Hindu Raksha Dal members confront the accused
Members of the Hindu Raksha Dal claimed they received information about the incident and later checked the CCTV footage themselves. According to the organisation, local unit president Sonu Sharma said that members reached the shop on Sunday, 10th May, after allegedly seeing the accused repeat the act.
The group confronted Mujammil at the shop before handing him over to the police. Police later detained and arrested the shop owner for questioning. During interrogation, Mujammil denied intentionally spitting on the food. He told the police that he was only blowing air on the dough to remove excess flour while preparing the pizza base.
The viral CCTV clip, which is around one minute and 22 seconds long, has continued to circulate widely online. The Hindu Raksha Dal claimed that the accused could be seen doing the act twice in the footage.
Police officials said the matter is still under investigation. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any additional charges will be filed against the accused beyond the initial arrest.
