AAP’s scrapped liquor policy in Delhi led to Rs 2,026 crore loss: CAG report

Aam Aadmi Party’s controversial liquor policy in Delhi, which was scrapped when it led to legal troubles for their leaders, leed to Rs 2,026 Crore loss, as per the CAG report.

A report by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has revealed that Rs 2,026 Crore loss was caused to the exchequer due to alleged irregularities in the implementation of the now-scrapped liquor policy of the Delhi government. 

The liquor policy, introduced in November 2021 but was later scrapped. Several AAP leaders including then CM Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh were arrested in the case following investigations by ED and CBI.

The CAG report revealed that all entities were allowed to bid despite complaints, and the financial conditions of the bidders were not scrutinised. Licences were granted to entities reporting losses.
