A disturbing video has gone viral on social media from Mumbai’s Nalasopara East, showing a minor Hindu girl being brutally beaten and tortured by a Muslim man named Mohammad Gufran Sheikh. The shocking incident took place on Monday night, 19th October, in the Santosh Bhuvan area. The victim had gone to participate in a Garba event at Garel Pada when the accused dragged her out of the pandal and started assaulting her in public.
What makes the video even more shocking is that several bystanders were just standing around watching the horrific attack, with no one stepping in to save the girl. When some onlookers warned him that they were recording the act, the accused showed no fear at all. He brazenly yelled at them, saying, “Arre! bana video, bana”.

Case registered and accused arrested
According to Senior Inspector Sachin Kamble of the Pelhar police station, the victim and the accused were friends. However, Sheikh grew extremely angry because the girl had stopped talking to him. This personal grudge led him to target and physically assault her outside the Garba venue.

Following widespread outrage on social media, Pelhar police registered a case against Sheikh under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and arrested him. Further legal proceedings are underway.
The incident has also drawn reactions from Hindu organisations, which have demanded strict action against the accused. The case has brought renewed attention to the safety of girls attending public festivals and the need for people to intervene safely and alert the police when they witness an assault.
