Election Commission fact-checks Rahul Gandhi’s ‘100% proof of vote theft’ claim, says Congress party and its losing candidates didn’t file a single petition after elections

The Election Commission of India has once again busted the lies of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on electoral rolls. The commission strongly refuted Rahul Gandhi’s claim that they have 100% proof that ECI allowed stealing of votes in a seat in Karnataka, and such thing is happening everywhere. Rahul Gandhi also threatened the ECI by saying, ‘we are going to come after you’.

In a post on X yesterday, ECI said that the claims made by Rahul Gandhi are misleading and baseless. The Election Commission of India stated that the Congress party did not file a single appeal before the District Magistrates (DM) or Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Karnataka under Section 24 of the Representation of People Act 1950 regarding the voter list for 2024 Lok Sabha Election in Karnataka, even though it was a valid legal remedy available for the party.

The commission further added that while 10 election petitions were filed regarding the Lok Sabha Election 2024 process, not a single election petition was filed by any of the losing Congress candidates, adding that it was a legal remedy available under Section 80 of the RP Act 1951.

They posted a link to a X post by Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, who had said that Electoral rolls are prepared transparently, and copies of the same were shared with recognised political parties.

A statement issued by the CEO states that copies of electoral rolls of all 224 assembly constituencies of Karnataka were shared with all recognised political parties, including the Indian National Congress. It stated between draft and final publication of the voter lists, 917928 claims and objections were received.

The statement added that while appeal can be filed against wrongful addition or deletion in the rolls, no such appeal was received.
