Atul Subhash suicide: Wife, her mother and brother granted bail in abetment of suicide case

Nikita Singhania, the wife of Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash, her mother, Nisha Singhania, and her brother, Anurag Singhania, have also been granted bail by a local court on Saturday, January 5, 2025.

“All three—his wife, brother-in-law, and mother-in-law—approached the Sessions Court for bail, which has now been granted. We are still reviewing the detailed order to understand the grounds and conditions imposed. We argued that it was challenging to procure them for investigation,” said public prosecutor Ponnanna.

He added, “The investigation is ongoing. We believe they should have exercised greater diligence before obtaining bail, as the process is incomplete. We are dissatisfied with the bail order and intend to challenge it.”

Bengaluru Police arrested Nikita, her mother, and her brother after Atul Subhash shared a 90-minute-long video detailing his harassment by his wife and in-laws following which he committed suicide. The video, in which he said his in-laws have demanded alimony of Rs 3 crores, instantly went viral, shaking the conscience of the entire nation and giving rise to clamours of his wife and in-laws’ arrest.

After their arrest, the three accused were sent to 14 days of judicial custody.

An FIR was registered under Sections 108 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) following a complaint by Bikas Kumar, accusing the three of abetting the suicide.
