A Hindu couple was attacked by a group of Muslim men near a CNG pump in Maharashtra’s Mira Road after a dispute over queue jumping turned violent, leading to the registration of an FIR against several accused, including a man identified as Hilal Khan.

The incident took place on 18th May near the Mahanagar CNG Pump at Shivar Garden on Mira-Bhayander Road. Based on the complaint, Mira Road Police registered FIR No. 233/2026 under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, along with provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act, as reported by Organiser.
Dispute at the CNG queue turned violent
The complaint was filed by Ajay Rajendra Chaudhary (29), an Ola-Uber driver living in Bhayandar East. Ajay said he has been living in the area with his parents for around 15 years and earns his living by driving a Hyundai Aura for Ola-Uber services.
He told police that on the morning of 18th May, he had gone to pick up his girlfriend Roma from her residence in Mira Road East to drop her at work. Roma works at a salon in Mumbai’s Sakinaka area. The couple, who have been in a relationship for five years and were planning to marry, stopped at the CNG station around 11:30 am to refill gas.
According to the complaint, separate lines had been arranged at the station for cars and autorickshaws. While Ajay was waiting in the car queue, suddenly a green Swift vehicle came from the rickshaw lane and tried to move ahead. During this, the Swift reportedly hit the left-side mirror of Ajay’s Hyundai Aura.
Assault on Hindu couple
Ajay said that when Roma rolled down the window, a Muslim woman sitting inside the Swift started abusing her. To avoid further argument, he allowed the vehicle to move ahead.
However, the matter escalated soon after. Ajay stated that two Muslim men arrived on a Bergman bike and joined the Swift driver, who was later identified as Hilal Khan. The other two were identified as Faizan Khan and Mohammad Khan.
Ajay told police that the three men pulled him out of the car and started hitting him. He also mentioned another unidentified man, around 30 to 35 years old, wearing a white T-shirt and spectacles, who joined the assault.
When Roma tried to stop them, she was pushed to the ground, and her clothes were torn in public, the complaint states. Ajay also suffered injuries to his nose and started bleeding.
FIR registered, CCTV under scan
The complaint further says that as the group tried to leave, Ajay somehow managed to catch hold of Hilal Khan and took him to the police station in an autorickshaw, where the police confirmed the identities of those involved.
Police booked Hilal Khan, Faizan Khan, Mohammad Khan, an unidentified woman from the Swift, and another unidentified man under Sections 74, 79, 115(2), 352, 189(1), 189(2), 190 and 191(2) of the BNS, along with Sections 37(1), 37(3) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
Police are now checking CCTV footage from the CNG pump and nearby areas to verify the sequence of events and identify all persons involved. The incident has sparked anger among residents and on social media, with many demanding strict action in the case.
