Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra follows the footsteps of her brother Rahul, paints a target on the back of 3 Election Commission officials

Following in the footsteps of her brother and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra targeted senior Election Commission officials and repeated her brother’s baseless allegations of ‘vote chori’ against them. Speaking at an election rally in the Riga Assembly Constituency in Bihar on Thursday (6th November), Vadra accused the Election Commission of India of wrongly removing the names of 65 lakh voters from the voter list in Bihar during the recently concluded Special Intensive Revision.

Vadra mentioned the names of the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, and asked people if they had ever heard these names before. Then she went on to answer on behalf of the people and said that they must not have heard these names because they keep hiding behind their positions and the Election Commission. “Have you ever heard the name of Gyanesh Kumar? I am sure you have never heard that. Have you ever heard SS Sandhu’s name? I am sure you haven’t heard that. Have you ever heard the name Vivek Joshi? You must not have heard that either, because all these people hide behind their positions and the Election Commission,” claimed Vadra, in an attempt to incite people against the Election Commission.

“These are the people who are playing with the country’s Constitution and democracy. Remember the names of these people. Remember their names because you are the people of this country and you have nourished this land with your sweat and blood,” she added. Vadra repeatedly urged people not to forget the names of these senior Election Commission officials.

Vadra’s rants come straight out of her brother’s playbook, who has been running a malicious campaign against the top election body of the country, without any credible evidence. In August 2025, Rahul Gandhi openly threatened the ECI officials with “consequences” when his party comes to power. “Now, the Election Commission must provide us and the people of India with that information. Because if they don’t, there will be consequences. There will be consequences for every single polling officer involved in this, regardless of how senior or junior you are. One day, the opposition will come to power, and then you’ll see what we do,” said Rahul Gandhi during a press conference in which he presented what he claimed were the electoral rolls of Karnataka to allege that the ECI committed ‘vote theft’ there. Recently, he made similar allegations against the ECI regarding Haryana’s electoral rolls.

The Election Commission asked Rahul Gandhi to make an official complaint regarding his allegations against it and the election procedure, but he refused to do so. Perhaps, Gandhi knew that his allegations would not stand the scrutiny, after which he would not be able to blame the Election Commission or the election procedure for his party’s consistent electoral defeats. This is not the first time Rahul Gandhi has come up with the idea of blaming the Election Commission before or after any elections. In May 2019, Gandhi made similar threats against the ECI after claiming that all the Constitutional bodies in the country, including the ECI, the Supreme Court and even the RBI, were compromised. However, Gandhi not only failed to prove his allegations but also failed to convince people.

After his recent vote chori allegation concerning Karnataka electoral rolls, the Election Commission asked Rahul Gandhi to make a formal complaint so that an investigation could be initiated into his allegations. Interestingly, after holding press conferences and openly claiming to have  “criminal evidence” to back his allegations against the ECI, Gandhi refused to make a formal complaint, arrogantly saying that since he is a politician, his words should be taken as the truth.

Rahul Gandhi and his party have been tirelessly trying to peddle their lies to erode people’s confidence in the constitutional institutions as well as the government. Failing to achieve things on the election front because of losing people’s trust, the Congress Party is desperately trying to make a backdoor entry back to power with their election conspiracy theories.
