Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slams Congress govt in Himachal Pradesh in her maiden speech in Parliament

In her maiden speech in the parliament, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the government in Himachal Pradesh over the plight of farmers, seemingly unaware that it was her party’s government in the state. Vadra said the small apple farmers in the state are crying because the government is helping just one man, presumably referring to Adani, the business conglomerate that Congress has decided to link with the Modi regime to insinuate crony capitalism.

Speaking in Lok Sabha, Ms Vadra said the small Apple farmers in Himachal Pradesh are weeping because all resources are diverted to enrich one man. “The small farmers in Himachal Pradesh who grew apples are crying because everything is changing for one man,” Ms Vadra said.

Nevertheless, the gaffe is a reminder of her brother, Rahul Gandhi, who has had similar instances in the past where he has enthralled his listeners, if not by his political vision and intellectual depth but by his comical remarks. Following in her brother’s footsteps, the Congress MP tried to corner the Centre over the Adani issue, but she ended up calling out her party’s government for the abysmal condition of apple farmers in Himachal Pradesh.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the newly elected MP from Wayanad, delivered her first speech in the Lok Sabha on Friday during a special session marking the 75th anniversary of the Constitution’s adoption. In her address, she highlighted critical issues, including crimes against women, Dalits, and minorities, and advocated for a caste census to promote equitable representation.
