The Lalu Prasad Yadav family has received a new notice from the Bihar government ordering them to leave the official house, known as Rabri Residence. The security coverage for multiple family members has also been revised on 4th June (Thursday). Following a security evaluation, the state government lowered the Z-plus security covers, which are the highest degree of personal protection, of former chief ministers Rabri Devi and Lalu Prasad Yadav.
More than 40 people are part of the Z-plus cover, including commandos, watches, static guards, and convoy security. The Y-category cover extended to former minister Tej Pratap Yadav was also removed. According to officials, the action is compliant with 2010 norms and a gradual reduction in security is anticipated.
Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav, former deputy chief minister and the leader of the opposition in the Bihar assembly would continue to be secured by the Y security protection. The security preparations for him, his wife Rajshree Yadav and Lok Sabha MP Misa Bharti have not changed.
16 police officers, 3 women security officials in plain clothes, 3 security guards in uniform, a bulletproof car, and a pilot vehicle will now part of Rabri Devi’s new cover. When she travels, a pilot car and escort group will be provided. Lalu Prasad Yadav will have a similar arrangement. Tej Pratap Yadav will now have a single bodyguard. He would receive a security cover designed for previous ministers and leaders.
The Lalu family has been given 15 days by the government to leave the official home located at 10 Circular Road in Patna. The house has not yet been evacuated despite an initial eviction notice being filed on 29th May. The government has now given a new deadline and reaffirmed its mandate. The property is currently occupied by Tejashwi Yadav, Rabri Devi and Lalu Prasad Yadav.
In addition to them, a number of defeated MLAs received notifications instructing them to leave government housing. The Building Construction Department authorities sent out the notices. The initial notice was handed over to Rabri Devi on 25th November of last year.
The Building Construction Department stated that the family has been given government housing at 39 Harding Road in accordance with departmental order number 122. The house has already been officially assigned to Rabri Devi. However, the Lalu family has refused to leave the current accommodation. They have been asked to move to the newly designated home two or three times in the last six months, according to officials, but the family has not complied.
