The Labour Party councils in Northern England are drawing inspiration from 7th-century Sharia laws and enforcing them in schools. The revelations were made in a report published by the British internet magazine, Spiked, on Wednesday (11th March).
Labour-run councils in Leeds, Oldham, Tameside and Kirklees have instructed schools against conducting drawing, music and dance classes.
“In a document titled ‘Sharing the Journey’, multiple Labour-run councils have told schools that drawing pictures of humans could be ‘idolatrous’ to ‘some Muslim’ pupils. Music lessons could also conflict with the religious injunctions of Islam,” the report stated.
Many Labour-run councils are thus effectively advising UK schools to follow the Taliban. At the same time, accusations of blasphemy by Islamic radicals have seen suspension of teachers in the past.
For instance, a teacher from Batley Grammar School in Yorkshire was removed for showing students a cartoon of Prophet Muhammad in 2021. Thereafter, he was forced to live in hiding due to death threats by Islamists. In 2023, 4 students in West Yorkshire were suspended for supposedly desecrating the Quran.
“The new guidance confirms that the Islamic bigots have won. Their rules – their censorious worldview – now reigns supreme in the classroom. And this same spirit of appeasement now permeates public life, too,” reported Spiked.
Recently, the Labour government has officially adopted the definition of ‘anti-Muslim hostility’.
“Muslims are perfectly entitled to raise their children in accordance with their religion. They are also entitled to send their children to one of the many Islamic schools in the UK, where any bans on singing, dancing and drawing they might want to impose can be enforced uniformly. But to pressure all schools to police children in accordance with Islamic doctrine is an intolerable attack on secular principles and freedom of speech. This can go on no longer,” concluded Spiked.
