On Thursday (12th December), the house of a Hindu man was set ablaze by unidentified extremists in Amtali Mouza in Bhujpur Union in Fatikchhari upazila of Bangladesh.
The victim was identified as Babu Kanti Dey. According to Dhaka-based Hindu activist Nehar Chandra Halder, the attack was carried out at 2 o’clock in the night when Dey’s family was asleep.
He informed that the extremists locked the main door of the house from outside and set fire to the building with the intention of killing the victim’s family.
The Hindu family somehow managed to escape unhurt but couldn’t save their property.

In visuals that have now surfaced on social media, it could be seen that the house and belongings of Babu Kanti Dey were reduced to ashes. His pet cow was also charred to death.
