‘I am not a rapist, paedophile’: US President Donald Trump loses his mind after reporter reads out manifesto of White House shooter

US President Donald Trump lost his cool during a CBS 60 Minutes interview on Sunday, after a reporter quoted the purported manifesto of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting suspect Cole Allen. Trump said that he is not a rapist or paedophile.

During the interview, CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell began reading the manifesto of the accused, Cole Allen, which said, “I am no longer willing to permit a paedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.”

To this, Trump lost his cool and said, “I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would, because you’re horrible people. Horrible people. Yeah, he did write that. I’m not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody.”

When the reporter tried to interject and ask if Trump thinks it was written about him, the US President said, “I’m not a paedophile. Your friends on the other side of the plate are the ones that were involved with, let’s say, Epstein or other things. But I said to myself, “You know, I’ll do this interview and they’ll probably”– I read the manifesto. You know, he’s a sick person. But you should be ashamed of yourself for reading that because I’m not any of those things.”

Trump calls Cole Allen a “radicalised, anti-Christian, sick guy”

Trump also called Cole Allen a “radicalised, sick guy”.

“I read a manifesto. He’s radicalised. He was a Christian–a believer–, and then he became an anti-Christian… He was probably a pretty sick guy,” Trump said.

On Saturday, a suspected assassination attempt at Donald Trump created panic during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, DC, after a man with multiple weapons tried to breach a security checkpoint, and shots were fired.

As reported earlier, the incident happened at the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue, where the high-profile event was underway. As soon as the situation unfolded, security personnel quickly moved Trump off the stage. Officials later confirmed that Trump and all Cabinet members present were safe.

Authorities said the suspect, identified as Cole Allen, a 31-year-old man from California, was taken into custody.
