US authorities have arrested two suspected Chinese government agents in connection with an alleged plot by Beijing against the exiled anti-communist Falun Gong spiritual movement, Al Jazeera reported.
China has refuted the allegations and claimed to help developing nations 'overcome difficulties.' Its Foreign Ministry has said that it offers extended loan maturities and emergency loans to such 'poor nations.'
The court's statement, which did not provide details on his charges, further said that Leung was detained on April 15, 2021, by state security authorities in Suzhou, Jiangsu province.
Calls for Zhao's expulsion began to circulate last week after a report in the Globe and Mail revealed that CSIS had intelligence indicating that the Chinese government was considering ways to threaten Conservative legislator Michael Chong and his family in Hong Kong in 2021.
