohit to seduce the victim who is from Sadalpur. However, she started to distance herself from him upon learning his true identity after which he began to threaten her.

He had taken several photographs of her and warned that he would edit them and then post them on social media. He continuously forced her to talk to him and meet him. He even pushed her to convert and tie the knot with him. On 20th June in the late hours, she went to a medical shop to buy medicines. The store belonged to a friend of the perpetrator, named Junaid from Kesur. Shahrukh arrived there at the same time and started harassing her which scared her and she started to scream. People heard her cries and gathered at the spot but he escaped.

Hindu activists rushed to the location after learning about the matter and the girl submitted a complaint with their help. The two Muslim males have been named as accused by the cops. Junaid was also forcing her to change her religion and also issued death threats when she refused to comply. Sadalpur police station in-charge Savita Chaudhary said that the woman sells vegetables on a cart and Shahrukh used to visit her under the guise of purchasing vegetables and made friends with her by claiming to be a Hindu.

Afterwards, he gradually began to talk to her about Islam. He used to praise the religion and refer to it as “very good” and even encouraged others to convert. Now, the authorities have booked him and his companion under various sections of the Madhya Pradesh Religious Freedom Act 2021 in addition to molestation. The cops carried out raids and apprehended the duo. Hindu organisations have demanded strict action in the case to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future.
