Uttar Pradesh: Noor becomes Mahi and marries Hindu man, couple seeks police protection from the woman’s Muslim family

A young Muslim woman from the Budaun district of Uttar Pradesh has converted to Hinduism and married her Hindu partner, a development that has drawn attention locally after videos of the wedding surfaced online.

According to media reports, the incident took place in a village under the Binawar police station limits. The Muslim woman, earlier known as Noor B, accepted Sanatan Dharma of her own free will and married Rajkumar Kashyap, with whom she had been in a relationship for a long time. After completing the religious conversion process, she adopted the name Mahi Kashyap.

Sources close to the incident revealed that the two had been in a love affair for several years, but their families did not agree to the marriage. After this, the woman decided to leave her home and get married on her own. The woman converted after the regular procedures and got married to him in a temple on Friday, 16th January in front of the sacred fire, by taking the seven vows according to Hindu rituals.

There is a video of the marriage that is doing the rounds on social media, showcasing the bride, Mahi Kashyap, explicitly stating that she married and converted of her own volition and that no pressure or coercion was applied on her.

Apprehending possible threats from the family members or society after the marriage, the couple approached the local police. A written application has been submitted to seek police protection for their safety.
