Law enforcement agencies on Saturday arrested four individuals for vandalising and damaging houses and shops of the Hindu community and the local Loknath temple in Sunamganj district in Bangladesh earlier this month

"A total of 88 cases have been filed in incidents related to minorities from August 5 to October 2. The number of cases and arrests is likely to increase as new incidents of violence have also been reported in (northeastern Sunamganj, (central) Gazipur, and other areas," the interim government told the reporters.

Chinmoy Krishna Das's associate at Sammilita Sanatani Jagaran Jote Swatantra Gauranga Das alleged that no lawyer represented the Hindu leader owing to threats from a "politically motivated lawyers' group".

Around 130 houses and 20 Hindu temples have been vandalized by the Islamist mob in Doarabazar, Sunamganj area of Bangladesh, many handles on social media reported. This is following an alleged blasphemous Facebook comment that locals claim caused insult to the Islam religion.

Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary of the Muhammad Yunus government, claimed that Hindus are safer under the current administration as compared to they were under Sheikh Hasina's regime.

ATHROA general secretary Saikat Bandyopadhyay said that the decision was taken at an emergency meeting on Monday. "We are a secular country and have respect for all religions. Our national flag has been desecrated and minorities are facing oppression by a section of fundamentalists in Bangladesh.

"The incident earlier today of the breach of premises at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala is deeply regrettable. Diplomatic and consular properties should not be targeted under any circumstances," the official statement by the MEA read.

"We came to participate in a religious ceremony in India, but immigration officials stopped us, citing the absence of government permission,"  ISKCON member Saurabh Tapandar Cheli said.

Salil Tripathi was at the forefront of peddling the Islamist narrative of 'Muslims protecting Hindu temples in Bangladesh' without highlighting the religious affiliation of the attackers.
