During Jana Ashirvad Yatra across Assam, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma receives warm welcome in Golaghat

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is currently travelling across the state as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Jan Ashirwad Yatra, a political outreach programme aimed at connecting with people ahead of the 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly elections.

The yatra, launched on 28th February by the Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has been drawing large crowds in several districts, with supporters gathering along the routes to greet the Chief Minister.

Party leaders say the yatra is meant to seek the blessings and goodwill of the people while also highlighting the development work carried out by the state government over the past few years.

Warm welcome during Golaghat visit

On Saturday, 7th March, the Jan Ashirwad Yatra campaign of the Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party was held across parts of the Golaghat district, with the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma beginning the campaign from the Sarupathar Assembly constituency before proceeding towards the Golaghat town. The people have been turning out in large numbers to greet the Chief Minister as the Chief Minister’s campaign convoy passed through the region.

According to the day’s schedule, the yatra will cover four Assembly constituencies in the district, namely, Sarupathar, Golaghat, Khumtai, and Dergaon. By afternoon, the Chief Minister had already covered the routes through Sarupathar and Golaghat constituencies and was expected to continue his journey through Khumtai before concluding his programme in Dergaon.

At present, villages and towns across the district are witnessing a festive atmosphere, as thousands of people eagerly await the opportunity to welcome and stand beside their beloved leader.

State BJP president Dilip Saikia and other senior party leaders are accompanying him during his campaign.

A political outreach across the state

The Jan Ashirwad Yatra was launched by the Chief Minister from Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district of Assam on 28th February. The journey of the party’s election campaign covers more than 400 kilometres and includes important Assembly constituencies of Assam

In a statement, Suranjan Dutta, BJP state spokesperson, said that the Jan Ashirwad Yatra has created huge public enthusiasm, and the programme has also boosted the morale of party workers at the grassroots level.

According to him, the programme of the party is not just a political campaign, but it also represents public support for the development works undertaken by the state government. Dutta said that the initiatives taken by the government in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and cultural activities have encouraged people to come forward and express their support.

Dutta also mentioned that the government’s eviction drives to reclaim encroached land and protect the rights of indigenous communities have received appreciation from many citizens in the region.

The Jan Ashirwad Yatra will continue through several constituencies in the coming days and is scheduled to conclude on 9th March. Party leaders believe the public response seen so far reflects growing support for the BJP as it prepares for the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam.
