Delhi police lodges FIR against Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for assaulting and obstructing cops: Here is what we know so far

In a major development on Thursday (8th October), a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for assaulting and obstructing Delhi police officials during a ‘protest’ over Special Intensive Revision (SIR) conducted by Election Commission.

The ‘protest’ was carried out a day earlier during which the two Congress leaders assaulted cops and obstructed the cops under the guise of demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gynaesh Kumar. Other Congress leaders were also booked during the protest.

In total, the police had detained 91 MPs and politicians and their role is now being examined. They stopped the Congress leaders while they were travelling to Jantar Mantar to create chaos.

During the ‘protest’, Priyanka Gandhi and others lay on the road with the copies of the Indian Constitution, following which the police had to intervene and take them away in buses.
