Dhananjay Nikam, a judge in Satara, Maharashtra, and three others were arrested after they were caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakhs.
The bribe was taken from a man for granting bail to his father. Satara’s anti-corruption department had laid a trap at a hotel after getting a tip-off about the bribery demand.
The anti-corruption department caught Judge Nikam and 3 other persons while they were taking Rs 5 lakhs in bribes. The incident transpired on the court premises, as per reports.
Judge Nikam is the district and sessions judge in Satara.
