On Monday (10th February) evening, a violent Muslim mob laid siege to a stall for selling the book of exiled Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen. The incident occurred during the 2025 Amar Ekushey Book Fair, which is held in Dhaka.
The mob attacked the Sabyasachi Prokashoni stall for selling Taslima Nasreen’s book ‘Chumbon.’ The attackers switched off the light of the stall and ambushed the writer Shatabdi Bhav, who was present there at that time.
The radical Muslims engaged in a heated confrontation and demanded an apology from the writer. Forced by circumstances, he had to apologise with folded hands.

On learning about the matter, the police reached the spot and detained Shatabdi Bhav. They then took him to the police control room. The cops forcibly shut down the stall of Sabyasachi Prokashoni and covered it with tarpaulin.
It has come to light that Muslims had been demanding the demolition of the stall on social media for allegedly ‘promoting atheism’.
Taslima Nasreen has strongly reacted to the incident. “Today, jihadist religious extremists attacked the stall of the publisher Sabyasachi at Bangladesh’s book fair. Their “crime” was publishing my book,” she said in a tweet on Monday (10th February).
