Speaking to OpIndia, Dipan Mitra, the Secretary General of the World Hindu Federation (WHF) – Bangladesh Chapter said that the situation of Hindus is getting worse day by day. Similarly, another ISKCON Bangladesh spokesperson Yudhisthir Govinda Das said, “As per the info I have received, one of our ISKCON centres (rented) in Meherpur was burnt including with the deities of Lord Jagannath, Baladev, and Subhadra Devi. Three devotees who lived in the centre somehow managed to escape & survived.”

Hindu minorities are being selectively targeted by Islamists under the garb of civil disobedience and non-cooperation with the Sheikh Hasina government.

Sanjoy Rakhit was arrested from his residence under Section 54 of The Code of Criminal Procedure in Bangladesh, which allows for arrest without a warrant.
