Days after claiming that she was sexually assaulted during a Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-linked protest at Jantar Mantar, Yashashwinee Raje Singh has said she continues to support the protest movement and believes CJP succeeded in bringing a new generation into politics.
The first phase of assembly elections in PoJK turned violent as Pakistani forces opened fire on protesters, leaving at least 19 dead. The clashes follow months of anger over reserved refugee seats, election rigging, and a government ban on local rights group JAAC.
Police maintained that maximum possible restraint was exercised, force followed successive breaches of security barricades and stone-pelting, and personnel withdrew once the immediate threat ended and dispersal of the crowd had begun at Jantar Mantar.
