Rafael Mariano Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has raised fresh concerns regarding Iran’s nuclear programme, stating that several unresolved issues still prevent the agency from confirming that the programme is purely peaceful. IAEA said that it could not fully guarantee the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, as Iran is not allowing full inspection of the Iranian nuclear sites.
I have been very clear and consistent in my reports on Iran’s nuclear programme: while there has been no evidence of Iran building a nuclear bomb, its large stockpile of near-weapons grade enriched uranium and refusal to grant my inspectors full access are cause for serious…

Mr Grossi stated that they have not found any evidence of Iran developing a bomb. However, he pointed out that Iran currently holds a large stockpile of uranium enriched to levels close to weapons-grade. He said this situation is worrying, especially when combined with Iran’s decision not to give IAEA inspectors full access to its nuclear sites.
According to Grossi, the agency has been requesting Iran to cooperate with them and assist in resolving the outstanding issues with regard to the safeguards questions. Unless the issues are resolved and full transparency is granted to the inspectors, the IAEA will not be able to assure that Iran’s nuclear activities are solely for peaceful purposes.
He stressed that the agency’s earlier reports have already made this clear, without Iran’s cooperation in clarifying the outstanding safeguards matters, the IAEA will not be able to confirm that the country’s nuclear programme is exclusively peaceful.
Israel has been bombing Iranian nuclear sites. While there are no reports any damage to nuclear reactors, buildings around the sites have been damaged. Yesterday IAEA said that the entrance buildings to the underground fuel enrichment plant of the Natanz nuclear enrichment facility were damaged. Similarly, Israel announced an ttack on the secret nuclear complex “Minzadeh” near Tehran.
