BJP Madhya Pradesh takes action against party leader for 120-vehicle convoy despite PM Modi’s fuel saving appeal, fires him from post

The Bharatiya Janata Party has taken action against a leader of the party after he disregarded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s request to save energy. The party has dismissed Sajjan Singh Yadav, who was made the District President of its Kisan Morcha in Bhind on 13th May, from his position. This decision was made following the organisation of a convoy consisting of hundreds of vehicles to welcome him. Considering this to be an “act of indiscipline,” the party has rescinded his appointment immediately.

“It has come to our attention through various newspapers and social media platforms that, on 13th May, a rally organised by the Kisan Morcha took place under your leadership, moving from Gwalior to Bhind with a procession of hundreds of vehicles. This action on your part demonstrates a disregard for the appeal made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi concerning energy conservation,” the official notification read.

It further conveyed, “In light of this development, the state organisation has taken serious notice and classified it as an act of indiscipline. Consequently, in accordance with the directives issued by the state president, Hemant Khandelwal, the appointment of Sajjan Singh Yadav as the district president of the Kisan Morcha of Bhind is hereby revoked.”

Singh reached Bhind from Gwalior, accompanied by a massive rally that featured a long convoy comprising approximately 120 vehicles. During this time, extensive traffic congestion developed on the city’s streets and the cacophony of car horns mixed with loud slogans produced a chaotic atmosphere. Photographs and videos of this rally, which was carried out with hundreds of supporters, went viral across social media platforms.

On the other hand, PM Modi was spotted travelling in a convoy of just two cars. He has repeatedly appealed to citizens to conserve petrol and diesel, reduce unnecessary imports and avoid activities that lead to excessive foreign currency expenditure, stressing that every Indian must contribute responsibly during periods of global uncertainty and economic disruption. The statements have been made in light of the war in West Asia that has caused a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, threatening global supplies for energy and fertilisers.
