UP: Ashfaq arrested in Jalalpur for kidnapping a minor, sexually exploiting her for years and pressuring her to convert

On Tuesday, 3rd March, a Muslim man named Ashfaq was arrested by the police in Jalalpur after a woman complained to the police that she was kidnapped by the man, “sexually exploited,” and tried to be forced to change her religion.

Ashfaq was arrested near the Hauz Toll Plaza after the police received a report from an informant.

According to Gajanand Choubey, in charge of the police station in Jalalpur, the woman, who is now 22 years old and lives in a village in the police station jurisdiction, reported that the entire incident started about 12 years ago when she was only 10 years old.

She told police that Ashfaq trapped her at that time and continued to threaten and blackmail her for years.

During this period, the victim stated that she was sexually exploited, and the accused had repeatedly tried to pressure her to convert to Islam. After receiving her complaint, the police registered a case against Ashfaq under the sections of kidnapping, rape and incitement to conversion.

A police team later tracked him and arrested him near Hauz Toll Plaza. After questioning him at the police station, the accused was sent to jail. Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
