The Special Investigation Team probing missing donations at Ayodhya's Ram Temple has submitted its confidential preliminary report to the Yogi government.
Cash and valuables worth Rs 2 crore have reportedly been recovered, while temple functionaries, bank officials and agency representatives were questioned over donation counting, bank deposits and financial records during the six-day investigation in Ayodhya.
As allegations of donation embezzlement rock the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, a probe into the temple's internal cash-handling system has put over 50 employees and associates under scrutiny, even as the Trust has denied any wrongdoing and sought an independent investigation.
Consecrated in January 2024, the Ayodhya Ram Mandir attracts lakhs of devotees every year. These devotees donate cash, gold, silver, and ornaments through hundi boxes installed inside the temple. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust handles collection, counting, accounting, and utilisation for the temple’s management and related activities.
The Uttar Pradesh government has formed a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate allegations that crores of rupees are missing from the Ayodhya Ram Temple donations.
