Ambedkarite activist Nishu Aazad has claimed that her house in Ghaziabad was attacked with stones and bricks. However, her neighbours have denied that any such incident took place and have asked the police to check the CCTV footage and establish what actually happened.

Azad posted a video on X at around 10:48 pm on Saturday, 5th September, saying that several people had surrounded her house and pelted it with stones and bricks. She also sought protection from the Delhi and Ghaziabad police for her parents and family, asking, “If anything happens to my parents, who will be held responsible?”
The incident reportedly took place in the Shalimar Garden police station area of Ghaziabad. Azad has currently refused to speak to the media. Police said that if the family files a formal complaint, the matter will be investigated. Officials are also examining the video shared by Azad.
Neighbours deny any stone-pelting
Several residents of the society have rejected Azad’s claim. Suman, a neighbour, said there was an event at the society temple on Saturday and that residents remained there until around 2 am. She said no stone-pelting or disturbance took place and urged the police to investigate the matter based on facts.
Another neighbour, Chhaya Soni, said Azad had not been living there a month ago and questioned the claim of an attack. She said outsiders cannot enter the society without security checks and that nothing unusual was seen on the CCTV cameras. She also said the windows of Azad’s house were not broken. According to Soni, residents feel that their society, religion and Goddess Saraswati are being targeted.
Neighbour Neha Mishra also said residents were awake that night but did not hear or see anything unusual. She said they only learned about the claimed attack later. Mishra added that several vehicles had been coming to meet Azad and her family for some time and said the police should check everything from the security guard at the entrance to the flat and examine the camera footage.
Pradeep Soni, whose house is next to Azad’s, said the society has strict security, with a guard at the main gate and guards in every building. He said outsiders cannot enter without making an entry in the register. According to him, if stones had been thrown at Azad’s house, the noise would have reached his home first. He said the society remained peaceful and that he came to know about the matter only after police arrived in the morning to check the CCTV footage.
Earlier claim involving her father
This is not the first controversy involving Azad and her family. During the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar, she had claimed that her father, Sanjay Azad, was assaulted. Content creator Swatantra Bhardwaj was arrested in connection with the matter on Saturday. Bhardwaj has denied deliberately hitting Sanjay Azad on the head.
The latest controversy has also brought attention to social media posts by Nishu Azad and her father. Two lawyers have filed a police complaint against the duo, accusing them of making objectionable comments about Hindu gods and goddesses.
Advocate Amita Sachdeva told ANI that she found old posts by Nishu Azad on X in which she used an offensive term for Goddess Durga and mocked Goddess Saraswati. Sachdeva said she had asked Azad and her father to remove the posts by 1 pm on Saturday, but they did not do so, after which she filed the complaint. Police have assured her that necessary action will be taken.
Nishu Azad’s earlier remarks on Hindu deities
Azad has previously questioned Hindu religious beliefs on social media. In a November 2024 post, she described Hindu gods as imaginary while writing about caste and the treatment of Dalit women.
In another video, Azad suggested that Savitribai Phule should be considered the goddess of knowledge instead of Maa Saraswati.
She also tagged Grok on X and asked whether Ram, Hanuman and Krishna were fictional or whether there was evidence of their existence.
Her social media activity has also drawn criticism because of the difference in her comments about different religions. While questioning the existence of Hindu deities, she has also posted greetings for Ramadan, writing that she hoped Allah would accept prayers and maintain love and brotherhood.

In June, Nishu Azad was also seen abusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and inviting people to a 13th-day funeral feast for his death. She later issued a clarification, saying that she had not created the phrase “Modi ke Terhavi ka khana” herself and had only read it from a board. The video, however, shows her reading the highly insensitive poster quite gleefully.
The latest dispute over the claimed stone-pelting incident is now being examined by the Ghaziabad police, while residents of the society have publicly questioned whether any such attack took place.
