Pannun has sought ‘Qaumi Shaheed’ status for Jaswant Singh Khalra as pro-Khalistani groups use Diljit Dosanjh’s Satluj to revive separatist propaganda in Punjab.
With Satluj, Diljit’s past controversies have returned to focus, from his farmers’ protest stand and refusal to clearly condemn Khalistan to support for Jagtar Singh Johal, named in cases involving Hindu and RSS leaders.
Screenings were reported in villages of Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran and Moga. Zee5 had urged people not to watch pirated copies while Diljit Dosanjh had said viewers would already have downloaded it by then.
ZEE5 has publicly affirmed its support for the film and stated that it is exploring all appropriate avenues to restore it, underscoring that the episode reflects the procedural complexities of digital content regulation rather than outright censorship.
By projecting Punjab in isolation while omitting India, Diljit Dosanjh has turned cultural pride into a narrative that risks normalizing separatist framing on the global stage.
It is also pertinent to note that Diljit Dosanjh has been a vocal supporter of the ongoing farmers’ protests and has also donated Rs 1 crore to the farmers’ cause.
