Following a Supreme Court order, the Modi government has directed central ministries to clear stray dogs from educational campuses, hospitals, and transit hubs.
The Gujarat government will establish Animal Birth Control centres across all municipalities to manage the stray dog population. Supported by a ₹70 crore budget, the plan expands sterilization facilities from eight corporations to a statewide network, starting with 33 centres in the first phase.
