Aam Aadmi Party worker tries to burn Haryana CM’s effigy, accidentally sets himself on fire

Following the brutal murder of the seven year old at Ryan International School, Gurugram, serious questions are raised over schools being safe spaces for children. Anger has erupted across India and rightly so.

However, never to be left behind to score a political brownie point, Aam Aadmi Party worker in Haryana decided to take matters in their own hands and do the most logical thing one can do to ensure speedy justice. He tried to burn the effigy of Haryana Chief Minister, M. L. Khattar.

However, things went wrong, as it usually does wherever Aam Aadmi Party is involved, and the said AAP worker accidentally set himself on fire while burning the effigy. The worker was eventually rescued and has got burns on the legs.

Oblivious to the fact that his own party worker got burnt while carrying out the act, Aam Aadmi Party leader Ashutosh shared the image on Twitter. However, once he realised, he deleted the tweet.

This is not the first time someone tried to burn an effigy and ended up accidentally setting himself on fire. In December, 2015, few Congress workers accidentally set themselves on fire while they were trying to burn the effigy of Prime Minister Modi.

An overly enthusiastic Congress worker had lit the matchstick even as petrol was being poured on the rag.

Back in 2016, an ABVP activist too accidentally set himself on fire while burning AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s effigy in Kanpur.

Thankfully, all the three people who set themselves on fire in each of the cases were rescued.

The immediate conclusion for India is not that Taiwan equals a distant problem. It is that even though the centre of gravity is still in the East, the same set of capabilities, ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance), precision strike, integrated air defence, long range fires, cyber, space support, and logistics can be used in a variety of theatres, including the Indian Ocean and the Himalayas.
