According to a report by TOI, key parties from the INDIA bloc are currently discussing the issue and working on a new draft. This time, they want to address the gaps identified in the earlier rejection. One of the main reasons their previous notice was denied was that it did not clearly specify specific instances of misconduct against the CEC. Now, opposition leaders believe that if they address these issues properly, they may have a stronger case.
At the moment, discussions are still in their early stages, and it may take some time before a final decision is made. The move is also being seen as a political step, especially with controversies around voter lists and election processes in states like West Bengal. Similar concerns have been raised in other states as well.
Among the opposition, the All India Trinamool Congress is said to be leading this push. While most opposition parties agree on the issue, they have yet to decide whether to submit the new notice in both Houses again or choose just one.
This fresh move is also happening soon after the government faced a setback in Parliament over the failed 131st Constitution amendment bill related to delimitation and women’s reservation, adding more political tension to the situation.
