A young Dalit woman from the Chandinagar area of Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh has accused two Muslim men of raping her repeatedly over a period of seven months. She submitted a complaint at the office of the Superintendent of Police, after which the police began an investigation into the matter.
In her complaint, the woman said that the two Muslim men sexually assaulted her multiple times during these seven months. She also claimed that the accused used caste-based slurs against her. Additionally, she named another person, accusing him of using casteist language and pressuring her to settle the matter.
This isn’t the first time she’s spoken up against these two Muslim men. Earlier, she had complained that they showed up at her home with a country-made pistol, demanding jewellery and threatening to kill her brother and family. Police registered that case back then and started looking into it.
Just two days after that first report, she came forward again, this time slamming the police too. She said they twisted her original complaint. Based on her fresh statement, the cops are now digging deeper into every angle of the case. Circle Officer Rohan Chaurasia said a thorough investigation is underway, and appropriate action will be taken as per the law.
