The process of deporting illegal immigrants in large numbers have been started by the US government under Donald Trump. The first batch of illegals from India have been reportedly sent in a C-17 aircraft of the US Air Force.
As per reports, military aircraft have carried illegals to Guatemala, Peru and Honduras so far. The flight to India will be the first one sent so far away. The aircraft departed San Antonio, Texas at 3 am IST and is scheduled to arrive in India in the next 24 hours.
Trump had stated that his phone discussion with PM Modi included the topic of illegal immigrants and he believes that India ‘will do what is right.’
Earlier, India had agreed to take back 18,000 Indians who had been living illegally in the USA.
Indian MEA had stated that they will take back Indians from anywhere in the world provided the documents are verified and their Indian citizenship is valid.
The Pentagon in the USA has so far provided aircraft to deport over 5000 illegals.
