Sharif's family claimed they did not understand why they were booked by the police. However, the FIR registered by Unnao Police made it clear that several attendees of Sharif's last rites tried to instigate the mob and blocked the national highway, causing difficulties to commuters.
“Our aim is that the peace and order of the place where we live should not be disturbed. So, everyone has faith in us... If you want to serve Eid's Seviyan (Vermicelli), then you will have to eat Holi's Gujia too,” the Sambhal CO said.
The national president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilvi advised Hindu students not to celebrate Holi in the AMU campus claiming that majority of the students there are Muslims.
The police said that the body of the deceased was sent by the police for post-mortem which was conducted by a panel of doctors and was videographer. The post-mortem revealed that there was not sign of injury on the body of the deceased.
"The attack was led by a local Trinamool Panchayat member, where Muslims targeted Hindus for chanting “Jai Shri Ram” and even questioned, “How dare you raise this slogan?” (as heard in the video)," BJP national spokesperson Amit Mavliya added.
At least three shops, one four-wheeler, and seven bikes were torched during the clashes in Jharkhand's Giridih. One of the bikes torched during the clash belonged to a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader.
In a veiled attack against opposition parties, CM Yogi Adityanath said the country has seen how attempts were made to thwart Holi, Diwali celebrations, and Maha Kumbh festivities.
