In a massive setback for the Congress leadership, senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, a close aide of the Sonia Gandhi has decided not to contest fearing a loss amidst a serious internal rift within the Gujarat unit of the party.

The incident comes after a day after both PM Modi had launched a scathing attack on Mamata Banerjee for her stance on Balakot strikes and accused her of acting like "Speedbreaker" to the development of the state. 

Speculating why the opposition was getting so intimidated by just another movie, he said that "I don’t need to make Narendra Modi look like a hero. He is a hero".
